  1. To "TheHairUpThere" ~ I agree it's hard to find any 'recent' posts/YouTube info on Dr. Ron Shapiro BUT that's because he doesn't Self Promote like a lot of HT surgeons out there, he doesn't need to. It's actually an indication of his nature. He is a very caring and quietly spoken individual who really knows his stuff with immense experience in this field.
  2. Dr. Ron and his whole team is THE BEST! You are incredibly fortunate that you live in the same State. I travelled all the way from Melbourne Australia TWICE (2 procedures) and going back for third and final procedure when things settle with COVID). You will be in the best hands! Very best to you...
  3. It's the waiting game. You really need to wait at least 18 months, and even a full 24 months to see final result. I wouldn't do another procedure until at least the 20 month mark. But I do see an improvement from your 'before' and 'after' pic at the 12 month mark. good luck!
  4. Hi fortune11 I had work done with Dr. Ron Shapiro. Like you, I had multi HT's (7) dating back to the late 80's. I too contacted Dr. Ron around the 9 month mark concerned about my result. He re-assured me, particularly because I had multiple previous surgeries, that 9 months was far too early to asses final result. Things really started to look up around 17 months and continued to improve right up to 24 months. Be patient... things will improve!
  5. I travelled all the way from Melbourne Australia to Shapiro Medical Group in Minneapolis having waited years to save up for repair work. It was well worth the wait! I appreciate your need and KNOW what you are going through, BUT you really don't want to compromise when it comes to this sort of thing. good luck!
  6. I am/was a patient at SMG. Dr. Josephitis, along with Dr. Ron Shapiro worked on my HT. Can't speak highly enough of SMG, Dr. Ron and Dr. Josephitis. It's not just their amazing expertise and skill in what they do, but their genuine caring and humility. Dr. Josephitis & Dr. Shapiro have that rare combination of humility and confidence that makes them, in my opinion, one of the best HT surgeons in the world. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger ~ "Ill be back!"
  7. I think Dr. Josephitis did an amazing job! Also the patient was extremely pleased and stated that it was 'more than he expected.' And as Zup mentioned, the bulk of the work was done in frontal/top area. The patient is only in his 30's. The choice, and I'm sure the "ADVICE" given by SMG, to not do any work on the crown area at this stage is a wise one. When, if the time comes when the patient's crown area thins out more he will have ample donor for the job.
  8. Hi Peter ... this too was my first post. So I am not sure if I'm doing this right. Maybe REPLY to this so as we know we are communicating right and we can organise a time to hook up on phone. talk later ... or sooner ... Peter
  9. Peter - I too am from Australia ... I am desperate to contact you for phone chat if possible. I have been considering dr. Umar for H.T. I am from Melbourne. My name is also Peter. I am not sure I am doing this right as this is my first post.
