Senior Member DenverBuff1989 Posted November 7, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 7, 2020 Hi all, Wondering when its ok again to start smoking weed post-FUE? I am currently 17 days out. I don't believe weed has any affect at all on the recipient hair growing (correct me if I'm wrong), but my concern/question lies in weed impact on the direct recovery post-FUE - will it affect my scabs, scalp, any other healing? I had a previous HT last yr and all the recipient hair grew in well and I smoked regularly - my memory is just hazy when I started smoking again :). The issue is just that not enough grafts were used. Thanks!
AuroraBorealis
It's difficult to suggest anything without knowing your health history in detail. But I suppose you won't have any problems...but at the same time it WON'T help you to grow any hair.
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted December 16, 2021 Valued Contributor Share Posted December 16, 2021 All types of smoking inhaled via the lungs reduces the oxygen content that travels around the body. Just my opinion but I'd quit if you can? I smoked a lot of dope at College and in my 20's but if their was the ability to have FUE/5ari's etc back then as their is today then the 'high' of having my hair back would have far outweighed any need for weed. That's just me man. All the best! 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
AuroraBorealis
Yeah, I smoked dope at college too. It was cool to get high and to relax after exams, but now I think that I should've found another way to cope with stress. Once again, I don't think that smoking weed is helpful with hair growing, but I've read some interesting research that were trying to prove its effectiveness. But again, these research were done many years ago, so I don't think there were used the most recent scientific methods. Still, I know some bald people who usually get weed boxes for growing hair purposes. I don't know if it helps them, but at least they should like smoking. Rahal Hair Transplant
Though it is often recommended to wait about a week or two to begin smoking cigarettes or marijuana, many hair transplant patients have done it anyway without adversely affecting the healing process, growth or the overall results. In general, if you follow the principles of "to err on the side of caution" and "everything in moderation", you should be ok. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant.
