DhtBlocker77
Hey all, New on the block here! II will keep this brief as I am not great with words and won't bore you I have been suffering from hair loss since 2004, I have been using Minox 5% mornings and 10% Minox cream night application since then and stabilized hair loss quite well, even gave me new growth in the first 6 years but of course gradually with age (38) now things will get baldy! (no pun) so after two years of research whilst in lockdown (UK), I decided last week to book a consultation with the forum. Dr. Farjo in Manchester. I paid the £95 fee and was on my way to the clinic today and feeling nervous. The clinic was lovely, nice and clean and modern! The staff was amazing! I was warmly welcomed and attended to quite quickly. Dr Farjo was absolutely amazing! We talked like friends, going into the personal side of the effects of hair loss etc., and then it was straight to business. I sat in front of the mirror, and he went to analyze my donor area and explained to me how good the density was and how FUE procedure works. He then drew a design on my head with a marker. I suffer from frontal and crown hair loss, so due to my donor area being average, he said that he would recommend 2000 plus FUE grafts or 3000 grafts over two days for the hairline and frontal forelock. He also advised that a future procedure would be required for the crown. So, after all the talk and no pressure at all, I was left with a price and that was £6 per graft. So if I decide to take the HT then it will cost around £9600 for 2000 grafts and a bit more if it's the 3000 grafts of course. Not sure what the pricing model is like in the UK if this is near the average or not. It was a pleasurable experience today and it was my first consultation and was not sure what to expect! So now I have to sit down and think about my next steps, I am thinking about having a consultation with Dr. Arshad and then also then thinking about heading to Europe most likely Belgium. Would to hear your thoughts and also any recommendations for UK and Europe clinics : )
Senior Member RTC Posted May 5, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted May 5, 2022 I would advise you to check out Dr Bisanga of BHR and Dr Mwamba at FUEClinic in Belgium. I feel you will probably get better VFM abroad. I am from the UK and will be having surgery with Dr Mwamba in June, although that's partly due to the nature of the surgery (repair of a previous procedure). 1 Hattingen September 2023 - Punchouts
Senior Member Britanium Posted May 5, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted May 5, 2022 Dr Farjo is capable of good work, you will find a plethora of results here on the forum. But as you actually mentioned Europe… You could choose some of the best/elite Drs in Spain/Portugal/Belgium and you would actually have much, much better value ! Winner, winner as they say 👍🏽 Im also from the Uk, and it’s pretty well known that better options exist elsewhere.

Senior Member drawdownfx Posted May 6, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted May 6, 2022 If you really want to stay in the UK am sure you can negotiate that price per graft to be honest! So definitely try to do that. My hair transplant Journey with Dr. Freitas
DhtBlocker77
Thanks guys, really helpful information! I was quite takenback especially thinking I would be able to get both frontal and crown done in one full day. I might try and negotiate the price but at the moment I think I will skip DR Arshad's consultation and get booked in for one with Dr Bisanga as I am very impressed with the work he is doing!

DhtBlocker77
So gentlemen had 24 hours to sit down and reset after a day trip to London to see DR Bisanga. The consultation was 30 mins and cost £50. I was welcomed by Dr Bisanga and his staff at the hotel which was quite nice. Sat down and we spoke about my goals and the reasons behind my decision behind having an HT. Dr took two snippets at the back and sides of the back and then took close up magnified shots of the donor area. Dr gave me his advice, my Doner area is average and he advised that getting an HT with some of the weaker follicles would not make sense as these hairs would eventually miniaturize leaving an unwanted thining HT in a few years. He advised me that a more suitable option would be to take Minoxidil orally or Fin for a year and then have another consultation and see if the weaker hairs and more density will be created in the donor area. There was no pressure at all and no sales! It was a great Consultation. So there you have it guys! Age is 39 and NW4 so I have decided first time in my hair loss battle since 2004 I will be taking Fin 1mg three times a week along with Minoxidil 5% topical and let's see where this journey takes me, could be some hair that regrows and makes me happy or it does not and hopefully, the donor area is stronger for an HT.

A very worthwhile consultation! That’s one thing i particularly like about Dr Bisanga is the no nonsense/honest/ethical approach to anybody seeking a hair transplant. He doesn’t tell people what they “want” to hear, more what they “need” to hear 👍🏽😉 Edited May 22, 2022 by J-C
Senior Member GaryStruthers Posted May 22, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted May 22, 2022 Awesome DHT!! I did this very thing for a year to make sure I was ok on meds (as most of us have to commit for life) so why not right? I grew a Norwood back, and Dr. Bansal has way more to play with now. Great choice!
DhtBlocker77
One question I forgot to ask was that taking fin for the year will grow hair and strength the vellus hair but once these are extracted as strong hair will they remain strong or will they just miniaturize? How long have you guys been on fin ? any sides? I have been so scared to take it but finally taking the plunge!
