Advices for surgeons or clinics

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

This forum has become my second bedside book because I consult it so much.
My name is Franck, 51 years old. I have been suffering from androgenic alopecia for a few years, I am on a Norwood scale of 3 vertex.
It's been more than 6 months since the idea of a HT came to me. The more I see the photos, the more I read your comments on this forum, the more I am convinced to take the step.

I live in France but I am not at all closed to going abroad like Portugal, Spain, or even Turkey.

I had a look at the various posts on valid clinics in Paris or even in France but I couldn't find anything relevant.

My budget could be high in the hope of having a successful and lasting transplant.

Very recently I have requested several online consultations but still waiting (Ferreira, Pinto)

To avoid too much trauma I would rather consider an DHI method or at least a minimally invasive one.

I am interested in any advice you have on the subject: surgeons near France or even in France

Thanks for your help

Hello,

You'll be much better off going to Spain, Portugal or Belgium than staying in France. I'm sure there's a decent clinic or two in the country, but no one on here knows of any, so it's much better to go with one of the many options that is known by people on here and can be backed up with lots of good patient posted results.

To be honest, I don't really know how much less traumatic DHI is than say pre-made slits. Maybe it is a little, but it's inconsequential when all is said and done imo. Just make your decision based off which doctors work you like and not the method they use.

Bonjour Franck !
Welome to the forum 👍🏽 You have already mentioned Dr Ferreira + Dr Pinto which are obviously excellent choices.
With all of the elite Drs in Spain, Portugal, Belgium etc available to you then i wouldn’t even consider any In France.
You also have Dr Freitas, Dr Couto, Dr Lorenzo and Dr Vila for Spain, Dr Bisanga, Dr Mwamba, Dr Feriduni and Dr Lapunzula for Belgium.

I agree with @JDEE0 Dr Ferreira + Dr Pinto may use DHI but the others I have mentioned mostly use pre made slits (Vila uses DHI), but I don’t believe either is more/less traumatic.
It’s results that matter, and we are talking of some of Europes best here.

Do not limit yourself to Spain and Portugal, you have amazing doctors in Belgium as well. Some of the best. Take a look at our full list, submit consultations, and then choose based on results, cost and then convenience.

You need to work backwards. Focus on patients with similar hair loss as yours and results that similar to your goals. The technique is secondary to this and in many ways irrelevant. All the best and welcome to the forum!

Thanks @Gatsby I'm going to do that, I must admit that I'm a novice in this field.

Is there any specific posts in this forum per Norwood scale category ?

Hey everyone!
After a lot of research through this forum and also thanks to the help of some forum members, my choices of HT are 3 surgeons, 2 in Turkey among the top recommended list and 1 in Portugal.

I wanted to share with you the feedback I got from 3 surgeons. I of course sent photos from different angles showing my hair loss evaluated on a scale of NW to IV. After a few days of waiting the results came back
Turkey 1: 4000 grafts with probably a 2nd operation to cover the crown. My donor area remains small.
Turkey 2: 3500 to 3800 grafts, not sure if a 2nd operation would be useful
Portugal and this time I appoint the surgeon Dr Bruno Pinto: the verdict is in, not a good candidate for a HT, 2 reasons for this, the first is that my donor area is not large enough to qualify for a HT. The second is that I would have DUPA, in short, a catastrophe for me.

Without wishing to judge the relevance of the analysis of the 2 Turkish surgeons, perhaps they did not have enough photos or elements to be able to have the same conclusions as Dr Bruno Pinto. A frankness and an ethical approach that I can only respect in view of my request and the cost of an operation. And as his assistant said, it would have been suicidal for my donor area to do a HT.
I would like to underline the professionalism and honesty of their team. Everything was said with pragmatism.

Now I am faced with a big dilemma, on their advice the drug treatment remains a valid alternative and confirmed by many patients with very good results but I fear the side effects of Fin.

I thought my life would change after HT...
