  1. The point at which I will stop caring is when I have gray hair. I don't think that baldness looks too bad on a person with gray hair. I think that baldness does look very bad on a person who still has brown or black hair. I think that once the hair on the front of your head is backwards pointing rather than forward pointing, you look kind of dumb. My goal is to avoid that "dumb, blundering oaf" look.
  2. Yes, I'm sure a forum about male pattern baldness is going to be a major source of people who want to buy handbags. Especially if you post your spam on the subforum about a drug that women aren't even allowed to touch!
  3. If Dr. Humayun's results are real and not photoshopped, then it looks incredible. If I become an NW7, I would certainly seek a procedure like that. Sure, you're still bald, but having a little bit of hair on top creates the illusion, from at least some angles, that you're not really all that bald. I had a Professor in college who had hair very much like one of those NW7 transplants (island in the top front that he combed back, crown almost entirely bald), and he looked very good from the front. Not sure if his was a transplant or not -- I didn't think so then but I suspect it now.
  4. So after doing my research on finasteride and talking with a doctor about it, I've decided that it is the right decision for me. However, I cannot afford name-brand Propecia; so I decided that I would seek to order finasteride online. It seems that QualityRX has a decent reputation online. So I ordered a 90-day supply from them. That was less than a week ago. Today, I got a small envelope in the mail from Rajastan, India. Inside, I found 90 tablets. They do smell a bit strange, but their covering seems legit. I included a picture. They look real to me, but since you guys might have a better idea about what fake or real pills look like, I'll show it.
  5. Sometimes I'll pass a balding guy on the street, and we'll catch each other turning around after we pass, trying to see how much hair the other guy has left on his crown. I laugh it off.
  6. I always just assumed that I was on track to be a NW7 because of how early I started losing my hair (before 20). Honestly, it's what I am still expecting and mentally preparing myself to become. If Propecia works or if I stop naturally at NW6, well, great -- I won't complain!
  7. I have a female friend who is dating a guy who is a few years younger than me. This guy started losing his hair at the same age I did. So one day, she pulled my hat off and said it was because she wanted to know how bald her boyfriend would be when he was my age.
  8. Just because a trait exists in the gene pool does not mean that it must confer a biological advantage. Baldness seems to be something that has neither positive nor negative consequences from a biological perspective. Variations between different ethnic groups could very well just be the founder effect.
  9. Ding ding ding! Some of the hottest girls I know are dating bald guys. I'm not worried about this -- I'm confident that even if I become a full-blown NW7, I can find somebody who won't mind it. The issue is that I would mind it.
  10. Hey guys, So I'm 22, and I just decided to start exploring the world of hair loss drugs. I'm been kind of slacking on this; for the last few years, I've generally had 1-2 friends who were losing their hair much faster than I was. I could tell myself "well, my hair might be falling out, but at least its not as bad as so-and-so". But recently, I moved, and have different friends now, so that excuse has gone away I haven't bought any drugs yet. I found this site while I was researching the possible side effects of finasteride. The process of "shedding" sounds absolutely horrifying, but I understand that finasteride is the only thing that comes close to working, at least for some people. My plan right now is to order finasteride/Propecia off the internet and start taking it at the normal dose, and seeing what happens. How important is it to supplement it with other things? One of my aforementioned friends used Rogaine religiously, and it did virtually nothing for him.
