  1. To all, Are there any repair patients that had no or very minimal growth at 6 months, and were then satisfied with their results at a later time? If so, how long until you saw growth? If you have any pics it will really help, I'm really losing hope. I know they say it's hard to see the growth, but I cant find one hair that is any thinner or shorter than my first HT, and the spacing between my hairs looks the same. I know everybody says wait, but I just can't imagine no growth now, and still being satisfied in a couple of months. Maybe, if I see a patient who went through this already it will give me hope.
  2. I totally agree with lost my swagger. Even in the best of hands, a HT is just the begining of a very long road. And the worst part is you may never reach your destination. Trust me after 2 Ht's and a year and 3 mos under a hat, I'm not there yet. I sincerely regret ever having a HT. Think about it. your constantly told to wait 18 months for the final result. Well by that time a large quantity of patients will experience further loss. It reminds me of the rat on the wheel, except I'm the rat. While my second HT was to fill in an extremely sparse first one, it was done by Dr. Feller who is considered one of the best in the field. And while I'm only 5.5 months post op from Feller, unless I see an extremely drastic difference in the next couple of months I'll be very unhappy. Bottom line Ht's are too much money and time, and too uncertain in my perspective.
  3. spex, Yes, from looking at the pics you posted the hair did soften up some. Your pics are so much clearer than the ones sent to me from the office. I'm just really hoping that this is the result of Feller's work and not the first maturing. Because if it is Feller's work then this is just the beginning, but if it is the first HT maturing then this is the end. As far as scheduling a consult at this time, I think I'm going to wait another month or so for the simple reason that I really feel it will be easier to give an evaluation in the later stages. Also, I'm going on vacation this week which is mainly the reason I'm freaking out. I really thought and so did the doc--He said maybe 5 months== that I would be able to go to a nice dinner----shirt and tie--- and this is not the case. One more thing Spex, if the softening affect is from Feller's work, should I not have some hairs that are shorter than others? All the hair in my recip area are the same length as the hair from my first HT.
  4. ---------------------------------------------- This is what is making me so angry at this point. I had no idea. And I feel this should have been made clear to me. Trust me. alot of this is my fault. I should have done a ton more research before my first Ht, but I sincerely trusted my first doc, when he explained the complications and told me, "it will never look stupid" when in reality it looked nothing but stupid from day one. Sorry to be the pessimist, but this is my experience TO DATE. Hopefully, things change real soon.
  5. hey spex, When asking how my grafts have healed, if you are referring to scarring, then they healed fine. I'm just not sure if some grew back or if a few were missed, which the doc DID point out to me. I think I was honest in my response when someone questioned Feller's ethics on doing my second HT when I said, "things look alot better than they actually are in pics". That is the exact same reason that I have not posted to date pics yet, because people will say things look fine. Things will be fine with me when I can go outside without a hat and not have people who know me ask, "what happened to your hair? or people I don't know stare. That is the reality and no amount of arguing for or against Ht's will change this. Another reason I'm so concerned is because I had my HT with feller 9 mos post op from my first procedure, my consult with Feller was 8 mos post op from my first procedure. It just angers me, because the only reason I want to see signigicant results at 8 mos is because that is when my first Ht was judged by Dr. Feller. Who knows? I'm only 5.5 months, maybe in 2.5 months, my hair will look great, but if it does not or gives no inclination of getting better(new hair popping through the scalp) then I feel this is the time to judge Feller's work. This was when he judged the First Ht. And I'm really wondering would I have had more growth from my first Ht? If I see any difference from March of 2009, Is this from Feller's work, or is it simply the first HT matureing. Spex, you are the one that really has me questioning if I would have saw any improvement from my first HT. As you keep touting you can't make any judgement on a Ht until a minimum of 13 mos. Do you understand my reasoning? Maybe, I'm missing something as I'm not an expert on Ht's like you are, but you need to understand when I made the decision to have a HT, it was not to have an anatomy lesson--it was to look better. I ,foolishly, thought this complicated process had more to do with the doctor's skill than with my X factor. I really believed that is why the docs were making over 1,800 dollars an hour. Stupid me!
  6. To anyone who can answer, After the grafts are planted in the recipient site and go in the 12 week dormat period, what is going on if you don't see any growth at 20 weeks? do the f.U.'s die, are they still dormat? Are they growing beneath the scalp? Does it decrease the odds of growth if they are not through the scalp at 12 or 13 weeks? Any and all answers are appreciated.

  8. Bill, Thank you for your response. I hope your right. I'm struggling big time right now.
  9. Hi TTP, My name is John. I post under the screen name John Malloy. I like you, unfortunately, am very unhappy with my Ht's. I had my second 5.5 months ago and don't see any improvement yet. Is it me or is this a bad year for Ht's . I did not know there were this many people having trouble with density. Shame on me I guess. You can see my pics on the thread how long until I'm hatless under the Q&A section. Well, good luck, and I wish you the best.
  10. Hey guys, Thanx for your input. In all fairness to Feller though My first HT looked a million times better in pictures. Now on the other hand I was told it was an "easy fix". This is why I did not post pics earlier--like I said, "they tell a thousand lies. I also thought at 5.5 months I would look better- I honestly don't think so though. I'll post to date pics soon I just don't want them to run together and confuse any readers. And I'm also trying to be as fair to Dr. Feller as possible, thus I think the later I post the pics the less controversy about it being early it will cause.
  11. I really don't think I was asking too much when I had 2 Ht's, first one 1,600 F.U's and the second 2,000 F.U's to fill in the area in the front. Maybe I'm too demanding. What do you guys think? I really was looking for a discreet touch up when I wondered into my first Ht. Unfortunately, it was everything but discreet. Was I expecting too much? Please respond.
  12. Hi justgrow, First, thank you for your support! Second, How are you doing? WOW! I would think you cut and pasted the last year and a half of my life. I'm happy that you learned to deal with your situation; unfortunately, maybe I'm just not as mentally strong as you are. This forum is how I cope at the present moment. And while I understand my posts may unintentionally hurt some, I wish there was someone posting as much as I when I was considering a HT. If things go well for me, I feel as though that will only make this long road a ton more bearable for the next guy. Hopefully, in a couple of months I'm the biggest HT guru on this forum. But for now, I still feel a HT was the worst decision in my life. And I can't forgive myself for not being smarter. I just hope I can help someone in the same shoes. Just grow stay posted for my pics you will see I was not that bad to start with and probably should have never had a HT.
  13. I hear that. 2 Ht's and way worse off than before the Ht's.
  14. paddy, Sorry, but I signed a disclousure from my first doc so he would give me my money back. Trust me, if I was in a different financial situation at the time, I would have exposed this guy. I actually did stand outside his practice showing off the result at 7 mos. I think that is why I got my money back. However, I can say he is NOT a doc recommended from this site. Lost my swagger, I appreciate the support. Like you were saying, it's as if you get attacked when you share your experience's, if they are not positive. My situation is my situation. I'm living life like a "weirdo" because of my first Ht. and to date my second is no help. Why would I not share that with somebody thinking of taking this course of action that could be detrimental to their happiness. I think it takes a cold human being to do such. And that's just not me.
  15. Emp and just grow-- thanks for your response. unfortunately, I don't think that I'm going to be as lucky as you guys. As I mentioned as soon as I get my pre- ops back, I'll post with an updated pic. 16 inch--Sorry, to hear what your going through. I've also been hideing under a hat since my first HT in June of 08. I'm in the same boat--I only occasionally wore a hat pre HT, now I have not been to a social event in which I could not wear a hat. I think we need to become a louder voice on this and other sites. Bad Ht's are not a thing of the past, but still happening everyday. Anyway, I'm at a crucial point- if I don't see improvement in the next 2 or 3 months, I like you will be scarred for life.
  16. hey spex, shockloss, lategrowth, to be quite frank spex, I'm not sure, but setting aside all the technical terms--my hair does not look good! I'm not blameing Feller at this point. However, I can't evaluate where I'm at without asking questions. Besides, if everything I'm experienceing is perfectly normal, I can't imagine my posts being unexpected. This is the norm, and maybe while everybody else understands this. Unfortunately, I was not listening when I was told it is normal to still be living under a hat at the 5 or 6 month mark post op. Anyway, could you send me my pics from the day of my surgery. As you said before, maybe I'm having some growth and I'm just not noticeing. I did have them forwarded to me before from the doc's office, but my computer crashed since then, and I did not have them backed up. I am praying, as you said, that I'm turning a new corner. Spex, as I've mentioned numerous times before I am in no way trying to belittle Feller or his staff at this point. I feel as though you consitently go on the defensive when I post. Spex my situation is what it is, and sugarcoating it is not going to do anyone any good. My words are my frustration with my current situation. A situation I assumed would not be quite as horrible today as it was 5.5 months ago when I had my 2nd procedure. Spex, Rest assured while I'm not very optimistic at this point, if things look well in a couple of months-- I will be sure to post for the simple fact that it would give people like me hope for the future. a class of people for whom I'm extremely sympathetic. You should understand more than anyone. And if Feller is as great as you tout, you should have a little smirck on your face right now as you are positive I will have a fabulous result. And therefore, you have permission to use all of my posts in the future for some future patient experiening what I am, and make it clear to that patient that this is just a phase, and Feller only produces quality results.
  17. Hey guys, I will post a couple of pics this week. I want to get my pre ops from Feller. But keep in mind a picture tells a thousand lies. My hair does not look that bad in pics. If you rely on the pics, I would have never had the second surgery with Feller. But, it can't hurt to receive some feedback from the pics, so as soon as I receive my pics from Dr. Feller, I will post them with some to date photos. Thanks guys. However, keep in mind, every single person that I show my hair to agrees it looks "weird"
  18. I was curious. Assuming an average result from a HT, when should a patient be able to live life without concealers or hats, etc.. without his head looking silly? I understand it takes from 12 to 18 months for the finished result, but I'm not looking for the finished result. I'm just wondering when I'll be able to come out from under my hat. LIFE SUCKS living under a hat. I had my second procedure with Feller 5.5 months ago, I had 2,000 F.U's to fill in a first HT that was done from a doc that left my hairline extremely sparse. Anyway, I thought that I would be a little ahead of the average Ht patient due to the fact that I already had some transplanted hair in the receipient area. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
  19. jont, I can't really say who's good and who's bad. What I can tell you from experience is that I had on HT with a doc that I can not mention because he gave me my money back for poor growth. Now I had a second HT with Feller 5 months ago, AND WHILE IT'S ENTIRELY TOO EARLY TO EVALUATE AT THIS POINT, I'm getting extremely anxious because I'm showing no signs of growth to date and I've already had a bad experience with a HT. Anyway, the point I want to make to you is this: if you have a bad experience with a HT which hopefully you don't, would'nt it be nice to have that 8k to get the work lasered out or go to another doc for a touch up. I believe Hanson and Wong are the only ones that will give you that guarantee. I could be wrong. Do your research and ask the docs what happens in a situation where you have poor growth. Trust me it happens more than you think. I've already connected with quite a few people from this site alone that are not only unhappy with their HT, but also the way they are being treated after forking over more than 8k. And that list includes Me. By the way my first HT was not with Hanson and wong-- I sometimes wish it was.
  20. Hey Jont, As long as a doc is not "outrageous" compared to other doc's, I would not let price per graft hold much weight in my decision to choose a doc. Trust me, I know it sounds foolish but don't let money be a factor in this one. Also, don't let travel me a factor either. If I were you I would check out Hanson and Wong. The reason I say this is because they guarantee growth-they are the only clinic that I know who offers this option. If you grow and get your result money will be a non issue; however, if you don't grow, while you may be depressed you won't be out a couple of thousand. Good luck with you HT. Just make sure you consult with atleast 3 docs.
