  1. Thanks for all the advice j1! I think 1.5 months is a good idea too, I think i'll only do light exercises (no gym, just walking) till then. My surgeon was Dr. Pak (under Dr. Rassman) in Los Angeles. 3100 grafts in 2/09. 2000 grafts in 10/10.

  3. I am 3 weeks and 2 days post-op. Am i safe to wear a tight hat to the gym and sweat my nuts off without damaging the recipient area? I see that the general consensus on this subject is that the grafts are completely secured around Day 10 or 11, most would agree by 2 weeks. But, we're all a little OCD here, right? (checking the mirrors, checking the pillows, checking anything that comes in contact with the recipient area to hopefully not discover dislodged grafts). Just wanted to make sure though! Also, After they are secure, does it matter if im more rough with washing the recipient area in the shower? Ok thanks!
  4. Youtube will be your best friend. A million free tv shows and movies. its only a couple weeks, enjoy the downtime.
  5. Always be honest. I lost a relationship for literally this reason, lying to my partner about why i became so distant. Someone mentioned something golden earlier, "what would you say if he came with this to you?" Always a good rule of thumb to see how you would react if the tables were turned.
  6. I just posted elsewhere how HTs SHOULD be covered by insurance. This is not just a cosmetic procedure for most men, but much more. The depression caused by hair loss is similar to that caused by BDD (body dysmorphic disorder), and there's a huge stigma associated with it. HTs were the only thing to alleviate my adolescent depression caused by severe hair loss.
  7. Sean, great post. Very insightful. I thought seriously about these same issues, why ISNT insurance covering some cosmetic procedures? Maybe because people think if it's not "life-threatening" that it's considered cosmetic. But "detrimental to mental health" should be considered life-threatening, for obvious reasons. I was considering going to a psychiatrist to somehow find a way to write it off as just that.
  8. The 8 years of life BEFORE having the time and money to do it were pretty painful I would say..... Other than that, the most painful was the staple removal (a total of 3 minutes), the first night of sleep (not painful, just uncomfortable), and any stretching i within a week post-surgery. Stay home during your ugly duckling period. Theres a million shows and movies free online, take advantage of it.
  9. I guess I'm late but im sure you realized a neck pillow would be your best bet for sleeping at 45 degree angle.
  10. Anyone else live like that for a while? Just had my 2nd hair transplant, so i'm hoping after the results are fully apparent, I won't live like that anymore. The "shame" and stigma of being bald was irrationally worse to me than just lowering my standards for jobs and only applying to positions where I knew I could wear a hat (i.e. library assistant in college, tour guide, etc.).
