While you are letting the crown 'swirl' area kind of lay naturally, you are combing your top hair in front of it straight forward. If you want to show less scalp blend your crown and top combing areas better, more in line with the directions your hair naturally grows. He's wearing what looks like the same dark blue shirt in all these, different wall/door/floor views of the same room in the pics, probably a few minutes apart where he combs his hair and then takes the top two pics.
