  1. Body hair, particularly outside beard, has a low density. A paper by Umar says that an area with >8fu/cm2 is actually pretty good for extraction. In the beard it is much denser 20-80fu/cm2. I am interested in non-beard body hair. Can Surgeons pack non-beard body hair in much higher density than their original location? For example up to 40 fu/cm2. Also please: I want to focus on the question in bold above. I understand that there are several reasons that make beard hair in the majority of patients superior, I understand that body hair does not grow long, and has a different cyclicality than scalp making it plan C, ... all important points. But want to first understand packing limits. Thanks
  2. Hey @OtherSyde I am very interested in otoplasty. Can you please tell us about the scars? I would like an honest opinion about how visible they are to people. If you can post pictures that would be most appreciated. Can they be seen in the elevator by someone behind you? Any chance of hiding them from a girlfriend? ....
  3. I don't think FIT farming is meant to grow long your donor, but instead to buzz down in a way that does not stand out. When *donor hair* (now on recipient) weakens and thins out arguably decades away on a 30s yr old one can always shave it down. What's the point of HT if one would base decisions on such long term horizons. in the long term we're all bald.
  4. Thanks. Today the right side of the crown was done, the left side yesterday, although a bit of the left was pushed further toward center, so it is possible to for the one that fell to be of today. I only see one graft up close, although the blood flow is significant and can make it look like several. prior to this, I had a huge headache after surgery, and I was sleeping. my head felt like about to explode, it was 9/10 pain. But I slept as I mentioned in a safe position and with my hands under the blanket aware of the risk of inadvertent touch. I really really don't know what happened. But I know that a graft does not pop up on its own I guess.
  5. In other words I am trying to see whether there is a consensus on a way for a surgeon to know whether a graft has been secured or not.
  6. Woke up from a nap after the surgery day 2, there is a graft dislodged. And a lot of Bleeding. Graft lays on top of head now. It is clear dislodge. Doc confirmed it is a dislodge from pic I just texted him and he simply told me to go and see him tomorrow. I know I know that the best person is to ask is my doc, and he will see me tomorrow about this, but want anything that can help me formulate my thoughts/questions tomorrow.and prepare me for what's about to come. Can't sleep now. My question is: Can docs check the health of the surrounding grafts and be assured as to whether they were affected or not by whatever happened? i.e. whether they were somewhat dislodged, and if so can something be done about that after a day? Is there a way to be sure that the other grafts have survived? For example by seeing the doctor X days after surgery and let him do a pull test or something like that?
  7. My donor is actually not that strong - but has some characteristics to compensate weaknesses. I have an unlimited supply of body and beard hair. Not a big fan of beard to recipient approach however, but beard hair for fit farming is something I have in mind as a plan B/C... The quality of some of the hair on my body is much better than beard (straighter, smoother, and has FUs of 2 hairs, ...)
  8. Thanks. Hopefully your procedure went well man. I do not have 6K donor, at best 4.5. So I will see what he says.
  9. Was hoping someone would answer my question: Question: I usually comb my hair from left to right, it is the style that fits me most. Would it make sense in that case to tell him to economize on the right gutter (where sides meet top) since it will mostly be hidden? I am not talking about something extreme that if someone saw me take a shower would guess it is a HT, but more like some reasonable asymmetry that I am willing to tolerate to leave more grafts for crown
  10. The surgery is in a week, but I am heading to Spain tomorrow and since I have some time and a question, I decided to create a thread like this I can update post-surgery. The plan is for 3K in the frontal/top zone, and go back in a year for crown. Since I do not have a dense donor, we agreed that he will not push my hairline forward, but he will fill in the gutter area well. He said he will see how much he is willing to put in the crown once we have the results from the first. I attached some Photos. I have been stable for about 6 years now. Question: I usually comb my hair from left to right, it is the style that fits me most. Would it make sense in that case to tell him to economize on the right gutter (where sides meet top) since it will mostly be hidden? I am not talking about something extreme that if someone saw me take a shower would guess it is a HT, but more like some reasonable asymmetry that I am willing to tolerate to leave more grafts for crown I am nervous as f$$k. Just happen to have come across a sub-par result from Couto posted here a month or so ago, after having seen 50 that are great. Will update you ... I attached a bunch of pics some with soft light and other with harsh light ...(There are two where I am facing a window, one early in the morning, the other early afternoon, which exposes my full baldness). All of them except one are from this year. But again my hair has not gotten worse. If I compare with 2017, I am pretty much the same. It is just that the light exposure obviously makes a lot of difference.
  11. @Ryan Daniel THat is what I meant by thinning (thinned out after harvesting, no balding process) @RMancini Thanks for your response that clarified it. In fact I do have a stronger density as well in the lower area compared to the safer zone.
  12. You guys really do not see thinning of the donor area? (Which is unusual for 2K grafts only)
  13. Ignore my earlier question. Here is a good writeup by a doc (I don't know him) on hats. He recommends fishing hats https://emrahcinik.com/blog/wearing-a-cap-after-a-hair-transplant/
  14. isn't no cap better/safer? Is the doc just asking for this to help with my privacy? I am in a foreign country I think I can live with embarrassment for a few days
  15. hey @RMancini any updates? Sorry to raise this, (1) you result is fantastic, but (2) in the last batch it seems the donor area is a bit thin? or is it just that picture? Thanks
  16. I am going with Couto in just a few weeks and this made me nervous. I understand that no clinic is perfect but if these results were to persist and not ameliorate considerably this would be a subpar result at even a subpar clinic, let alone Couto. The good news for you: You have plenty of donor hair. So if you "lost" 800, you have minimal area to cover and plenty of donor. I personally would go to Couto himself, but it is your decision. I would go back there, because he clearly cares about his reputation and the second time around, he probably will be taking a close look at every little detail. Unless you have some scalp issues I don't see why he would not be able to astound you in the second surgery. He usually measures donor area and tell you the # donor, type of hair, thickness, # of 1s, 2s, and 3s. Did he give you all that info? I am nervous because in my case I do not have a single hair to spare which is why I am flying to Spain. He has built a reputation of being able to do more with less - evident from many of his videos and cases that I have seen on his computer. The plan was for him to use my donor in the most efficient way so I can have some left for the crown. So I am indeed nervous now. Don't blame yourself, all decisions you have made + PRP! means that you you chose the best doctor and you have made no mistakes. One idea -- which is what I would be doing -- is to shave your head so not to have to stress every day in front of the mirror. If when your hair is grown back you are not seeing an improvement then worry then... But you have plenty of donor! It sucks but it could have been worst. I have no expertise to comment on the pictures but (i) yes the placement looks think and (ii) I agree with Melvin that I have seen turnarounds at 9-10 months that are pretty astounding. Please keep us updated. And it would make a lot of sense to ask for the clinic pictures from pre- post-op, as some people have tiny doubts, as you can imagine.
  17. My surgeon told me to bring a loosely fitting hat on the operation day. (Happy that I can leave with a hat) However I am unsure what would be the best type of hat to use, don't want to show up with the wrong had and do any damage Any ideas of the kinds that would work? Are they looking for a hat that does not touch the top of the scalp but just sit on the edge of my head, and if so any ideas on what types of hat would be ideal for this would be great ... sorry for splitting hair
  18. Is to hide differences in texture between BHT and scalp (like Dr. Mwamba advised me) or is it just your style? Or both..
  19. Hi @mustang so you have not tried to let your hair grow on the sides and back yet?
  20. Happy for you, and thanks for sharing. I was trying to find your documented results which I assumed you shared with the forum. But I only see the first procedure from scalp hair I think with Dr. Barghouti. Can you please point me to where you posted results from BHT? would be super interested. What you describe regarding body hair sounds good (that one needs to come close to find anything). But how about the beard, how close you need to be to notice something? This is the big question for me, because the neck is out for the world to see everyday. Actually I have so much unwanted hair on my neck, that if the results were completely invisible, I would jump on that train. Thanks
  21. Thanks for the excellent video as always You got me a bit concerned about the redness on the neck. Most surgeons told me *no trace*. How are you doing there? Please update us over time? I spoke with Dr. about the idea of using beard and body hair to replenish the donor area, with the idea of keeping the hair short there so the difference in hair characteristics is not all too noticeable. Like this instead of using 3000 donor hair, I can use 4500 and replenish the donor with 2K body/beard hair. He said that in his 10 years of experience, only a couple of patients had any trace on beard. But he said body hair leaves FUE dots. Another surgeon who does not usually do BHT (so he is not advertising) told me that the neck will heal better than scalp, no trace. But confirmed that body hair does leave. I have an ungodly amount of beard and body hair... the hair on my stomach is smooth and not curly either. Just nervous about committing to this upper cut look for llfe.
  22. Where did you get the PRP by the way? How long after the transplant should you do it?
  23. Thanks for sharing this man! Few Couto cases here. Can't believe that within 6 months you got such good result so far. I am going to go under the knife with Couto next month. Any advice welcome. I will probably drop you a PM if you don't mind. Such as hotel suggestion etc. The thing I am most nervous about is how to sleep on my back...lol.. I am a stomach sleeper and heard you need to sleep on your back for some time.
  24. I got an email from Dr Epstein's clinic in Florida saying they are offering SMP for those who want to get better coverage. I was surprised. But the pictures look good. And then I looked up on google and it seems to be a thing. People getting SMP for coverage while keeping hair long. Any experiences/knowledge on the matter here? For example https://smp-ink.com/gallery/scalp-micropigmentation/ https://www.drjeffreyepstein.com/gallery/smp-procedure/
