  1. The Dr. was Rosanelli located in the Bay Area here. He was a real nice fellow and was upfront albeit a bit brief. Most likely because it was toward the end of day. I've already had one surgery prior, so based on everyones input i would have thought the doc would have more openly suggested scalp exercises to help with graft figures in the future. However, he alluded that the exercises really don't hold much merit above a hundred or so additional grafts. Most members here suggest the exercises are beneficial and I would tend to agree, so I am just curious why Rosanelli might have chosen this stance so firmly. If there are any facts or experiences to back them up, I would be open to reviewing them. I will be doing the exercises regardless though. He did quote me at about 2,500 grafts max for my procedure, but said when we actually 'get in there' and see what hes working with, he may be able to harvest more. I know that everyone is different, but I'm just shocked I was only quoted around 2,500 grafts when I see so many cases of large sessions doing 5,000+
  2. Hey All, I recently went in for a consultation for a coalition doctor recommended on here, and they indicated that scalp stretching wasn't really all that beneficial. They estimated stretches might yield an extra 100 grafts or so, tops. I was always led to believe that scalp exercises were way more beneficial. I ask because I was quoted at a low yield (2,500 grafts) for my second surgery. The doctor didn't think they could go beyond that without it being too tight. I've had one prior small HT. I was hoping/expecting to still be able to get 3-4k in one pass on my 2nd surgery. What is everyone elses take of this?
  3. Thanks for the response guys. While I'm certainly not rich, I would continue to do HTs until I achieve the desired results as long as donor supply permits. If I could reach around 10k grafts with minimal scar spreading, or even FUE into the scar, I would be happy.
  4. Yeah, my density was measured with Dr. Keene and I recall her saying it was on normal/average density with average to thin hair thickness. I don't expect to be able to harvest 12,000 plus grafts, but I would like to know I can do at least 4k more on top of the 2.4k already done with hopefully the option to do FUE should strip no longer be practical. I have diffuse thinning all over the top with some coverage still, but its light coverage. I'm hoping 4k will at least thickening it up for the next several years to come and I can fall back on a 3rd procedure or FUE in 5 to 10 years should I need to even it out.
  5. I'm sure this question has been asked before but I could not find any specifics on it. What do you believe to be the average range of available grafts to be used from FUT to FUE's? I know it varies from person to person, but I'm curious what people think the average number of available grafts are. 6k? 8k? 10k? I'm already in for about 2.4k grafts and would like to do at least another 4k. Normal thickness for hair and laxity I suppose. How realistic would be my expectations for a 2nd or even 3rd transplant?
  6. If you're liberal you will likely get along with a majority of the residents. SF is expensive but nice. It is quite cold at times but the local amenities are outstanding. I would also suggest exploring other south bay areas. Stay away from the east bay.
  7. I posted the same thing last week in the future HT procedures. It will be quite interesting to see how well this plays out in the next two years. I believe that maintaining your hair will be a multi-step process for years to come. While this potential breakthrough could weigh heavily on us keeping our hair, it will not likely be a cure-all hail mary.
  8. Agreed future ht doc. This was found on the /r/science/ subreddit. I think a hair loss cure will be comprised of many steps and levels until we reach the scientific knowledge to actually combat it in a single drug. Right now we use finasteride, minoxidil and hair transplants to achieve a satisfactory approach, but most of that is reactive not proactive. We need further advancement, like this here, to take us into the proactive fight and really give us follically challenged individuals a fair chance!
  9. Saw this on reddit today. Being perceived as a potential baldness cure by blocking a particular enzyme that is responsible for the follicle stopping growth.
  10. My sutures hurt like hell, but Dr. Keene didn't provide me any pain pills. just extra strength Tylenol.
  11. Hey Guys, I'm considering another HT in early Jan next year, and heard that many people here have used 0% APR credit cards and rolled them over onto 0% Balance transfer cards. Would anyone be able to give me advice or a run down on what they did for this process? Questions like: When did you apply for the card in relation to your surgery date? How long did the 0% APR last? When did you roll over to a new card? Any regrets or things I should know if I choose to go with this approach? Basically I don't have $16k to truly float a large graft procedure on my saving alone and would put at least $8k on a card, but want to do it smart. Loans start at 5.99% usually for cosmetic surgery, so I would like to avoid that interest if I can. Any recommendations or solutions are welcome!
  12. How was flying back to your home after the surgery? Did you get hassled at all in the airport security? Did you have to remove your hat and explain the redness?
  13. Man...to hell with you guys and your fantastic results! I'll be going under the knife hopefully again this January for around 4k grafts (donor permitting) Congrats on your fantastic results. You should be ecstatic!
  14. Thanks for the write up! Looking forward to see how 2,600 grafts takes on such a large canvas. Did the patient have any previous surgeries?
  15. amazing results! I too have diffused thinning, and I'm curious what you meant by " proper recipient site preparation " for diffused thinners? Does that refer to shaving down the recipient area?
  16. Was this a new credit card you opened at the time? Thanks for the reply!
  17. psoriasis does not cause hair loss. T-Gel may help with psoriasis, but he clearly has MPB as wel. He needs to start finasteride 1mg daily. Not Monday, wednesday, Friday. Do it every day. The drug is supposed to be taken consistently (as in daily)
  18. I would wait until your last HT to utilize any scaring treatments. Even then, you could opt for a tri-closure scar where the hair grows through the scar.
  19. Hey everyone! Just curious how everyone here has financed their HT's in the past, or how they plan on doing so in the future. My first HT I saved 90% of the capital required, but as my 2nd HT gets closer, I want to explore possible financing options. So I ask..If you financed any of your HT's, how did you do it? Thanks!
  20. really? you guys feel nanogen is better than toppik? isn't nanogen a base concealer that you rub on, or am i thinking of something else?
  21. I have, but I only saw a few pieces of content from actual users/posts. His patient results look fantastic. I'm considered with his dual closure methodology as opposed to the tri that dr. keene uses, so i would like to know more about the reasoning behind that aside from increased future yield. I am unsure on his prices still though too, but that would be less of a concern compared to other procedural topics.
