  1. Ahhhhhhh... What a nice feeling to have them out! Last time- 3000 grafts 58 staples. This time- 2200 grafts 73 staples. ZOWIE! Anyway- Here's an important tip for anyone taking them out- Do your best to have all scabs gone, and take a nice warm shower prior to removal. It seems to soften the scalp quite a bit. The 1st time I did not do this, and every staple "stung" coming out. THIS time, half of them I didn't feel anything. The other half I felt, but no big deal. There were only about 5 that were stingers. (nothing that makes you bite your tongue off- they just smart a bit...) Anyway- Just a pointer! (Oh- I also had a nice Nerf Football to squeeze just in case...) Futzyhead
  2. The way I look at it is that the surgeon is not "transplanting hair" he is "transplanting the cells which make the hair grow later"... (i.e. the tissue that surrounds the hair)
  3. I've lost over 40# since I've been on Proscar (propecia). I don't know about muscle tone though- I haven't heard... I have been watching fat and carbs to lose the weight... I haven't experienced any side effects... Futzy Futzy's web page
  4. I just answered my own question- I looked back at your old before pictures... You had some fair coverage to start with- Still a 5, but I was pretty much chrome-dome in the front 1/3... You should be pretty stoked, my friend! 2669 on top of what you had is going to be awesome I think! Here's to a speedy recovery! Futzy
  5. Looks great! What NW class were you in from the start? At my 1st procedure, I was a NW5a and had 3000fu's. I'm guessing that you are in roughly the same boat? (it's hard to tell, but it looks like the same acreage...) Congratz! Come the holidays, you and I should be seeing some excitement! Now HEAL, My brother! Heal!
  6. I think the average range is 80-100/cm2. I'm shooting for 3 more HT's to get around 260/cm2.
  7. James- Sorry for the delay in my response... I've been pretty slammed. My scar has been thin since the get-go... I could cut my hair pretty short from the beginning. It was pink for a while, but it was always thin. Every time I get my haircut I always ask for a "# 2"... It has never gotten wider- And i'm sure it never will... Let me know if you have more questions. I'm happy to help! Futz
  8. Ditto- Mine was ear to ear too...
  9. Great job! I love the pictures- You must be so excited- It really takes a huge jump from here to 6 months. I couldn't belive it when I put my 4 month and 6 month pictures side by side... Have fun with it- And thanks for the updates and excellent pictures! Futzyhead Futzy's pictures
  10. I'm not sure where you went, so I can't talk about your particular group. I will say that I had the same concern- I had the same thing up until, oh- around 4 months? It got better every week- But even at 3-4 months, they looked like "large pours". Kinda like how the pours on your nose get larger with age... Anyway- I wouldn't be too concerned yet- especially if you went to a reputable surgeon. It's just going to take a while for all of the incisions to heal. Hang in there!
  11. same here- 58 staples- here... here's my pics, if you haven't seen them- I've tried to show about everything that I can... Futzyhead's pictures
  12. .5 for me... Not sure- I will admit that I am a pansy when it comes to pain... But I really didn't have any- Well- With the exception of taking the staples out! But that took 5 minutes or so... But nothing other than that- Are you the norm? Or am I? Interesting poll- Futzy
  13. I was told only to do the cup of water on the head for the 1st couple of days. then, wash and rinse as normal... That's probably why the scabs are still there... My scabs were gone on days 7-8
  14. Cool- Thanks. I'll have a read. Mine's nice and smooth and all that. It's just a little pink- I suppose that would fade over time either way... BTW- isn't it nice and peacful here? lol
  15. Does the Mederma take the color out of the scar (red to pink, pink to flesh-tone" or does it just soften it?
  16. I'm not 100% about this... I heard NOT to do anything to it. I was wondering if you "lubed it up" if it might soften the tissue, causing it to widen? Just a thought. Mine was all healed up and nice looking at about 10-12 days... I only used the graftcyte shampoo... Futzy
  17. Horsey- I had the same experience right at 3 weeks too... They popped out, and fell asleep. And a few of the grafts grew from the start. I'm 2 months post op now, and the new "sprouts" are still there, but still sleeping. The real excitement is still a couple of months away for me. Futzy
  18. Here here Arfy... Well put. Read up- Look at hairlosshelp.com and thebaldtruth.com too. Also, if you go to a consult, listen to the answers to your questions. They will sometimes try to pull the wool over your eyes. I went to MHR and wanted to see pictures of patients. Now, here's where the "gotcha" was: I asked him if they were from the doctor I was looking into. The consultant said, "Well- No... But the procedures are all the same..." Heh- Yeah RIGHT! They couldn't show me one example from this doctor... Again- Ask questions and listen to the answers... Arfy is right- It's not for everyone. Read the posts in these forums, educate yourself, THEN decide. You will learn a lot. Short hair? My scar is thin, and my hair is thick. I can were my hair fairly short but you'd see the scar if it was a Marine-cut I think... Of course my scar hasn't had time to fade yet so time will tell... Futzy
  19. I lost mine too- Scabs pop off around day 5-7... I lost most of my 3000 grafts- normal!
  20. sorry here it is: my web page
  21. 3000 grafts Click above- Can't see the full effect yet, but it's just some info for ya- I'm only 3 weeks along...
