    If you are going to get a transplant (or go on a medication that could have a lot of side effects), do it only for yourself, not for others. Don't do it because you think some other people (such as women) want you to do it. Sure, some women will not date a bald guy. But plenty will. I could post examples all night. For instance, the hottest girl I went to college with is currently dating a NW4.

    Can cricket players take finasteride? I'm told that many athletes cannot take it because it would show up as an performance-enhancing drug after a drug test.

    You should be fine. It stays in your system for a few days. Even if you lose hair at your pre-finasteride rate during those few days (which you won't) it wouldn't make much of a difference.

    I wish I could be depressed about my hair loss. Because I lost my job in this current bad economy, I have much more important things to be depressed about. So cheer up, it could be worse.

    Update: Today I had 5 pills left. I was planning on rationing them, taking one every two days. This way I would have 10 days to find a new supply. No need. 180 pills arrived in my mailbox today. According to the stamp on the envelope, they arrived in the USA from India only two days after I ordered them. The delay was all on the part of the US Postal Service. I have always been impressed with how quickly QualityRX ships; the problem was entirely not their fault here.

    I have ordered fin twice from QualityRX. In both times it came in less than a week from India. I ordered a third time over a week ago and it has not yet come. I am coming dangerously close to running out. Has anyone had problems with QualityRX flaking out after a certain number of orders, or problems recently?

    Do you go home every day and post on the internet "Today I was not hit by a car. Today I was not robbed", etc. No, you don't. Only people with bad experiences post. There is no point in making a "I took propecia today for the 120th time and nothing happened" post. So even though only 5% get serious side effects, those 5% make up 90%+ of posts.

    You should start taking finasteride as soon as possible. Nothing that you are taking right now stops hair loss.

    I have no idea if my friend who is really bald ever used meds. We never talked about his hairloss. I had another friend in college who started going bald around then, used minox, and got no results. He was a NW3 the last time I saw him (when he was 23 or 24). There are tons of people here who use minox and got results, though. Personally, I don't use minox because, like you, I think it would be too much of a hassle.

    For an 18 year old, it does seem like unusually extensive crown loss. Of the many people I know (including myself) who started losing their hair at that age, I've only seen one other 18-year old with that kind of crown thinning and he has extremely aggressive loss. I just checked his pictures on Facebook, and he's currently a 24-year old NW5. But maybe you have no or little loss in the front and crown-first is the pattern you happen to have the genes for.

    I don't believe that there is any evidence that not bathing retards hair loss. After graduating from college, I switched from showering once a day to showering twice a day and I do not feel that it has increased my hair loss.

    Sorry to hear that about the aches and pains; that seems like a serious side effect. Are you still getting it with decreased dosage? I fear that given how aggressive your hair loss is, a decreased dosage may be like a band-aid on a broken arm.

    Assuming the aches and pains are "down there", this is a really common side effect of first starting fin and it goes away after a while.
