Hey to everyone..

its been a month already i started taking Propecia
in the last days i started to feel some wierd feeling in my testicles.. not a sharp pain but a discomfort feeling..
i got also some difficulty to get an erection and keep it hard...
but to be honest i had some erection issues about two-three months ago before using Propecia due all the covid situation and it gave me some anxiety..
so i dont know about the erection problems if its due the propecia or not
im having hard times to get erect with my girlfriend
so i tried watch porn and after a while watching i had an erection but didnt last long if i didnt masturbate constantly.

im waiting for my doc to tell me what to do
but im thinking of quiting this med or maybe lower the dose.

any thoughts??

PS - im 29 yrs old and after a HT (fue) temples and hairline repair so i still have hair in the rest of the scalp so this is why i started taking propecia

Had a similar HT, I took my first dose of finasteride today but I cut the tablet in half. Doing a 0.5mg dosage and hoping for the best.

Honestly I keep getting told 1 in 10k people have sides but it all seems way too common.

Lol watching porn isn’t what you need. You may be getting performance anxiety and are blowing a lot of this up in your head. Slow down and cut your dosage down a bit and see how you react. Get your doctors take, and be patient. If you just had surgery, and just started taking medication, naturally you are embodying a lot of stress, esp with all the shit going in the world, now you have to think about whether your gf will put up with your wang not working or whatever else you have on your head. Just bring the dosage down and see how you respond slowly. Watching porn to try to get some stimulation won’t do anything but build up anxiety

I hooked up with a girl last year before I was on any medication, and spent most of the time worrying whether she could notice my hairline thinning and whatever other insecurities, like an idiot, and I remember Building up anxiety and could remember feeling my dick go soft. Whatever happens you will be fine, If the medication is creating sides, taper down, and if it continues it will subside if you come off

I can relate so much to your post Torontoman.Taking fin at least gives you the feeling that your'e doing something to fight hairloss.

The psychological effect for me was massive.I stopped having the allday everyday doom hairloss caused and just trusted it within personal experience.

4 years on-hairloss steadied and a lot more space to think and consider my options. Its no solution to inevitable hairloss, but it will buy you time.

Im just sorry i didnt know about it sooner, and when i did i hesitated for so long over the possible sides.

Can’t pitty yourself for not going on it earlier, naturally everyone is going to be hesitant, I did the same for 2 years.  I think even if someone told me to get on it before I noticed my own thinning, I still probably would have been in denial of my loss/ hesitant to commit to a drug after never being on any sort of medication ever. Thankfully we have transplants. Gotta accept the situation, deal with it, and move on 👊🏻

Sides do sometimes happen on fin, but most studies have shown that in the vast majority of cases they're only transient. Which is usually the case with almost every single pharmaceutical when you first start taking. I myself did briefly experience some side effects early on. It was reduced ejaculation volume and for a time my libido totally crashed. I must admit this caused me to get horribly stressed out! Constant worrying made everything that much harder (or lack there of 🤣) I had ED. But it was 100% because of the stress... (I know this because I still experienced morning wood so obviously everything works down there haha.)Which brings me to my next point...

It is important thing to underscore is the incidence of the Nocebo effect. The FDA report from the controlled studies has shown this as well. (You can find it on google). Studies did indeed show that rates of erectile dysfunction were almost the same in the placebo group than in the group who were administered the drug. Which of course means that they probably experienced the very same problem that I did... im sure many who take fin can relate to it.

But this didn't last. I had low libido for about 2-3 weeks. I was contemplating quitting the drug. But I decided not to because of the studies I read. Eventually Libido returned to normal levels, I was still stressing about psychological ED though. By month 3 on Fin, everything felt totally fine and I began to worry less and less... its now been 10 months and everything is great. No noticeable side effects at all! The result on my hair has been significant!! Its important not to stress because while yes it is possible that fin can cause physiological ED, most of the time its psychological!

Hey if worst comes to worst, get yourself some ED pills haha... even if the issue is psychological they work. I even tried a couple when I was so worried, they worked great lol...
