  1. I wanted to give my HT time to get a proper evaluation. I am over 14 months post-op and feel I achieved the 20% density increase goal. I definitely thickened up 12-14 months post-op. I do have some small patchwork I will look to on my frontal right side I have to conceal, but pleased with my overall result. Regimen is still daily minoxidil and Finasteride. Nizoral 1-2x/week
  2. I was reassured that my shedding was normal. It stopped once the finastride dose was increasd. Dr K reassured me that the shed was not out of the norm. Post op was done diligently as well, He noted tat the final result could take 2 more months to call it complete
  3. I used the same phone in the same lighting in the same room. It is very strong lighting from above the mirror and top of the room. I feel that the pre-op pictures from Dr. Konior will give an accurate before and after snapshot for a final determination. Also it could give an accurate picture of the closure on my donor area which I can conclude is impressive as it is hard to find during a haircut.
  4. No I have not. I always considered only Finasteride and it was the only medication discussed after my HT. I have only read limited information on Avodart but it detours me because of it's increase in adverse side effects the more DHT is blocked. I will discuss it with my Dr. though. Thanks
  5. Corrected. I use Ketoconazole 2-3x/ week. I knocked it back when I began to take Finasteride 1.25/day. I will try the 1-2x/ week protocol. Thank you.
  6. I am officially 1 year post op. Thank you for all the kind words and interest in my recent PM box and to those who are in this forum. My story is detailed and long so I appreciate the time so many have taken to read it. The first picture is the day of the surgery. For the attached pics I used the same lighting in the same room. I am scheduled to see Dr. Konior for my 1 year post op in early June. I am also looking forward to his pictures with a more professional camera to show some detail. This also is not the final result as some transplants can take longer I was told Currently I am still taking 1.25mg Finasteride/day, Rogaine Foam 2x/day, and Ketenezole 1x/day. I also went and had bloodwork around month 8-9 to check my testosterone and DHT levels. Testosterone levels were in range but the DHT level was low. This at least helped reassure me that DHT was not high and was successfully being suppressed through Finasteride treatment My graft totals: 1st Procedure with Dr. Konior 2300 grafts on frontal 1/3 2nd Procedure with Dr. Konior 2400 grafts throughout top portion Total Grafts: 4700 from Dr. Konior (600 from another Dr earlier) total of 5300 grafts
  7. Thank you. It is all day by day for the last couple of years. I have been off those products for a while now and hoping the finasteride, rogaine, and 2nd HT make for a nice result
  8. Sorry for not having many updates. As a teacher it is crazy for those 9 months. I spoke with Dr. Konior about some concerns mentioned in this thread in regards to shedding, ect.. After talking I decided to wait 1 year before I posted my results and give a final assessment and evaluation on my earlier 2300 graft procedure, and most recent 2400 graft procedure 11 months ago. Currently I am growing my hair out to the exact length it was in the pre-op pics to further bring an accurate end result picture. My graft totals: 1st Procedure with Dr. Konior 2300 grafts on frontal 1/3 2nd Procedure with Dr. Konior 2400 grafts throughout top portion Total Grafts: 4700 from Dr. Konior (600 from another Dr earlier) total of 5300 grafts Final result will be posted soon as I approach the one year mark. Thanks for being patient as I have stayed away from the mirror to not drive myself crazy with critiquing and checking for shedding. I have been on point for long time on 1.25 propecia ED, Rogain Brand Minox Foam 2x/day: Ketenezole shampoo 1x perday. Lots of hair based multivitamins, ect.. Really wanted to go all out to get the most out of this final assessment. Will post pictures soon as I near that 1 year mark. My apologies to the several personal message and email responses for those wanting to see where I was for the past 6 months. Photos coming soon and thank you for such great support. It never disappoints me how great of a community support forum this is.
  9. 5 months post op. Still shedding. Still taking minoxadil and finasteride as well.
  10. Thanks for the encouraging words. Dr Konior and I have exchanged several emails and we are good with where I am at and the preventative protocol. I was looking to see if anyone else experienced any shedding like I have. Glad I am not the only one. Time will tell on this one. Thanks for the encouragement. I am considering pushing the finasteride back up to 1.25mg/ day. It had some libido and bloating issues for me when taken everyday.
  11. Finasteride and Minoxidil for a year. I have attached some pics. Please note my hair is shorter then usual. About 1/2 the length of my pre-op. Also I run outside in the summer which is why my hair is lighter in the May summer pre-op and darker in this late September pic. I do not dye my hair.
  12. Just a quick update: Been experiencing a large amount of shedding as I am about one week from the four month mark. Some ingrown hairs are randomly showing up spread out around my scalp. I can easily run my fingers through my hair in the morning and get 20+ in the sink. Also there are hairs in the shower everyday after use. I'm not going to go crazy by counting them all but a fair amount are not diffused or thin, they are dark and thick. Hopefully this is just a part of the cycle of things but it has gone on for about 6 weeks. I have not noticed a thinner head of hair. I am still on rogaine 2x/day and 1.25 finasteride 4x/week. As I know the game is to be patient since this is my 2nd procedure with DrKonior; I must ask if anyone else has experienced a large she around the 4 month post op mark or later?
  13. The goal was as many grafts as possible. We shot for as mych as we could. I have had procedures of 2300+grafts with Konior, 600+ with another surgeon in the frontal area, and the most recent 2400+ from Konior. Only so much you can get out of some people. As you can see there are some areas currently patchier then others on my scalp. Hopefully this allowed some areas to take more donor hair then others. My bangs and mid frontal areas as seen in the pics have solid coverage mostly from Koniors last procedure. Hopefully it all balances out as I have 9 months of growing to do.
  14. No info on what donor area is remaining. Looking forward to the next few months. Realistically i know the coverage will not be a huge improvement. We did coverage throughout a larger area because i would rather shoot for average coverage all over then have decent frontal coverage and a completely bald crown/frontal crown. Only time will tell.
  15. Nothing much to report. This is where the nerves kick in. I got 2400+ grafts throughout entire scalp for density. Im still shedding very frequently in the sink and showers. Still usinf finasteride on M, W,F. Rogaine foam 2x /day. Pics from Iphone not too detailed. Really eager to see how almost 5000 Konior placed hair grafts will look like once this 2nd procedure grows in. The scar is looking better and better. My wide can trim s little lower each time she cuts it.
  16. I feel you on the shed. I think its partially shockloss, partially normal hairloss, and partly just paranoid:) At least that's my view. Just remember its all uphill for a few years or more. Even in my case from medicated hairloss it is still better then 2007 just with the lowered hairline. Your scar is looking great early in the recovery. You also look to have thick hair which will only go well with scar concealing and transplanted hair coverage. Enjoy this time. Its a good time to be a balding guy in your shoes. Best of luck. Your doing well
  17. Yes, listen to Spanker. Recent transplantees can guide and encourage you. Especially the ones that are just a few months ahead of you. I'm behind you on my timetable, but know the crappy times as I am in one right now but on my second HT with a great doc. 6 weeks out, nothing goin on , just itch and dead time. Use these guys and there words if they say wait then wait, if they say this is when the fun times start put a :-) on and enjoy my friend. In all the turmoils of slowly losing hair and going through the BS forr years..these are your months to watch it all go in the opposite direction you have suffered for so long. Enjoy, document, start to look at new hairstyles that fit your hair type, just have fun with it. Its been way to long since you and your hair have had a good time
  18. Outside a lot.'with hat on. A lot of it is lighting too that is why there is the contrast from scalp to skin. My hair and scalp is kept long and out of the sun
  19. Yes, have toppik and nanogen. Too short and thin. Looks like dirt on skin.
  20. Lol it is. All a par t of the plan. Glad I have been there before a few years ago. Doesn't get any easier. Thanks for the support. Any later I would trick or treat with my kids this October as Gollum
  21. Attached are some 6 week pics. Sill in the awkward phase where the side needs to be long enough to cover the healing scar and the top is thinner and growing much slower then the sides. Baby steps. This part sucks. "4700 total grafts w/ Dr. Konior" breathe and repeat. I hate this stage. All pics under very bright light. Pic of just hair is the donor area.
  22. No real change to report at 6 weeks out. Buzzed hair starting to grow out to where it can almost be faded on the sides as normal. Donor area still can be seen at a level 5 blade, mostly because the hair was buzzed around it as well. Gets better each time it is cut. I do have some itching near the crown and in the frontal 1/3. Hopefully a sign of growth, or nothing at all. I am oticing some crown shedding and still have numbness on the sides above the donor area.
  23. Not a problem. People need to be aware that these things can happen with medications, even with the best of surgeons you can still add years to your hairline in a matter of days when you usenandrogens and /or stop propecia. I would put up a pic but it looks like pre-op pic right now. I am about 10 days away from being able to fade the sides up to either match the length of the top or be a little shorter, all while not being able to see the scar. The scar revision is awesome. My wife said it is much better then the scar I had b4 the surgery. The Konior scar was awesome after my first surgery, then terrible after my 600 graft surgery by my Dr that did my surgery for my second procedure. Konior took the old scar out and it is much better then it was b4 and will only get better.
  24. Coming up on almost a month. Everything back to normal. Just the waiting game now. I was a little concerned that there was no real flaking or scabbing. Did not notice one hair fall out. Shaving really makes you miss a lot of what goes in and out.
