Broscientific way of testing systemic absorption?

Here is a proposal:

- Apply the topical product on one half or side (left or right) of your scalp for a period long enough to expect results (3-6 months).

- Compare the two sides using photographs and videos taken before, during and after the said period.

- If no growth or improvement in rate of miniaturisation on either side, the product does not work.

- If comparable growth or improvement in rate of miniaturisation seen on both sides, the product was absorbed systemically.

- If growth or improvement in rate of miniaturisation seen on the applied side and not the other side, the product was not absorbed systemically (or little).

Not a good idea. Unless you don't care about actually keeping your hair and just like experimenting on yourself for curiosity's sake. And it assumes each of your hair follicles all over your head have the same genetically programmed level of vulnerability to DHT. While there is a general 'pattern' to male pattern baldness, it doesn't progress in perfect synchronicity and symmetrically like that. We all have our 'good sides' when it comes to features, and that includes hair as well.

If keeping hair is the only goal, oral Fin is a tried and tested approach and probably works best. This proposal was for the goal of keeping hair, but not at the cost of systemic DHT inhibition.

It's an imperfect approach, but issues with asymmetry can be mitigated by extending the period of the test.

It was just an idea to consider for those who aren't currently doing anything due to the fear of adverse effects of DHT inhibition. So there is no question of "sacrificing potential results" for someone like that.
