  1. inquiring mind wud like to know Blake....

    Weare,

Absolutely! Look forward to your input both as a physician and patient.

    Ontop,

The goal is to make a "teaser announcement" about the technique next week. I'll share a few generic details and some images. Dr Feller and I are then going to work on a professional video that explains the whole process and really showcases how this new FUE is performed. This will be out in the Summer. I'll be happy to answer all questions as well -- though I may have to stay a bit mum on some details ; )

  2. Thank you all. I messed up my first procedure by paying in excess of $6 per graft for FUT using a NY surgeon and although I am satisfied with the result, he was way to conservative in graft count and placement, so I need a 2nd procedure to add density and get the finished result. I definitely want to choose one of the top surgeons for my 2nd, but also not get ripped off by paying a premium when I don't need to. I already had FUT the first time, so I guess it's a mute point for the 2nd (scar will still be there if I opt for FUE. I just want to get the best possible result for my own situation. Any other views on US vs Europe? I'm wondering why so many Europeans travel to North America for surgeries if European surgeons are at least on par?
Vories out of South Carolina does pretty good work and his FUE rates are $4 per graft.

it will definitely be cheaper in Europe but depending on how many grafts u actually get the cost of the flight might off set that but imo not by much when ur talking several thousand grafts at under $3 per graft.

  3. There have been some great FUE results posted the last couple of years, both from the US and Europe, but also some pretty mediocre ones coming out of Turkey in particular.

yea I agree. but I think Turkey has become the FUE capital of the world so I guess its only natural to see a few poor cases from time to time since every doctor over there is jumping on the FUE band wagon.

I think law of averages plays a role.

  4. Thank you for the reply.

Could you give me some names?

I have discovered that Dr. Fotis Tsounis works primarly on Harley Street, London and in Athens where he owns his own clinic called High Density Hair Transplants.

Maras or Erdogan is where I wud b lookn, can't go wrong with either. Masas will be more expensive tho but imo u won't get better quality.
  5. def travel to Europe. there is no catch. the US is a rip off and doctors in Europe don't have the overhead they do in other countries. ur BEST surgeons are in Europe period! u won't get the same quality you will get BETTER quality!

steer clear of FUT!!!!!!! FUE only! especially if u only need 2,500 grafts. otherwise you run the risk of having to seek out an FUE surgeon to repair ur FUT scar. why waste ur time and money and get it done right the second time with FUE.

each time you go into ur scalp to carve out more flesh u run the risk of that scar growing. u may not be scared of the scar now but why risk it wen FUE in Europe is not only cheaper then FUT here there is virtually ZERO risk of being disfigured with a tell-tale FUT HT scar.

  6. Dear Mahalo, I personally had an experience with HDC and I posted my case in this forum right from the beginning.

I am very satisfied with the result and with the approach of the medical team and the administration of the clinic.

I would recommend it. I am also planning to go for 2nd procedure as in the first one I covered the crown and I am now planning right after the summet to go for fixing also the front.

You can see the whole of my case in this link,

    http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/174234-starting-my-hair-transplant-story-hdc-clinic-2200-grafts.html

You can ask any more questions if you want.

so why don't you update ur thread then....
  7. BUSA,

Scars do not tend to stretch with more time. They stretch in the first year, usually well before the year is up, and once they're set they're set so if a scar looks great at one year it will look great at five years. This is of course assuming averages for everything involved. Exceptions to every rule exist but such exceptions in this case would be very rare.

Your point is taken, and I agree for the most part but for different reasons.

ALL scars stretch Joe. all of them! some worse then others obviously.

rare? well, ppl come up on this forum monthly complaining about their FUT scar and ask for advice on how to repair it and which FUE doctor to chose to fix it so its not quite as are as you say.

where the donor tissue is extracted also plays a role on the stretching. some lucky strip hair transplant patients will have only a slight paper thin scar while others will develop thick, protruding scars 1/2 an inch in width or more.

its almost impossible to determine how individual patients will heal, and whether their scars will stretch over time but overwhelming evidence shows that MANY ppl who hav FUT will end of with ugly tell-tale scars and will never be able to cut their hair short.

friend of mine had FUT from a pretty good doctor (tried steering him clear of FUT but he knew everything so I said have at it) and after the first year the scar was fine. the following year the scar stretched pretty bad and the year after that it stretched so bad he had to have a revision. but, he did have a family history of healing poorly scars so not exactly apples to apples. I tried warning him....

that may be rare and probably after 4-5 months if the scar has not stretched considerable it probably won't stretch much further but it can and does happen.

and there have been plenty of ppl post here years later looking for help on how to repair their FUT scar. over time scars will flatten but I have a scar on my chest from being stabbed and it looked great for the first couple years and years later it stretched at least another 1/2 inch. 1/2 inch may not sound like much but on the back of ur head its a whole bunch!

granted, the scalp heals differently then the body but nonetheless it continued to stretch over the years.

my buddy ended up going with a decent US FUE doctor to fill in the scar after it healed. it looks OK now. nothn special tho. a trained eye will spot it but most ppl wud probably never even notice.

he says he shud hav listened to me. and the doctor told him he wud suture him up really tight and to have no worries about the scar. well, so much for that.....

the only sure way to avoid having a linear strip scar that is noticable is to elect not to have strip surgery.

  8. this is why I try to steer ppl away from FUT. like all FUT surgeries they look great immediate after or even within a year but as time goes by the skin stretches and therefore the scar widens.

yes SMP and and FUE into the scar is ur only option. tough to really tell how stretched it is. I don't think a scar excision wud be appropriate but unless u shave ur head down and show some pics its impossible to say.

  9. never heard of him. there are plenty of good quality surgeons around the world that aren't recommended here. maybe he shud post some of his results here more often so ppl know who he is.

apparently you haven't done much research cause there are FAR better choices them him within a couple hours flight of you and I'm sure FAR cheaper too.
