Senior Member HairRun Posted May 7, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 I've noticed neck beard grafts are in a very vascular area at the neck, and then maybe less at the chin and jaw. I wonder if there's some sort of correlation of how well they would do on the mid vs vertex/crown. Another area I see them being used is in the FUT scars and FUE scars. Maybe it would be aesthetically optimal to use them in the FUT/FUE scar, but since it's scar tissue, and beard grafts already have a 80% survival rate (vs 90-95 with scalp hair), maybe it's best to use them in mid scalp since that's the most vascular (assuming the frontal region is out of the question). Though I have seen them being used in the crown and FUT scars. Perhaps the survivability is not dependent on the vascular-ness of the area? Regular Member duckling Posted May 7, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 beard grafts can be used in mid-scalp and crown areas. It works well in both places. Its not suited for frontal area as people can make out the difference when they look at you. Scalp grafts are best for frontal area.
Senior Member Doron Harati Posted May 7, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 Beard grafts as said above are suitable for middle scalp and crown, BUT they need to be mixed with scalp grafts so it will give natural effect. 1 Doron Harati - Patient coordinator for HDC Hair Clinic, HT procedures are done by MD Doctors with Microscope FUE. Moderators Al - Moderator Posted May 9, 2023 Moderators Share Posted May 9, 2023 Beard grafts are usually best in the midscalp, but how well they will blend with scalp hair and where it's best to use them depends on two things. 1. Where you need them. If you ran out of scalp donor and are trying to fill in a crown, then I wouldn't want to remove midscalp grafts to put them in the crown in order to put the beard grafts in the midscalp. You are probably going to be better off just using the beard grafts in the crown. 2. What type of beard hair you have. Beard (and chest) hair varies greatly in different people. Some people don't have much of a difference between their scalp hair and their body hair. If that's the case then you can get away with using beard hair anywhere. I have beard hair on my hairline and I can't tell the difference. Al Forum Moderator (formerly BeHappy) I am a forum moderator for hairrestorationnetwork.com.
