  1. I wasn't aware of that Leeson. So does that mean that the drug has been absorbed and done it's job within five hours of taking it? After which the body would need more ASAP to continue working effectively?
  2. Bandido, I may be able to shed some light on your question after all about the dosage of Proscar and why some people take it four days on and one day off. It's actually really simple when I sat back and thought about it. With Proscar they are broken down into four 1.25 mg pieces to be taken daily. Now, with Propecia they come in 1 mg tablets, Proscar comes in 5 mg tablets. They are basically the same drug (finasteride), but because of Proscar's size it can only be broken into quarters. So you should be taking 5 mg (approx) of the drug within 5 days. With Proscar it's only possible to take 1.25 mg daily, therefore, after only 4 days you will have already taken 5 mg. So that is probably why you were told not to take it on the fifth day, and then start afresh the day after. Bearing that in mind it's probably ok to be taking it the way you have been doing. Hope that's of some help to you. But remember, I am not a doctor, so it would be best to ask one of the doctors on the forum for their opinion also.
  3. Thanks for your feedback lads, and thanks for that link Bill, was very informative. I did think that the article in The Irish Independent was being a bit over optimistic by claiming that hair cloning could be available within five years. Hence why I wanted to see what you guys thought. But I suppose it's good to have something to look forward to in the future, be it ever so far away.
  4. I did say that I wont mention Trebor's case anymore, out of respect for his wishes. And I will remain true to that. However, it makes me so f**king angry to see that yet another person has been ripped off by this money grabbing con artist, I'm sorry, but that's exactly what he is, preying on peoples insecurities and leaving them worse off than they were before. Hellomotto, I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. My advice would be to go to the States or Canada. With a top doctor like Feller, Shapiro or Hasson & Wong I'm sure they could repair what Kiely did to you. One such patient, Irish30, had a similar experience with Kiely and went to Dr. Feller in New York and had a great job done in correcting it. Check out this link: http://hair-restoration-info.c...66060861/m/487103701 and read his story. I myself am going to Dr. Feller in November too.
  5. For sure, the dollar is a lot stronger these days in comparison to last year or even as recently as six months ago. It's the one thing I'll miss about Bush, the weak dollar and great rates we would get in exchange for the Euro
  6. Here's something that I came across in the online Irish Independent archive. This is taken from an issue of the Irish Independent from last year. It seems a bit too good to be true (and as always, you can't believe everything you read or hear when it comes to hair restoration), that's why I would like to post it here and see what people think. I would be very interested to hear what some HT doctors themselves think about this piece. But all are welcome to comment and give their opinion. Here it is: 'Millions of men and women who suffer from premature baldness or hair loss could soon be able to regain their original lustrous locks -- by cloning their remaining hair in the laboratory. The new technique, known as "follicular cell implantation", has already shown positive results in ongoing clinical trials on human beings. The work, being carried out by a British team, is being hailed as a major advance in hair restoration and is backed by a ??1.9 million government grant. The cell therapy has the potential to provide a limitless supply of an individual's hair to replace that lost due to burns, cancer treatment or simply the onset of age, and could be available to patients within five years. The latest results of the Phase II trial, presented at a conference of leading hair replacement surgeons in Rome, suggest that the technique can increase hair count in at least two thirds of patients after six months, and four out of five if the scalp is stimulated beforehand through gentle abrasions that encourage hair growth. The new technique involves extracting dermal papilla cells, the basic cells responsible for hair growth, from a sample of only about 100 hairs from the back of the scalp. These cells are then multiplied many times over in a special patented culture, before being injected back into the scalp in their millions, stimulating the formation of new hair follicles or rejuvenating those that have stopped producing hair on the top of the head. The procedure is being developed by Intercytex, a British company based in Manchester, which is among many competing to find a cure for hair loss that affects 40pc of men over 50. It may require more than 1,000 tiny injections to produce that number of hairs in extensively bald patients but it will be quicker and less invasive than current hair transplant techniques favoured by celebrities including Sir Elton John and Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Prime Minister.' So there you have it. Possible or pipe dream?

  8. That's great mgem, you haven't got long to wait now. Keep me posted on how it goes and how you progress afterwords. No doubt it'll be a top notch job.
  9. We're always in a good position on this side of the Atlantic if we're going to the States for a HT. The Euro is usually stronger against the Dollar and Sterling is even stronger again. Had I have travelled for my HT last year I could have gotten $1.60 for every ?‚¬1 (which is a whopping $1600 for ?‚¬1000). Right now you would be lucky to get $1.30 for every ?‚¬1. But it's still not bad. My session with Dr. Feller will cost $8500 approx. With the current exchange rate (and I work in a bank so I get a special staff rate) my op will cost around ?‚¬5315. And the hotel I will be staying at offer a 'Dr. Feller discount'. Dr. Feller's is a busy clinic, so I couldn't see him offering discounts due to slowing business any time soon ha ha! But in fairness, his prices are very reasonable anyway. And the bottom line for me is that I'm happy knowing I'm going to get a top job done.
  10. I have to agree with Lost My Swagger. You shouldn't feel bad Trebor, as I've stated previously, yours was not an isolated case and I think you did the right thing in expressing your dissatisfaction. And your anger (in my opinion) was most certainly justified. But hey, it's your thread, and if you don't want any more being said about it I will respect that and say no more. But what I would ask is that you don't retract what you have already said. It is important to let others know what you have experienced, be it good or bad.
  11. Cheers Acrobaz, I was just looking at your blog, glad to see your own progress is going well mate.
  12. Hey CD, I was in a similar boat to you recently enough. After having a close call with a less than reputable doctor (who I thankfully didn't go to in the end), I was wondering if hair transplantation was all it was cracked up to be. Thanks to this forum and the patients I have spoken to, I have decided to go ahead with it. It's all down to researching and being confident and comfortable with the doctor you choose. If you choose a top doctor, from the testimony of patients I have spoken to, you will have no regrets in the end. I have chosen to go with Dr. Feller by the way. But you must do your own research and decide for yourself. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.
  13. Thanks mgem, Did you go (or are you planning on going) to Dr. Feller yourself?
  14. I was just looking at your one month post-op pics Petchski. I have to say, it's coming along very well after such a short period of time. Happy New Hair mate!
  15. Cheers Balody, In fact, many thanks to you too, as you've given me a lot of info and advice since I first started using this forum. And also Richie48, if you're reading this you've also been a great help and thanks for all your advice too.
  16. Just to update you all. I've booked my session with Dr. Feller for the 23rd November. Once again, a special thanks to Spex for his help and advice.
  17. Thanks for that ej, And I'm seriously thinking of doing just that after reading a few posts such as yours on the matter. I know a few solicitors as we have a few of them that are clients of ours in the bank. So I'm sure it would do no harm asking one or two of them what they think or what could realistically be done about it. But I can't help but wonder if a grand is worth chasing for the potential hassle that could be involved in getting it back. But then again, I suppose it's more about principle than the money itself. On a different note, just in regards to Dr. Mohmand's post. I hear what you are saying, however, Dr. Kiely did in fact offer Trebor another session for free. But after receiving such poor quality work from him the first time round, Trebor (rightly in my opinion) turned down the offer. And as stated earlier, Trebor's is not an isolated case. Another poster (Corkbhoy) had 'work' done with Dr. Kiely too, and received the same poor quality results. The only difference with Corkbhoy is that he did take Dr. Kiely up on his offer of a free session. And the result turned out even worse than before as he was left with a huge visible scar to show for the large amount of money he no doubt gave Dr. Kiely in the beginning. Fortunately, Corkbhoy eventually had Dr. Kiely's 'work' repaired at the Hasson & Wong clinic. So I think it would be safe to say that he is performing poor quality work in way more than 10% of his cases (as I'm sure there are many more out there with stories just like Trebor, Corkbhoy, Irish30 etc). Combine that with his blatant false advertising and I think it would also be safe to say that this doctor SHOULD well and truly be avoided at all costs. My point is, why risk it?
  18. Hello TRosen, The guys have given you some very good advice here and agreed, you are a perfect candidate for a HT given your abount of existing hair. However, one more thing that I will say to you (that flyby also pointed out) that is the unwritten no. 1 rule for any person contemplating a HT, and that is NEVER let distance be a deciding factor on choosing your surgeon. With limited donor supply (although you have plenty of it), it is not worth risking it in the hands of an incompetent surgeon. I am from Ireland and have chosen to go to the US to Dr. Feller due to his proven track record and patient testimony. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.
  19. Ha ha! Nice one Balody! Just goes to show that there is justice in the world, and what goes around, comes around (or falls down the stairs!)
  20. Anderson C, We ARE using our brains, that is why we come to forums such as this to research and educate ourselves regarding hair transplantation. I stated earlier in this discussion that I was NOT out to destroy Dr. Kiely's reputation, but that I was in search of honest answers to honest questions (and in my opinion he seems to be destroying his OWN reputation by churning out shoddy work and using questionable advertising techniques). With further research, I discovered that Trebor's case was NOT an isolated incident. There are other posters on this forum (and elsewhere) who have had extremely poor results with this doctor. And it is thanks to these patients and their stories that I didn't end up handing out a lot of money for poor quality work with him. Unfortunately, people like Trebor weren't so lucky and why shouldn't they post about their dissatisfaction? They have a right to be angry and I commend them for sharing their stories so that others may be spared from a similar ordeal. In regards to Dr. Feller, if you are going to criticize him and defend Dr. Kiely then I'm afraid it is YOU that needs to open your eyes. Criticism is important, as I believe that the cowboys should be exposed and likewise, the experts should be commended. But if you must criticize, aim it at those who deserve it.

    jokes..

This isn't a joke as such. But a guy at work e-mailed it to me and I thought it was good: We always hear 'The Rules' from the woman's point of view, well here's an alternative opinion: Please note, these are all numbered '1' ON PURPOSE! 1. Breasts are for looking at and that is why we do it. Don't try to change that. 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down. 1. Saturday = sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be. 1. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way. 1. Crying is blackmail. 1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: * Subtle hints do not work! * Strong hints do not work! * Obvious hints do not work! * JUST SAY IT! 1. 'Yes' and 'No' are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question. 1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for. 1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor. 1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days. 1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us. 1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one. 1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done, not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself. 1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials. 1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions and neither do we. 1. jokes..

Three men walk into a pub, a Scottish man, an English man and an Irish man and each one of them orders a pint. With that, they all discover that there's a fly in their beer. The Scottish man picks the fly out of his pint, flicks it away and continues drinking. The English man hands back the pint and demands another on the house. The Irish man lifts the fly out and starts shaking it viciously shouting 'COUGH IT UP YOU THIEVING WEE BASTARD!'

    jokes..

HA HA HA! Nice one Mr. GQ! But now I must fire one back at ya! So here goes: A college of surgeons was looking for a brain with which to do research on. There were three brains available, an Irish man's, a Scottish man's and an English man's. The price tag for the Irish man's brain was ??500, the price tag for the Scottish man's brain was also ??500. The English man's brain cost ??10'000. An English surgeon stepped forward with a smug smile and proudly proclaimed 'An English man's brain must be far superior to any other given the price of one's brain. I think we'll have that on-' before he could finish, an Irish surgeon interrupted 'I don't f**kin' think so! It's only that price because it has never been used!'
  24. Eman is right Space. I understand where you are coming from, some people prefer to keep it to themselves which is absolutely fine. All I could suggest is that you hold off on it until such a time that you can get a longer period of time off work. Or else you could always take medical leave? Not sure how that is governed in the US (you are from the US yes?) But here in Ireland we are entitled to medical leave once we have a valid 'cert' from a licensed medical practitioner.
  25. Thanks for the feedback lads. Although I only use finasteride myself, however in answer to Bandido, I take a quarter each and every day. I use the Proscar too, 1.25mg daily. From what I know about the drug (although I'm no doctor) is that it must be taken consistently or else it's effects will wear off. Therefore (I would assume) that taking a break every four days would not give you the full benefit. Like I said, I'm not a doctor and please (anyone) feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe since it's such a small gap between the times that you take it, perhaps it might not make a difference?
