Thanks Triple7. I can't lie. A 1 month recovery time for FUE sounds a heck of a lot better than 6 months with FUT. Based on your experience, do you think if I booked a consult with Dr. Konier, he would be able to let me know if a FUE would get me through until I'm old and gray or if it would put me in a bad position when I'm an old man (i.e. needing another HT and not having enough donor hair left to do a decent job)? Obviously the ideal scenario would be 1 FUE... in and out. 1 month recovery. Done... but something's telling me those expectations aren't realistic. Thanks. 1978Matt, any thoughts on the above since you've also gone with Konier? Thanks.

1978Matt. Got it. That's all super helpful to know. $20k is doable. I'd pay more if that could get me in sooner than a year out. Wonder if he'd take that into consideration? As for the number of grafts, I honestly have no idea. I still have have, but receding in temples quite a lot and starting in the middle as well. And overall thinning compared to the "good old days". Did you go in for a consultation prior to scheduling with Dr. Konior or you just showed up on the day before surgery and away you went? I just read through most of your HT results thread and it sounded very encouraging. The strip definitely scares me though. I think I'd much rather have a bunch of tiny scars on the back of my head than a big strip cut out. Seeing that you just had a FUE done, would you say that the recovery is similar or MUCH easier/faster? Really appreciate you taking the time here, Matt.

Melvin, absolutely... But if you have Doctor A who is equal to Doctor B but lives 12 hours closer, I'll choose Doctor A in a heart beat. That's what I'm trying to get right now as a good starting point. Do you guys know if Dr. Konior does FUE just as well as FUT? I'm leaning more towards FUE, primarily because I don't want that giant strip and I want far less recovery time. I know I know... from what I've heard, FUT gets you better results (long-term), but I didn't know with the improved technology nowadays if FUE compares well and if Dr. Konior does that really well?

Hey everyone. Long-time member here. I think my first post was over a decade ago. I've still held off from getting an HT. Although I'm not sure if I can hold off much longer. I'll turn 40 next year and I think it may finally be time. That said, could you all recommend a surgeon that's "somewhat" near Columbus, OH? I want someone that other forum members have used a lot and they have a proven track record. I don't want a surgeon that only has before/after photos on their website, as we all know those can easily be made to look better than reality. I'm willing to drive a distance (or fly in extreme cases I suppose) for a doctor that is 100% proven and isn't going to make me look like Dr Frankenstein. Is there a "no-brainer" surgeon that is essentially guaranteed to deliver. Cost is not an issue for me. Thanks for your help! You guys are amazing.

Hey all, are there any doctors in the US that are GOOD and will do FUE surgery without shaving your head? I would look terrible with my head shaved and also wouldn't be able to hide the fact that I got a hair transplant. I live in Columbus, OH and am looking for a good surgeon. Thanks for your help!

Hey guys, I just and across this video today about an arthritis drug being the cure to hair loss. I know they probably have a long way to go but the results look crazy good. Have you guys heard of this? Arthritis drug helps bald man regrow hair, Yale study says - NY Daily News

Any good HT surgeons around Columbus, OH?
notsosure replied to notsosure's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
Thanks Fellas. I'm not actually in Columbus yet, but likely moving with the family next year, so not a clue if Max and Erma's is still alive and kickin :-) So, I looked up: Dr. John Frank with the interactive map and it shows him as Columbus, when I click through to his profile, it says he's in NYC? I'm confused... Also says he played for the San Fransisco 49ers. So, he played in the NFL and then just decided he randomly wanted to be a surgeon? I don't get it. -
I know that many will say it's worth flying across the world for a quality HT, but if a good doc is nearby, I would much rather not fly across the world :-) Do you guys know any quality doctors near Columbus, OH? Thanks!

Hey guys, is there anything that's similar to rogaine, but that you could just use in the shower, rather than rubbing it into your scalp in the morning and evening? I have lots of receding in my temple areas and would love to be able to just wash my hair with something and that's it. Probably not possible, but thought I would ask. Thanks.

Anyone know where Elon Musk got an HT?
notsosure replied to notsosure's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Hi, you can do a Google search and see the pictures :-) https://www.google.com/search?q=elon+musk+hair+transplant&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb -
I'm almost 35 and have held off getting an HT. My temples are receding quite a bit. I also have overall thinning. I can style my hair so that it doesn't look like I'm balding a whole lot. I've been considering an HT for a LONG time, but I don't want to get one, only to realize I have to use minoxidil or finasteride or something like that for the remaining 55+ years of my life :-) Do any of you that have gotten HTs not take anything other than vitamins after an HT? What do the docs say? Thanks a lot. This forum has been such a big help.

How do doctors predict future hair loss?
notsosure replied to notsosure's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Can they predict the speed of hair loss and how far it will go? -
Is there a specific way that they can predict how rapidly and where you'll likely lose your next hair? I'm almost 35 and am receding in the temples and starting to slightly in the very front. Considering a transplant for years, as you can see by when I registered on the forum, but have held off. Thanks

Who is the "best" surgeon in California?
notsosure replied to notsosure's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
Hi, thanks a lot for your reply. I'm 33, so right around your age. I started thinning and receding in the front and temples around age 26. It's very noticeable for me, and I think a little noticeable for others. It's all just very thin as well. I basically spike it up. Then blow dry it, and then sort of puff it up a bit so it looks thicker. Hard to explain... haha... I joined the forum almost 4 years ago because I was noticing receding. It's continued at about the same rate for those 4 years. I took a look at your before pics and I would say that my hairline isn't receding as much as yours was. I would say that we have a similar texture of hair though. Do you, by chance, have a Facebook account? I have a lot of pictures on there that you could have a look at and let me know your thoughts. We could also talk there. Thanks again for offering! -
Who is the "best" surgeon in California?
notsosure replied to notsosure's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
Thank you very much for your post. I'm currently 33 and have receding and overall thinning. I have a couple of concerns, which are probably similar to others... 1. Unsure if my donor area is dense enough to have more HTs should I need more later on. I'm only 33, so have many more years, hopefully :-) I fear doing an HT and then 5 years from now, needing another... and then another and so on. I will never shave my head, as my head looks really small when my hair is super short. And then having donor scars would complicate things even more. 2. Afraid that the donor scar would be noticeable from the back and I would look like "one of those guys that got an HT". I see some with great results, but I always wonder what they'll look like in 10 years when they lose more hair, and have overall thinning from aging. I don't want to live for the "now" and want to think about the long term future. 3. Afraid of making things worse by shock loss. So, while I would have a thicker temple and frontal area, I would continue receding, making my hair look REALLY strange and not natural. And then I would never have the option of shaving because I would have a big donor scar in the back. Not that I would shave ever, anyway, but I suppose if I receded enough, shaving would look better (albeit awful). Do surgeons meet with you BEFORE you decide to go with them? I feel like it would be nice to meet with a good surgeon, face to face, or at least send pictures or something... so they could see what I'm working with. I honestly don't even know if I'm a good candidate being that I'm only 33. Thanks again for all of the great input! Keep it coming :-)
