  1. I agree with Arrive, he is spot on. I was also in your situation. Manipulating everything to go out in public, ect... balding can be a condition that messes with people o the point hat they are willing to pay a child's worth of college tuition for what...a group of hairs from the back of your head to the front. Can something sound so mundane but be such a high priority...answer is YEs BC a lot of us made the choice to go through it bc it was too much to go through us balding. Its OK feel this way. I know you worked with a solid company but I would pick out a few more highly regarded HT DR and see what hey think just for your piece of mind. Hang in there, you look great. But in your eyes you don't..learn to love it...look despair in the mirror and tell it to "whatever explative you choose)! At least you can verbally empower yourself over the self image negativity long enough to either accept what you are or seek other opinions. Prayers and keep us posted. We all help each other here. Best forum on the planet!
  2. Also I have experienced times where the Dr does the incisions and placed a good majority of the hairline. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell who is doing what and where they are placing due to the numing of the area....and Valium Unless the surgeon or techs are telling you what they are doing which is rare during what can be a lengthy procedure.
  3. You have made great choice in Konior

  4. Very nice. Looking good with growth/ added density still coming. I also like how thetransplanted hairline was established in relation to the existing frontal line. Scar closure looks excellent as well. Keep the updates coming! Strongly considering Dr. Keller for HT #3. This reinforces my recent inquiries. Is there grafts placement going from he front all the way back to the crown? From the one post-op pic it appears it that some grafts made it that way as the crown as I see it so showing improvement with the frontal region. Entire head of hair gets an upgrade in under 3,000 grafts is impressive and there is still 3 more months to the on year mark. All with an impressive scar closure. Bravo!
  5. Just updating the progress with my journey towards reclaiming my once adequate hair density and have found myself at a stalemate with a few Dr. All 3 are fantastic and recommended on this wonderful site that we are grateful to have.Dr. Keller has reached out to me once and so has Panine. Each with different aspects of results and fees to consider. But great surgeons no doubt. I am a teacher in the Midwest which is not a great place to be as our schools are cutting like crazy with the state not paying hat is owed. This leaves the future uncertain for teachers like me who will stay employed but nonetheless it may get dicey at contract renegotiation time. Which leads me to say that $ is an issue. I know I know you should never go for cheaper, and this is a lifelong decisuion. But with these 3 known surgeons there are differences that have to be discussed. I have a wonderful conservative hairline from Dr. Konior. He did a great job. His work held up great until a run of meds, explained above, took my hair in chunks an it got bad real quick. Imagine the joy of seeing it IL come back and for it to only regress in a matter of one month. I went to the Dr and told them to take me off and here I sit today with a year+ of propecia and none to show from it, except the grafts that were transplanted. Without giving names I took online referrals and found myself at a stantill in the beginning of the post. I have 3 surgeons I have contacted. For Density only or part of my frontal 1/3 and maybe a small area in the crown. Also one of the lower costing surgeons. has great scar closure which is a plus. I just feel that at he rate of hairloss I am going to be at soon there will be no other time then this summer to get it done to avid having students and Co workers seeing he obvious hair transplant. I manage it somewhat well with Nanogen but he areas are requiring more and I do not know how much longer it will be effective as a Concealer. If anyone has any recommendations on how to approach the situation I am all ears feel free to pm me as well. I am on a budget, but not too small that it is not feasible to get an Ht. I have gotten 2 from Illinois surgeons. Konior and a small procedure from Dr Samuel in St Louis
  6. Considering HT with Keller this summer any updates on this?
  7. I continue to research St. Louis area hair restoration options. Recently uncovered this. Was just wondering if there were any reviews of the Artas machine.
  8. Still digging and posted this on another thread. Good to finally see results from a variety of patients. Would love to see some scar closures on him though and wish he was still in touch with this forum. Link below. More results and info on any long time HT surgeon never hurts. Results show 6 male and/or female patients with about 500-1300 graft procedures http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Share-info/hair_transplant_patient.asp?PatientID=439&DrID=
  9. Just digging around and found this as there are some results for Dr. Samuel in St. Louis. Seems to only do small sessions, but makes solid results with a small amount of grafts. Hair Transplant patient of Dr. Lawrence Samuels, Male Class 4, 1288 Grafts
  10. Perhaps some scar pigmentation(temporary one first)to help cover/ blend the scar? Concealer such as Dermamatch may help any miscoloring. If I were you and chose to get another procedure, look for a reputable surgeon with skills for making pencil thin scars. Konior is one that has done this for me. Exceptional work. You are at the right place to seek advice and share you stories. I am sure there are several that share your concerns. As far as a haircut goes, I have a great wife that cuts my hair and fades it paying close attention to the hair around the scar leaving just enough to conceal, but not too much to create a "flap look". The best saying I heard was someone saying "once you have more hair all you want is...more hair". In regards to your perception there are some cognitive things that I try to do daily to help with perception. Digging up old photos from when hairloss was at its worst can make you look at "how far you have come" as opposed to "how far you have to go". I like to take two hands and cover up the HT to remind myself of what it would look like if i did not have hair in those paticular places. Cognitive thereapy can impact your perception and help create a glass half full attitude for some.
  11. Dr Konior is a true artist. This point of the process is the best part. Just keeps getting better and better.
  12. Through this forum I have talked with some people about different causes of hairloss. Everyone has a different journey and I have been encouraged to share mine by a few people. Hopefully I can share my experience that may help out some others as well who may be in a similar situation, or share some similar components in their own lives. I am 31 and my hairloss started back in 2002 when I began to notice a little receding, nothing major, but a little bit non the less. Each year it slowly got worse until I finally took the plunge with Dr. Konior back in the summer of 2009 where I had about 2220 grafts placed on the frontal third of my scalp. I was also lucky to find this forum as I had traveled to St. Louis for a consultation and booked a date with someone from MHT. Dr. Konior and his staff are outstanding which is well known on this board. My results were awesome. Though I have no photos to date, I was a happy customer with a great head of hair. In the spring of 2011 everything changed not only for my hair, but most importantly my health. I had started to randomly have severe acute panic attacks. I have no family history of them and was completely consumed by them. Sometimes having 20+ per day that were very painful. The worst part was the insomnia where I went 7 days with 1 hour of sleep per day. It was a very rough time and there were no underlying causes of them. I have a great job, wife, kids, family ect. It was purely physical. Also I am a full-time high school teacher who had to work through the riggors of an anxiety disorder. As Doctors prescribed medication after medication to try to get me to sleep and stop the panic attacks. With SSRI everything slowly got better after 2 months and I was able to get back on my feet again, but it was pure hell to walk through. Those who have been through them know exactly what I am talking about. Especially the start up on SSRI medication can be rough for many. As things normalized I started to see side effects from SSRI treatment such as low energy, libido, ect.. I was prescrided Androgel and ED meds to help with the problems. Some of you know what is coming next from the "Androgel" statement. I shed hair like no other after a couple months of treatment and insisted that I be taken off Androgel. I had always used rogaine but also started finasteride for the past year and a half to combat the onset of my sudden hairloss and (hopefully) grow back some hair. I was aware that increasing testosterone could potentially accelerate hairloss, but being a transdermal it underwent an enormous amount of 5-htp interaction which skyrocketed DHT levels. Though I was able to stop the massive shed with discontinuation and medication, the damage had been done. In the frontal third of my head it is obvious that the hairs Dr. Konior placed are all that is left to be seen (I am thankful for that). I also use Toppik to help add density. I shared my story becaue anxiety, hairloss from medication, and other factors played a role in my sudden hair loss after my first surgery. The hairloss was also very sudden and dramatic in a very short period of time. I am happy to say that I am much more educated now on the effects different medications, most paticularly the hairline. My journey for a 2nd hair restoration has began as I have sought out consultations from 3 of the outstanding surgeons recommended on this board very recently. I look forward to updating everyone in the near future.
  13. that clarifies things. Much appreciated.
  14. Thanks Blake. Much appreciated that you would look into this. Lookin forward to learning more hopefully. I did dig a little deeper and found the link below. Seems like he prefers several small sessions over larger ones as most of the patients have 2 sessions but not a large number of grafts. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Share-info/hair_transplant_patient.asp?PatientID=436&DrID=55
  15. I have been unable to get any info on this as well. It seems he was recommended at some point. Click the link below to see some info. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/155001-dr-lawrence-samuels-st-louis.html I am also very interested in hearing from some of his patients. One of the moderators ”Bill” says that he is recommended by the Hair Transplant Network for performing high quality follicular unit hair transplantation. But the above post was in 2008.
  16. Thanks for the advice. After a lot of research it seems like Dr. Samuels is IAHRS board certified and most experienced in the area? I also think he was recommended on this site at onetime but cant see why he is not anymore. A thread a couple years back stating he was recommended on this site but did not have a lot of results posted- but then again I have not seen any terrible experiences by anyone either. Any more info would be great. I have also found a Hans Wiemman and PAI medical that seem to either have bad reviews or outdated procedures. here is the link: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/155001-dr-lawrence-samuels-st-louis.html
  17. I am currently looking for a reputable surgeon in the St. Louis are. Has anyone had any procedures done in that area? I had a wonderful hairline and density procedure by Dr Konior 2008, but have moved a bit south. I am now looking to add more density to the frontal region. Thanks for the help in advance.
