2.5 months needle like pricks

Hi all,

I am 2.5 months post my FUE procedure in the crown area.

I'm seeing a few hair grafts that have not shed and are neither growing.

There is a small area, maybe just one or two grafts that give a needle like pricking sensation when slightly touched.

Is this normal?

Thanks!

Are you conversing with your physician?

That's primary.

But at 2.5 months usually the nerves have begun to regenerate almost in full, the rule of thumb says it can be as long as 3 months, so part of the healing process could be some tingling.

Well it isn't a tingling sensation. It's just that one graft or two that when I touch it slightly, it feels like a needle prick in the scalp. If not touched, there is nothing, no tingling or prick sensations.

Reach out your physician, could be nerve related/ healing related, I'm not qualified to say.

kuboid,

At 2.5 months, strange sensations in the donor and even recipient area as thing heal and grow is considered normal. I wouldn't expect to see any growth at this point...if you do, that's a real bonus. Hang in there though, you should start seeing some changes within a few months.

Best wishes,

Bill

What you're describing sounds like something that is very normal and unrelated to your HT. I often feel that pricking sensation in relation to hairs on my scalp, and my face and basically anywhere on my body. I'm betting a lot of people can relate to this. Even my girlfriend has mentioned it. I'm not surprised that it's stopped now as it's always very temporary.

I've had things like this before, not entirely related to my hair transplant, and wonder if it's just an ingrown hair of some sort. It's definitely something you can talk to your surgeon about if you find it particularly alarming.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.
