Hi,

I was just wondering why people who have had two Ht go with different surgeons?

People get one done and say they are delighted with the surgeon, but they get there 2nd procedure done with someone else.

why is that?

It can be one of a couple of reasons. For me, I feel I was a little short-sighted when approaching my first HT. I had researched some, but looking back probably not enough. I was concerned with location, when I shouldn't have been. Also, I believe I was caught in the shift from a mega-session being somewhere around the 1500-2000 mark, whereas now you can achieve over 3000 at once with 5000+ happening frequently.

My first Doc did a decent job. After I reading some of the horror stories on this site and others I'm so thankful for the results from my first HT. Looking back, my only real issue was that I was a NW4+ going in and needed much more than 1200 grafts. If I'd gone to a H&W the first time, I may have been able to get the total from both my HT's all in one session.

So, for me, the reason for the switch was for a larger session, and, due the high quality results my second HT Doc had shown.

For several (Hairworthy comes to mind), it's just personal preference. They had a super experience at one place but have read great things about another Doc and they just want to try them out.

Of course, occasionally and unfortunately, it stems from disappointment with the previous HT surgeon.

It also seems that some surgeons are better known for certain procedures. Some are known for their hairline work, some for crown work, etc. So, it could also depend on the type of procedure a person is getting.

Not quite. As kamin said just above, it all depends on the type of work you need. My two procedures had two different goals, and I chose the surgeon I felt was the best for the job. A bit early to comment on the final results of my surgery with Dr E but I'm already extremely happy with the work he did on my scar, which went from big to almost undetectable whilst, stangely, my scalp feels a lot less tight than it did before. Because of his particular expertise in plastic surgery, there was no doubt in my mind that Dr E was the best to fix my scar. As for the HT itself, the growth hasn't started yet of course (5 weeks post op), but I'm confident the results will be just as great as Dr H's.

3045 FUs with Dr Victor Hasson on 8 June 2004
