Regular Member marcin872 Posted June 2, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted June 2, 2018 Hi guys, I just had an fue procedure and am 15 days post op, Im returning to work tomorrow and wanted to trim my hair with a #2 guard. All my crusts were removed at day 10 and my hair looks back to normal. Im very confused with when its ok to trim the recipient area? I read some docs say after 10 days, others 2 weeks, 3 weeks and as far as 3 months. If the grafts are anchored and secure at 10 days how can trimming the hair pull out or damage a graft? Senior Member home1212 Posted June 3, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted June 3, 2018 your doctor's post op care information should have covered that ... mine officially stated 1st hair cut ok after 1 month; but at 3 weeks i got a trim to even things out before going back to work, but recipient area (which was my crown) was not touched
Regular Member marcin872 Posted June 3, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 3, 2018 I decided to trim with my clippers and everything went fine, I didn’t push down on the scalp as one would normally do just glided along the hair gently and slowly. Dr. Glenn Charles
No worries. Once the scabs have fallen off you really can't do any harm to the grafts at that point. Just remain patient and positive. Senior Member pkipling Posted June 8, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted June 8, 2018 There are about as many different answers to this as there are doctors, so I get the confusion. At this point, I think you're totally safe to buzz your hair. Be gentle and careful and go very slowly since your scalp may still be sensitive, but those grafts are definitely secure by now.
