  1. Thanks for all the advice everyone,

I actually had a visit with Dr. Arocha, and he said he saw some thining at the top, and around the left/right sides of my head. He gave me a printout with the following:

    - Rogaine 5% daily

    - Propecia one per day

    - Nizoral Shampoo - lather every other day 5 'mins

    - Biotin 5000mg (already taking)

    - Laser Cap Pro (Laser Light Cap)

He told me he thinks the laser cap will be helpful for to use, and I basically will have to keep using it. Because the hair baldness/thining is genetics.

I told him I didnt want propecia because of sexual concerns, but he suggested those are very rare and he's been prescribing it for over 20 years.

I asked if I just stuck to rogaine, biotin, and the shampoo, and he said it probably would be a very little if any progress (like 19%, in addition, I think I would lose the new hair if I stopped using it).

But he highly suggest the laser cap. He told me it could prevent 90% of the hair I have now from losing/going out quickly, and about 50% increase in hair growth after some months. He says you just put it on your head every other day for 30 mins. It is kind of expensive as well.

I wanted to hear you all thoughts on this after following up with Dr. Arocha? Thanks in advance!

I'm actually not even sure what all of that is ...

But Dr Arocha WILL NOT steer you wrong!!!! He's is an ultimate classs act and great guy!!!

  2. I swear that I answered this question...but maybe another member had a similar question.

Personally, I don't understand why anyone would undergo hair transplant surgery only to shave their head. To me, it seems like a giant waste of money. Why not just shave it down for free and save thousands and possibly tens of thousands of dollars? Maybe just go buy that car you've always wanted, have your head and be done with it?

But for me, I HATE the way I look with a shaved head. So I chose hair. I do have a strip scar that would not look good if I ever shaved my head. However, I'm very confident that I don't ever want to shave my head either.

That said, if you want to shave your head, that's a personal choice only you can make. If you're concerned about scarring, you could always start by gradually shaving down. Start with a 6 clip and work your way down to see how it looks.

    Best wishes,

    Bil

    I agree Bill

But let me put a little spin on it...it may sound stupid but my thoughts are this, strip out, then I wanna pay for a small FUE procedure to fill in temple points and scar. That way I can have several options for a hirstype,,,, long on top, short on sides and back, buzzed all over , LONG all over.....

Also I want for people to know that I've never had any work done, which I think this may help that appearance if my hair is changing a lot. My 2 cents worth anyway.

  3. Damn did this really happen? I won't lie I would be pretty wrecked if that happened to me, why would she do that, I don't understand even if you were wearing a toupee why would she point it out, she's just trying to intentionally make you feel bad. What if you asked if she was wearing a fat suit and said tug at your love handles to confirm its real. I mean wtf, I feel pissed off for you man. The hairline isn't the most natural hairline I've seen, I mean you're young so possibility still exist of needing more grafts in the future, but if people are calling you out on it and making you feel bad then go for it. I know speaking for myself I would not be cool with people saying I wear a toupee.

    Agree....

Whole point of a great transplant is people NOT noticing!

  4. Transplanted hair is taken from hair zones that are not susceptible to DHT damage.

As long as a skilled surgeon removes the transplanted grafts from the correct zone you should not lose hardly any transplanted hairs from DHT.

However all the native hairs that surround transplanted hairs are still susceptible to DHT and will possibly continue to thin over time.

This is why patients need to plan for the future and save donor hair in case of more native hair loss down the line.

Hair loss is a "moving target" and will possibly continue to some degree all around the transplanted grafts.

    Agree.

Shampoo...I just realized you had another procedure in May! How's it coming along?

  5. I'm probably overly worrying, but I'm just a little concerned that I've been overly touching (running my hands through my hair) my recipient area/hair and it might somehow be detrimental, even though I kinda know that the grafts were safely anchored after about day 10. Of course I avoided doing so for the first two weeks (as per the guidelines from ASMED) but now four weeks on I often find myself touching my hair without realising it and I some times see a hair fall when I do it. Tell me I'm insane and shouldn't worry.

    Yes

You're insane and shouldn't worry. But if you are going to continue touching it, rub some Rogaine on it:)

Promoted early growth. Otherwise try and leave your head alone. When it grows out, then you can run your fingers thorough it!

  6. Well it's official guys! I've booked with Dr Rahal for Sept 19th of next year... hoping to get around 2500-3000 grafts to address midsalp area. If we get lucky and get more, may even hit temple points if I decide to keep my hair short. Anyway just like last time, I'm very excited.
