Atommic
Hi, i am interested in knowing people's opinion on the best surgeons i should direct myself for a hair transplant in the US. I currently live in Chicago and I am mostly interested in getting a 3500ish graft FUE procedure. Apologies if the topic has already been discussed elsewhere and thanks in advance. Mirai
@Atommic I had a hair transplant done with Dr. Panine back in 2015. He was logistically the easiest option for me based on the recommended doctors here, so I chose him. Also because his results were pretty good. Unfortunately, my result didn't end up to my expectations. I had almost 4000 FUT grafts done in what was supposed to be the frontal 1/3 but the end result looks like it was like 1500 grafts around the hairline. I went back to get an assessment of the results and was told it was because I had too many single grafts and that I should have gotten and FUE instead. I wish I was told this before the surgery so I would not have gotten an FUT and be left with a scar I can still feel on my scalp today. I was told I would get a good deal on the next surgery by him but I was hoping something could have been done with the result I had gotten. I was a low confidence naive kid back then so I didn't fight it and just accepted it. He usually posts his patient's results on here but didn't for me. Objectively speaking, I would still say my case was an aberration to his otherwise good body of work.

They should have analyzed your donor first before they offered the fut.

Yeah. They took a close-up picture of my donor area when I visited them to assess my final result. That's when I was told I was not a good candidate for FUT and should get FUE next. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted January 23, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted January 23, 2022 Dr. K is the best in the biz, and I can't recommend him enough. But also consider his protege, Dr. Nadimi, who also does meticulous work. Dr. G: 1,000 grafts (FUT) 2008 Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013 Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020 My Hair Transplant Journey with Shapiro Medical Group
