1 Week Post-Op

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if everything is looking normal at this juncture. I am now exactly 1 week out of Dr Saifi's operating chair following 2,040 FUE follicles.

The donor area looks to be healing ok but there is still little flecks of scabbing in it and a very mild bruising sensation that is fading away. I stopped spraying yesterday after 5 days of very regular spraying. I wash/shampoo daily with mild shampoo by pouring 4 or 5 cups of shampoo over my head and letting it dry naturally.

I'm finding it hard to see much growth activity in the recipient areas, perhaps because my hair is blonde, very very short and mixed with scabs right now? As for the scabbing in the recipient area there are cracks between scabby areas. I assume this is normal? There is some mild bruising arond the temporal points which doesn't worry me. I have not worn any hats, I've mostly stayed indoors in my room. I'll continue to take it easy for another week at least.

I hope everything is going as it should be but I have a few little worries. I had two small bumps coming home last week. I hope this didn't ruin anything. Also I have accidently touched a small part of the grafted area  - the back left part - once or twice by putting my hand on my head. I also patted a bit of my head on day 4/5 after waking up. I might have touched one of the temporal areas too at one stage. I've been trying my best to sleep on my back so I'm hoping I haven't rolled my head into the pillow too hard.

Does everything seem ok or could I be missing grafts? Would grafts have fallen out in the shower when I'm pouring water over my head, or could any have rubbed out onto my pillow if I was rolling around at night?

Looks good to me. Your donor area is healing well! Recipient area looks clean and I cannot see any issues.

Really yeah? If you are right then that is good. I'm not so much worried about the donor area, I just hope the recipient area is as it should be. Would one notice if grafts were missing or if anything was going wrong at this stage? I've highlighted a little bit on the left side that seems to either have a bigger crack in the scab or its more bare, I'm not sure. I hope its normal though.

I see I see. Interesting. I wish 8 months would hurry up so I can see the result already 😭

Oh, man, the wait.. Tell me about it. Wish I could just hibernate through it like a grizzly bear and wake up to some nice thick locks.

Its so annoying isn't it. We have to go through this proper shit stage first before anything good happens. I'd probably have a mental breakdown if it doesn't come out well.

I echo what @JohnAC71 said, your donor area looks absolutely amazing at 1 week post op. 😮 It's undetectable you had surgery.

As for the recipient, mine looks similar, maybe less scabs, but similar channels, gaps, etc. And even though I read all about it beforehand, I was still scared shitless when I saw them on my head. It's weird how I couldn't find a decent medical explanation. I think those are not even real gaps as such, it has to do something with regional swelling (nothing inflammatory though) or increased skin elasticity or both. Once it settles and your scalp heals, etc. you might not even see them anymore. Nothing that will affect the result.

What I'm doing these days and it helps psychologically, when I wake up I say hello to my grafts, air pat them and pray for their long and prosperous life. I ask them if there's anything I can do to make their stay more hospitable. I know how hard it is to get used to a new place. I pray for their survival more so than for my own.

On a more serious note, everything looks good, you're following post op instructions very diligently and take great care of those babies. :)

@UnbaldEaglethats a good approach, but please don’t talk to your follicles out in public by mistake 😂

Oh, I don't go out at all, don't want my grafts to get social anxiety or anything like that. They've been on the back of my head so it's not like they saw a lot of people before. It just concerns me.

Ok right I'm happy enough with the donor area, its just the all important recipient neighbourhood that has me anxious, but I guess the anxiety is natural. So long as it looks ok then I can relax. I just thought I'd see more hair growing by now. Remind me of where/what procedure you had again?

Your methods for coping through these tough times sound very helpful 😂

I used to think the same, what's in the front is all that matters. Now I'm gradually changing that perspective. Don't downplay the importance of having a healthy, preserved donor, I think a moth-eaten or overharvested donor looks a lot worse than having poor density in the recipient, at least that would pass to more people as "okay, so he's balding", but as for your donor?

I think Saifi did a great job. :)

Thanks for thinking that, well, anything that eases your mind, right? 😁 I think it's fair to say we're both very anxious by nature, so we need some good coping mechanism in these next few months.

@Rossybopand you have done so well ! Just think by the summer you will both have new hair 🙏

Thank you John, hopefully by summer we'll both be rocking a lion's mane and rooting & encouraging you when you have yours at Eugenix. I reckon you'll get it done by then. :)

Thanks 😊 can’t see it happening anytime soon. India is closed off, some things are worth waiting for though.

I didn't know they were totally closed off but of course I'm not surprised. It looks like the world will soon be on the upswing though so maybe you'll get there quicker than you think :)
