  1. Hey everybody, I was mistaken earlier when I said that Dr. Wesley is no longer taking new test subjects for his trials. He is no longer accepting people who have undergone FUT/Strip surgery, he has as many of us as he needs. He is still taking people with "Virgin" scalps, those who have not yet had surgery. I am not sure about those who have had FUE surgery though. Sorry for the miscommunication. If you are still interested, and meet the criteria, contact him via email. Cheers, -Trees
  2. Hey, I am not an authority figure in anyway, but I don't like any animosity on here, we are all here to help each other, not attack one another. I suggest the two of you do this privately, and not on the public forum. Negativity is NOT welcome here.
  3. Mattj, thanks for the concealer advice, how does toppik stand up against perspiration and rain? The last thing I need is my "hair" running down my face, like Jason Alexander's character in Shallow Hal, lol. The photo you referenced does basically reflect my pre-op appearance, so I definitely have significant improvement since then, but not as much as I would like. Aaron, glad another Radiohead fan is on here, I'm seeing them next week. As for consulting with Rahal, I would love to, but I am down in CT and that would require some serious traveling. Not to mention I just dropped some swerious coin back in February on my first procedure, and I doubt I could afford Dr. Rahal right now, one can only wish. Hairthere, you think I should go shorter in my styling? I keep it longer to completely conceal my linear scar, but I think I can go shorter now. As for proper haircuts? Let me put it to you this way, my cousin is a stylist at Fekkai, he cuts my hair, I'll have him go shorter next time. Everyone is so supportive, I love it. I plan on paying it forward. I just wish i had hair now, lol.
  4. Bill, I agree with your request for transparency, but this is very sensitive information. Dr. Wesley is no longer asking for participants, he has all that he needs. Also, he does plan on releasing details soon. He is actually very eager to do so because he is so excited about this technology, but he is waiting to do it when he feels comfortable enough, and protected enough to do so. This technology is 100% his, it would not be prudent to release sensitive information to the public at this time. It's his baby, and he needs to protect it, FOR NOW. All will be revealed shortly, he told me this yesterfay when i consulted with him. -Trees
  5. Corvettester, I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to a thread I read a couple months ago, about some new Chinese cloning method. I basically agree with everything you have stated about Dr. Wesley. I know that I will not be able to afford the procedure when it is FDA approved, and available to the public. So that is why I think the FUT is going to be around for a very long time. I respect you Corvettester, and don't want you to thnk I was trash taling you. PM me if you wish. I believe Wesley's technology is going to revolutionize everythng. -Trees
  6. Hello all, I should clarify something. I believe this new method developed by Dr. Wesley is so revolutionary that it could replace FUT and FUE. The only reason it won't replace FUT, is the cost of it. The cost will most likely be higher than a FUE, so those of us who are not loaded, and still want great results, will still go with the FUT. As far as not being able to imagine how to harvest follicles, that is why Dr. Wesley is a visionary. I would have never imagined it either. I don't think this is a teaser, he will let us know soon. He is just protecting his intellectual property at the moment, I don't think he is trying to tease us. Look at it this way, it's not even a real technique yet. It needs to be approved first, and that takes time. Think of it as an experimental technology, that won't be available until the future. He has no ill intentions, he just needed people to participate in his trials, so he can offer this to everyone in the near future. Sorry if I came across as a teaser. -Trees
  7. Greetings my friends, I met with Dr. Wesley this afternoon. I have some good news, and some bad news. His new technique, which I will not under any circumstances describe to any of you, is nothing short of brilliant. Let me compare it to music. The most difficult thing a musician can do, is to write a simple song. The more simple, the more difficult. Dr Wesley has developed a new technology that is so simple, that it would take a true visionary to imagine it. Not only has he imagined it, but he is bringing his vision to fruition. I am still blown away by how revolutionary his technique will be in this industry, he literally will change everything. I am not exaggerating, scars are going to be a thing of the past, and he can even correct pre-existing scars. He will be able to deliver almost complete yield on harvested follicles, as there will literally be no trauma to the stem. Future patients will get the results that a FUT provides, with even less scarring than a FUE procedure, and by less scarring I should say no scarring. OK, this is the good news, now the bad news. Dr. Wesley had put out a call to all of us to volunteer to participate in his clinical trials, so he could provide the FDA with proven results to receive approval. Many, many of us responded to him. Those who did, and have scheduled a consultation, and agreed to be his test subjects, will receive 100 to 150 FU's for their participation. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but he will no longer be taking new participants for his clinical trials, the window is closed. So please do not offer to participate, you will not only be wasting your own time, but Dr. Wesley's as well. Trust me, his time is very valuable. He has an actual practice of performing FUT and FUE procedures, and is also going to be incredibly busy fully developing his new method. This isn't even bad news, it's just a notice that no new participants will be accepted. And he is working on changing the game, and that is incredible news. I immediately liked Dr. Wesley, and could tell how excited he is about his new method, he makes it impossible to not share in his excitement. This is truly some cool stuff, and when HE decides to release the details of the new method, all of you will be excited, and your minds will be blown. I had the "I can't believe no one has thought of this yet" feeling the entire duration of the consultation. I know that there have been forum members who have made some pretty bold statements about "new" technology, and that it will replace tried and true methods like the Strip procedure, and Follicular Unit Extraction. Those members were irresponsible to make such statements, and were totally incorrect. The already existing procedures are always going to be relevant, and provide excellent results, so don't confuse me with those other members to make those irresponsible statements. However, I will boldly state that Dr. Wesley has developed a new approach to Hair Restoration, that utilizes the best aspects of already existing methods, and this new approach is going to change it all. He will harvest Follicular Units without traumatizing them, leave practically no scar, and provide the same type of yield as the Golden Standard, the Strip Method. Just wait until he makes this information public, your jaws will drop. I am just so thrilled to know that there are people in this world with such vision and talent, and I met one of them today. Prepare yourselves to be totally astonished!!! -Trees P.S. He likes Radiohead, and has seen Thom Yorke in concert. That goes a long way in my book.
  8. Thanks guys, Sean, I have numerous photo alums on my profile. I know the Rahal patient had more than twice my graft count, but it still makes you wish it was you, lol.
  9. The physical pain is really minimal, and only lasts a few days. Meds definitely help, but you may feel strange numbness in certain areas, especially the donor strip incision. There is a chance of feeling a bit of tightness as well. In all honesty though, you'll sleep with a neck pillow in a recliner for several days, be drugged up on percocet, and watching movies. Not too bad. The real pain is the emotional, and psychological aspect. Months and months of waiting for results, then they might not be the results you were expecting. Just make sure you are prepared mentally for this procedure, it is a BIG investment in so many ways. But you could be one of the lucky ones, and have no complications, and have the exact results you expected. We're here to offer feedback, pre and post op. Examine yourself, and try to figure out if you can handle this.
  10. Bonker, you did go to one of the best in the world, so just have faith in their ability. Believe me, I know how tough that is to do, and pretty easy to say; but I am also quite unhappy with my current 7 month progress. Stay strong, voice your thoughts and feeling on here, we will have your back buddy. After all, we are all in this together.
  11. I can't seem to get over this feeling of utter disappointment and despair. I examine my hair regularly, and the results at 7 months are just bringing me down, especially after seeing the posted photo's of Rahal's patient at 7 months. I have to style my hair just right, to conceal the true thin/baldness. These pics are more like pre-op than 7 months post-op. My doctor said 1500 grafts would provide the coverage I was seeking, and he has agreed to work with me on a second procedure, but I need to know how much of a discount I should expect. This is hardly a solid frontal third. I am just venting here I guess, but I feel so down about this. Even if I get an incredible deal on a second procedure, I really don't want to have to go through it all over again. It's a huge cost, and an emotional roller coaster. I know many of you have gone through the same thing, so you can relate to how I am feeling. Here are some pics I just took, some without styling, others with styling. Thank you my friends. -Trees
  12. I would have to agree, Rahal is one of the premiere surgeons in the world, and a two hour drive is too inconvenient? I am not casting judgement here, but this is a thread to discuss this one patients awe inspiring results. Montreal, you have every right to post on here about your concerns, surgery is a big deal. But I suggest you start your own thread about it, and others can provide feedback there. Besides, you're going about this wrong. Rahal is a Rock Star, people walk miles barefoot in the snow to meet with Rock Stars. Grow your hair out a bit, and drive 2 hours! That is my opinion, you and others are entitled to their own as well. I just don't want to get anymore emails that there is a post on a thread I have posted on, that is nothing about the thread itself. Other threads are for that. Sorry if I come across as harsh, but that's realistic. -Trees
  13. I just got the email fro my doctors office with the detailed breakdown of my initial procedure. 1's - 475 2's - 989 3's - 75 1539 total grafts 2678 total hairs Is it your opinion that I should have had twice that? I am open to other's opinions as well.
  14. He has what we all wish we could have, it is sort of depressing to see such great results, when your own are not nearly as great. That doesn't change the fact that I am very happy for this young man, and am astonished by the seemingly miraculous results he has. I hope my density will be like that after another procedure.
  15. Hang in there pal, I know how tough it is. Just remain patient, and resolute.

  16. I have far more donor hair than I could ever need, that is not even remotely an issue. You see the hair from strange angles, and it is slicked back. I have plenty of donor hair to tap into, seriously. I am actually quite happy with the hairline, it shapes my face very well. It looks much different in person than it does in the photo's.
  17. Thanks for the feedback, I hope you get what you were hoping for with this second procedure? Did you know you had to have one when you had the first one, or did you decide on it later? Keep us updated with your progress!

  18. Once again, I really do appreciate everyone giving feedback, it's a great comfort. The problem with this forum, and all written correspondence, is tone can easily be misinterpreted. I am just trying to get the results I was expecting to receive up until a couple of months ago, when the hair first started coming in, and wasnt as dense as I had been expecting it to be. That is a really bad feeling, then to hear that you need another procedure, that just pours salt on an open wound. I need to stress the fact that I don't want to blast my Doctor publicly, as I said before, I like him, he is going to work with me to get the results I desire. I won't release his name until I am satisified with the results, then his ability will be showcased at it's optimal level. I don't think I would write poorly of him, or blast his talent, because he did a fantastic 1500 graft job. A lot of people on the forum think the hairline is out of proportion with the rest of my head, I think that IS beacuase it is pretty much slicked back in the photo's, but at this point, I need to style it that way, because it looks much thinner if i don't. I consulted with my doctor in November of last year, and had the procedure in February of this year. during that in between period, I was uncertain if I was even going to go ahead with the procedure, but like I said, I am fond of my doctor, he didn't sell me on anything, he just made me feel comfortable enough to go ahead with it. It's HUGE investment, financially, emotionally, and many other ways. I approached him with what I wanted, and that was a DENSE MATURE HAIRLINE, and told him my budget, and asked if he thought we could achieve the desired results. He said we could, and recommended 1500 grafts. I had no idea that 1500 grafts wouldn't be enough. I would have adjusted my budget to mee the demand for more grafts. I know there will continue to be thickening of the shafts, and the hairs will mature. I'm excited to see better results, but I also know that I won't be happy with the density afterward. On other threads, members have commented on the lack of grafts in the forelock, and i agree, it is very thin there. I don't look forward to a second procedure, I'd rather be on a great vacation, not in pain, and stuck at home in a recliner at night. So, for that I am very frustrated, I was clear on what I wanted, and the recommended 1500 procedure wasn't enough, it was about half of what I needed. I think anyone would be aggravated in such a position. So to all of you, I respect all of your opinions, and appreciate your advice and positive feedback. I want to be very clear about this, I am not trying to pick a public fight with my doctor, or threatenting to thrash him on here if he doesn't make right. He has already agreed to work with me on a second procedure, we haven't discussed specifics, but he has agreed to work with me. That is a comfort. I know you all mean well, but I want to assure you that I am not a vindictive person, looking to ruin someone's reputation. But you also need to realize that I am using this forum to work out some of the stress, anxiety, and frustration I am feeling; so some posts might seem like a threat. Also, had he not agreed to work with me, I think this forum is the exact place for that to be voiced. Especially since the doctor is recommended by the network. People need to know these things, I never meant for my post to be a threat to force the doctor into discounting a second procedure, but simply stated the fact that they know this is a small community, and bad news spreads fast, they are aware of that, so it is clearly in their best interest to do excellent work, and correct it when they don't. Does that make sense? I am not a jerk, and don't mean to come off as one. I just want a head of hair I don't have to feel self conscious about, and I really thought I was getting that with the first procedure. So I was very hurt when I found out otherwise. Try to understand that. Thanks everybody, you all keep me going. I love getting email alerts that someone has responded on here, but I also feel misunderstood when people think I am scheming to get what I want, and using this forum for that purpose. Not the case!!!!!! Keep the comments coming though, it's so appreciated. Much love to all of you, -Trees
  19. Thanks for the feedback guys, I think my post came across the wrong way. I like my doctor, I like him a lot. I chose him based on this networks recommendation, and my level of comfort with him personally. I am just upset that the planning, and communication was so poor prior to the operation. Trust me, I want to write a raving review for him, not only to help his business, but that would mean my expectations were met. I want to keep the hairline I have, just a much denser version. A very dense mature hairline. That was what I had asked for, and he never told me I needed more grafts to achieve it. So I believe my frustration is justified. I don't want to come off as bitter, or threatening. He just needs to stand behind his work, and I think that it sucks that I have to go through the surgery twice to achieve what I should of received in one. I don't know about you guys, but this surgery isn't pleasant. It's uncomfortable for days, very expensive, not just the cost of the procedure, but the week of work I need to miss. Instead of going to Turks & Caicos, I get to sleep in my recliner for a week, and still lose a weeks vacation time. I'm not an asshole, picking a fight, or threatening my doctor publicly. I'm just a frustrated young man, who didn't receive the results or communication from my doctor, that I am entitled to. For the record, I have never even made mention of his name, and don't have it on my profile. So please don't think I am trying to hurt his business, or do anything other than understand what to expect, and get results. I will write the greatest endorsement ever for him when he meets my expectations, but don't you think the network members need to know of a doctor who doesn't meet his patients expectations, and stand behind them when they aren't satisfied? I would only speak poorly of him to prevent all of you, my HT brothers, from having a bad experience, and when you have a bad experience in this type of area, it hurts soooo much. I don't want that for any of you.
  20. Hello my glossy headed brethren, I hope all are well. Today marks 7 months since my first surgery of 1500 grafts. I know I will need a second procedure to get the density I desire, but take a look at the new pics I posted just now. Please give me some feedback on how you think I will progress and mature from this point. I am only looking to gain realistic expectations, and am fully aware that a second procedure is necessary. Thanks for all the support, and feedback my friends, we really keep each other going. Oh, and since my surgeon never mentioned my graft count wouldn't be sufficient, and a second procedure would be necessary, I think he needs to make good and help me get the results I want and deserve. I hope he understands what a powerful and valuable asset this community is. A raving review will draw in plenty of local business, but a scathing one will keep new patients away.
  21. I am taking Percocet daily, as prescribed by my doctor. I have read that opiate use can cause hair loss. Is there any truth to this? If so, will the use of Rogaine and Proscar prevent loss caused by the opiate use?
  22. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find the Bosley advertisements appalling. I have been watching them for years, and in fact they were my first introduction to the thought of hair transplants, but their claims are disgustingly inaccurate. They lie to the general public, making them think that their "highly skilled" surgeons will magically make their baldness a non-issue. And that they will no longer require Rogaine or Minoxidil. Let's address this piece by piece. First of all, any surgeon with any real talent will not be at Bosley for very long, they will venture off on their own, and be a superstar independantly. The only surgeons at bosley are either second rate surgeons, who cannot advance past a certain skill level, or are young aspiring surgeons, eager to get the experience under their belt, and eventually go off on their own. Either way, I wouldn't want any of them touching my head. Second, it is down right negligent to lead people to believe that they will no longer need to use Rogaine and Propecia, when we all know that they are a lifelong requirement to maintain your native hair. I returned home the other night, after having a few cocktails, and sure enough the Bosley infomercial was on. I decided to give them a call, and ask a few "real" questions, which their call center staff was not prepared to answer. I also gave them a piece of my mind for misleading the general public in so many ways. After about 5 minutes, the representative hung up on me. It felt good to express my anger with them though. Does anyone else feel the same?
