  1. Hi guys, I'm exploring HT#2, think I want to do 2500-3000 strip. I went to his site and there was no pricing, anyone want to give me their rough costs for their HT, also experience getting from airport to office, etc. Thanks.

  3. Again, no one is gonna waste their day searching the board for your pictures. The appropriate thing to do is put a link in your post, sorry to be so direct but it seems your not getting any feedback, and if that's what you want, you need to provide the pics...
  4. There are no pictures??? I can't see any.
  5. Hi Hair Apparent! Congratulations on your second pass, I have had only one pass, but clearly need a second one in the next year or so to improve density. I will certainly be asking questions about your 2nd HT experience, thanks for sharing. You are moving into the fun period now. Good luck! HH
  6. Dear Dr. Shapiro (and Hairbank), Thanks for your comprehensive reply, it gives hope to those who previously have had a strip procedure prior to the availibility of the trichphytic technique to have a better (and almost unsightly scar) after a second HT. Regards, HH The answer is a "qualified" yes. If the scar from the first donor procedure is thin and the laxity is adequate then you can excise the first strip entirely. As Hairhope says the downside is that since part of the strip now contains scar tissue with less hair the amount of grafts will decrease. Sometimes that is not an issue as the laxity is so good that you can go wide enough to get the desired grafts and exise the scar. Also sometimes the scar is so thin that the decrease amount of hair in the scar is minimal. At other times when the scar is wider or if the laxity has decreased you have a decison as to wether to leave the scar and just go right next to it to improve your yield and then do a scar revision later ...that only adresses the scar Now if you are trying to repair a scar that is "very" wide sometimes you simply cant exise the entire scar and have to use other approaches for scar repair.(multiple small excisions, FUE into the scar, douple layer closures, and sometimes even expaners have been used for very wide scars) I think I will write a brief informational piece on the donor scarring and the approach do scar repair over the next couple of days like I did for the trichophytic closure Take care ron shapiro
  7. Dear Dr. Shapiro (and others), Question is: If I have had a previous strip procedure, can you simply have the second procedure excise the first scar and close with this new procedure (assuming you can excise the first scar). Thank you.
  8. Hi Guys, I have been using it for about 10 months now and have learned much about making it look more natural. After application and your hair is completely dry, I sprinkle on a little Toppik, just a bit and the thinnest parts. Here is the final part, go get yourself some Jason Natural Cosmetics, The Pro-Vitamin Thin-to-Thick, Body Building Hair Spray with Biotin & Cysteine. It is Alcohol free and won't make the Dermmatch run on your head (compared to alcohol based products). Make sure your head dries again then comb out. Hope this helps! HH Here is the Advertisement notes: Created with a unique and natural formula, this hair spray is a styling aid as well as a treatment ideal for all hair. Thin, fragile and weak hair will not become dry or brittle with continued use. This body building and conditioning formula contains JASON's exclusive Planthenol-3 Complex to bind moisture to the hair shaft, while Whole Wheat Proteins and 22 Keratin Amino Acids reinforce and thicken hair fiber and smooth down hair cuticles. Thin-to-Thick Hair Spray protects hair against environmental pollutants, UV rays and humidity to provide maximum and lasting hold. Provides lift and support even to very fine, limp, hard-to-manage hair. Leaves hair full-bodied, shiny and bouncy. Because of its supple texture, hair remains soft to the touch and can be re-applied without hair becoming stiff, sticky or flaky. At the end of the day, your hair can be combed out effortlessly, without risk of damaging hair fiber. 9. Hi Bill, I think it looks really natural and very good. I would highly recommend you take a few years off to see what it looks like after a few hair cycles. I believe you will see an increase in the caliper of the hair and your density will significantly improve. best wishes.
  10. Hi Robert, Thanks, I believe I began using D-Match after reading and seeing the results from your posts. I recently bought almost every concealer there is, but now I feel I would of been better served just spending it on re-ordering D-match and more Toppik. Also, I bought some Toppik like products (Organin), however so far I don't like the consistency as much as Toppik (IMO). Thanks for the tip on the hair spray, I'll try it out after I use up all the bottles of Toppik spray I bought! Any other tips are welcomed from all. Remember we are all in this together.
  11. by far the best combo is: Use DermMatch as a base (also on your hair) and then sprinkle in a bit of Toppik. Follow this with the Toppik Fiberhold Spray. This combination cannot be beaten. I have now a whole supply of other products, Prothik, Couvre that will be in a box. Couvre was useless for me. Prothik is great, but it really is very THICK! I like my hair soft and the DermMatch/Toppik combo does the trick. Just my opinion.
  12. I believe you should keep your head out of the sun, however I am unclear of either the length of time or the reason. If anyone has any additional info, it would be interesting since I may want to schedule a second procedure close to Spring.
  13. Rest easy, trust me you are still healing, these will disappear.
  14. There are very few peer-review published papers on hair transplantion (relative to the rest of medicine). However, the efficacy of minoxidil post HT is clear. Dermatol Surg. 2002 Oct;28(10):894-900; discussion 900. Related Articles, Links The potential role of minoxidil in the hair transplantation setting. Avram MR, Cole JP, Gandelman M, Haber R, Knudsen R, Leavitt MT, Leonard RT Jr, Puig CJ, Rose PT, Vogel JE, Ziering CL; Roundtable Consensus Meeting of The 9th Annual Meeting of The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. Department of Dermatology New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, New York, USA. info@dravram.om BACKGROUND: Over the last decade surgical management of hair loss has become an increasingly popular and satisfying procedure for both men and women, as innovations in donor harvesting, graft size, and hairline design have resulted in consistently natural-appearing hair restoration. OBJECTIVE: In addition, a better understanding of the regulation of the hair-growth cycle has led to advances in the pharmacologic treatment of androgenetic alopecia. METHODS: Currently there are two U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved agents that promote hair regrowth: over-the-counter topical minoxidil solution for men and women and prescription oral finasteride tablets for men. In October 2001, a group of 11 international experts on hair loss and hair transplantation convened to review the physiology and effects of pharmacologic treatments of hair loss and to discuss the value of administering topical minoxidil therapy as an adjunct to hair transplantation. RESULTS: This article presents the key findings and consensus points among the participants, including their current use of pharmacologic treatments, strategies for optimal results both pre- and postsurgery, and the importance of realistic patient expectations and compliance. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the surgeons' clinical experience, the use of approved hair regrowth agents in hair transplant patients with viable but suboptimally functioning follicles in the region to be transplanted can increase hair density, speed regrowth in transplanted follicles, and complement the surgical result by slowing down or stopping further hair loss.
  15. Dear Joe and H&W Team, Thanks for sharing the results of this new closure method. I think its a great breakthrough in HT and it only gets better. My only wish is that either Dr. Wong or Hasson opened an office on the East Coast of the US, I am sure we would fill up their offices. Thanks so much.
  16. Best of luck and keep us updated, I didn't see any pics of the procedure in the other thread? Did you put them up yet. Try not to look at your head too much over the next few months Good luck.
  17. Well bro, one thing you do have is big gozongas! Best of luck and post up.
  18. Hey Dhuge, We also feel bad we couldn't be more positive for you. We have absolutely nothing against your or your doctor here, however given the scant amount of published research or HT efficacy, we heavily rely on anecdotal evidence by sharing our experiences. How about you just tell the good doc you want to just delay this thing for two years and have him write you a scrip for propecia? In my opinion, you walk away with a medical intervention and some hope for improvement. Additionally, look into to concealers, given you have some diffuse thinning it will work wonders for you and maybe get you thru. I was sorry from the beginning we had to be straight forward with you and burst your hopes, perhaps the above may lift them. Hang tough bro
  19. You are not exactly correct, I would guess you will be getting 3-5 hair transplants. But good luck.
  20. Listen bro, None of us know your doctor good or bad, this about your life, not his. You have all the info you need at this point, we all wish you well. If you are looking for someone to come here and bless your decision, you may find a few, however I would ask them about how much they really know about HT. Some of the best in the world have spoken here (you just don't know it), you are luckier than many many many that have not been as smart as you to make a post. In my opinion, I would delay it after a 2-3 year period of propecia.
  21. I know well of him, he is 40% older than you, and still on the young side, also likely has a better long term prognosis in terms of hair loss based on both your pics. You never answered if you saw the doc and just not his cosmetic consultant?
  22. Chris, This is my last response because I feel you are just turning everyone's advice back at them in a defensive manner. HOWEVER, my last question is regarding your original post, you suggest you had a consultation with the Dr's cosmetic guy before scheduling. Aside from you being 20, not seeing any patients, and not seeing the doctor in person, you are good to go! Good luck.
  23. It is strictly MY opinion as to a HT on a 20 year old not being a wise decision. Do as you wish, however, I strongly recommend delaying at least 2-3 years after propecia use. I am NOT saying don't have it with this Doctor or any other, only that it is way too early if you haven't previously been on medical therapy for hairloss (it may actually come back w/o a HT). Best of luck either way HH
  24. Not to be negative, however, unless your hairloss is stabilized, it is likely a very poor decision on his behalf to operate on a 20 year old. I suggest you read this board for a while because there is much wisdom on this issue.
