  1. Both - and he did FUT So about the shock loss - when do you think it gets the worst?
  2. My Doc was Epstein (2nd procedure with him). He did a great job. He put in about 800 grafts to recreate and give more density to the hairline.
  3. Hey all, I'm 3 weeks post-op and the shock loss is definitely kicking in. I was just curious when you might think the "peak" of shock loss occurs? My last procedure I think is was at around 5 weeks but I can't be certain. Al I know is everyday it looks worse. Any insights/experiences would be appreciated. Thanx!

  5. Never had a bald president? Does Eisenhower ring a bell? Anyway, Hairbank (and the discussion of Presdents) brings up an intersting point. I don't know how many people here are politicians, but it is generally well known, that people who listened to the Nixon/Kennedy debate on the radio decidely chose Nixon. But we all know he didn't stand a chance when standing next to the youthful, healthy, full-haired Kennedy. Most of our insecurites come from mainstream media and what not, I beleive. Being bald a 100 years ago was probablly not an issue whatsoever, hell the average life expectancy was 47. But these days, with the magazines, clubs, single life etc. etc. outward appearance is incredibly important in how one is percieved i.e., how one personally feels. I live in Miami. As a single guy, try heading down to a South Beach "hot spot" with a comb-over and see how you fare. But, for those of us who could care less where the cool party is, balding is probablly nothing more than a fleeting thought that doesn't occupy much of ones time. Much much more to be said, but that's it for now. Great post Mike 1987! P.S. Yes, our President is a blithering idiot
  6. I posted this previously but got no reply's. I have heard from a few different sources that propecia can lose effectivenss after 5 years. Is there anyone here who can personally dispell this rumor?
  7. I was just wondering if I alternate nizoral and nioxin every other day, would that be too much? ~ 4 times a week for each shampoo?
  8. I agree with Slick, it's probably in your head. (No pun intended). I think if someone had been slipping propecia in your drink or something without your knowledge, you'd probably be fine.
  9. Hey all, I was just wondering how long you have to wait after putting rogaine on before you can take a shower and not risk washing it off? Also, does anyone here only use rogain 5% ONCE a day? Does that work?! Thanx everyone, the more responses the merrier.
  10. I have heard from reports and physicians that propecia begins to lose effectiveness after 5 yrs. At which point, I will most likely go on avodart. My questions are: 1) Has anyone been taking propecia for more than 5 yrs here - if so, what are the results, does it really stop working as well? 2) Will switching to avodart make any difference if propecia starts not to work? Lastly, what's the deal with any new drugs coming out? Has anyone heard anything about FDA approval for something? Much thanx everybody
  11. Browny - I feel ya. I am turning 25 soon and just had my second procedure. I haven't lost quite as much but I still think we're in the same boat. Luckily, with propecia (on it for 3 years) and my two procedures, I have virtually stopped it. I think a HT would be a great think for you. However as some of the other posts stated, it is tough to tell because your hair is so short and we can not really take a good look at your donor area. If you grow your hair out, is the hair on the sides and back thick? If so, I think you should do it, and the recommendations of about 3000 sound very accurate. It sounds to me that where you want to get...1500 will definitiely not be enough. Don't feel bad if you find yourself getting a little hostile every now and then, most of us have been there, it's frustrating. In the meantime, get on propecia. Then you might want to grow your hair out just a little bit so you can see what kind of donor area you have. Anyway, that's my two cents. Keep your head up. FYI - I just had another 900 grafts from Dr. Epstein about 5 hours ago. Procedure went great, I will posts pics soon. Take care
  12. Well I see the cynic's are still alive and well on this site No, this is not my first post, as I said I had been here years ago. It is very important to note that I am not receiving any compensation whatsoever for this post, and I do not work for Dr. Epstein. It is simply my experience and I put it here to help people find someone they'd be happy with. That's all. Take care.
