  1. I'm not a doctor so I don't know whether the combination of these ingredients really does what it says on the box. I had never heard of "enhanced potassium channel activity" before. I guess it would help to have the viewpoint of some of our resident physicians. The other question is of course about the unwanted side-effects. The lack of feedback anywhere on the Internet tells me there are none (people are usually very quick to shout when something's not right), but I wonder whether this product is like "vitamins for the hair" or whether it has the potential to change the hormonal balance of the body.
  2. I'm resurrecting this thread because there's intensive advertisement for TRX2 in the UK right now. Some of the FAQs, in particular the ingredients and the use alongside minox & finasteride can be found here: http://www.hairsite.com/hair-loss-treatment/trx2/trx2-faq.htm. I have mixed feelings about this. Looking at the various comments on the web, I see no strong views against it although it's been on the market for 2 years, giving potentially unhappy people plenty of time to speak up. And since it is a dietary supplement with - apparently - no side effects, I'm willing to give it a shot. The only thing I don't like is the price, ie about 50 Euros for 30 days (ie a bottle of 90 capsules @ the recommended dose of 3 per day). Finasteride works fine when taken every other day, I'm wondering whether they're not pushing for consumption. Perhaps just one of these things every day would work just as fine? What do you all think about this product?
  3. Hey spex & Jotronic, don't bury me too quickly, I'm still around! I attach my latest pic, taken 10 months ago. All the best to you both (and Pat, and Bill) for 2013. Looking forward to meeting you again at some stage.
  4. Quick update to let my hairloss brothers (Pat, Bill and others) know that I haven't forgotten about them! No 3rd HT planned for the moment. Checked my hair in the swimming pool's mirror last month, just coming out of the water with very wet hair, and did not see my skull at all. Full coverage. Can't tell you how great that felt. Here's a pic taken a few weeks ago under the bright Nevada sunshine. Happy New Year to all!
  5. Again, it all depends on the stage of your hairloss. Been taking Proscar, then generic finasteride (cheaper) religiously for over 5 years now with great success. The way I measure it is through the amount of hair left on my brush in the morning. Loads before, none now. I strongly believe finasteride saved my crown. Of course this is a "life sentence", once you start, you can not stop. But I have accepted that, and it's no more difficult than taking your vitamin C in the morning.
  6. Funny how the reputation of Doctors comes and goes with the wind, how some are flavour of the month and then disappear into the archives of this forum. It's been like that ever since I joined. Every single doctor mentioned here received his share of criticism at one stage or another. Whether it's Dr Hasson or Dr Epstein, I'm still extremely happy with my results and wouldn't hesitate going back to either of them tomorrow. When it comes to HTs, there's no such thing as "one size fits all". No matter how great a Doctor is, he/she's never going to make miracles, and you'll always have guys unhappy with their results who'll blame it all on the Dr. Unsurprisingly, it's always the minority that shouts the loudest, and you don't hear about the large number of satisfied patients who never come back to this forum after their HT, simply because they're pleased with the results and don't feel they need to write here anymore. I think the numbers given by Dr Epstein above speak for themselves. How many happy guys for one unhappy one? 50? 100? I'm certainly one of them. My latest picture is attached.
  7. I was about to start my usual paragraph on UK clinics but thanks to richie48 I won't have to. I fully endorse his last post, and in particular this bit: Spex, nice list on the previous page but don't forget me next time: a living example of a young guy butchered in the UK, who was later lucky to find this forum and subsequently his salvation with H&W and Epstein. Have your HT in the UK and live to regret it...
  8. Me against the rest of the world huh? I don't care, I'll continue to speak my mind. Every US/Canadian surgeon that I mention in my first post can provide HUNDREDS of pictures showing patients with outstanding results, both in coverage and density. I look at Farjo's website and I can't see ONE. Farjo widely advertises the english actor Shawn Williamson as the flagship of his patients (the Farjo brochure seen in the program actually features Shawn on the front page). Well I'm looking at Shawn's pictures here and frankly: how could ANYONE be pleased with that HT? Poor coverage, low density and the work done is OBVIOUS, which is exactly the opposite of what an HT should be. I've got nothing against Farjo, he probably does the best he can and probably is one of the "best" in the UK but, I'm sorry, he's simply not in the same league as the ones I mention. My "lay person"s opinion, and thank you Mick for authorizing me to have one!
  9. Couldn't agree more, especially with regards to the first part of your post on the "sutured donor site". Dr E's plastic surgeon skills are just amazing and even after 3 HTs (including a first one that was a rip off and left me with a big scar, compliments of the Nobel clinic in the UK) there is no trace of any work done in my donor area, and my scalp doesn't feel tight anymore as it used to. I would recommend Dr E to anyone, anytime.
  10. Well well, some interesting things in this program called "I hate my bald head" last night. Basically this tall bald guy was going from one place to another to find "a cure" to his baldness. Tried the usual scams, like oil on your forehead poured by a "doctor" who's obviously found a good way to rip people off. Then he tried a wig on, then the "glued haird" (Advanced Hair Studio style), both of which didn't last long, and then came the bit on HT. First he met Alan Feller in a hotel lobby, got a free consultation, told Feller what kind of "hair coverage" he had in mind, which was totally unrealistic: the guy was NW6, maybe more, and wanted full coverage with very poor donor area. Feller rightly told him that he should review his goals or forget about HT. He also told him that, due to his donor area characteristics, any transplanted hair coming from there was likely to fall within 5 years, which led the guy to summarize after the meeting that HTs were good for 5 years only (wrong of course). And then the guy went to see Farjo, to witness an actual HT. The patient was probably NW4, mid to late 30s, and wanted full coverage. Farjo had drawn a line around his forehead that went from ear to ear, with a very aggressive, Armani-like, temple filling. This was close to a NW2 hairline. Well there is obviously NO WAY this guy will get it, and whilst the surgery itself "looked" decent from the few seconds we saw, the goals were totally unrealistic and I doubt any of the top surgeons here (Shapiro, Feller, Epstein, H&W, etc) would have drawn such a low hairline on a guy that age. What the guy will get is poor coverage all around, he will continue to lose his hair behind the transplanted area and will look terrible. I hope we get to see his picture in 3 to 4 years. So since Farjo is considered "one of the best in the UK", this program convinced me even more that I should continue to cross the Atlantic for any work needed, and to advise others to do so as well.

  12. Funny to see that Feller uses exactly the same blue background as H&W for the pictures. I wonder why. Is there a technical reason to prefer blue to white or something else? Anyway, looking good PB.
  13. Glad to see that my topic is still active after 1 and a half year. Haven't changed my mind re: AA. He may be good but the docs I went to (one of them's just posted above) are probably better. Beware of money-hungry businessmen.
  14. Where are you now Pat? Just come back from a long trip abroad for my job, and missed a few events here in London. See my PM.
  15. Had my 2nd HT with him last year. My story is here. I highly recommend him.
