Hello all,

Yesterday I had my first hair transplant procedure with doctor Emrah Cinik in Istanbul. The day prior I landed after a 24 hours travelling from New Zealand. I was promptly picked up by a nice gentleman and driven to my hotel. Nice hotel however all the tv channels were turkish haha.

Next morning I was picked up at 7am sharp along with two other patients. Was met by a nice young lady and eacorted to see doctor Cinik, he is very friendly and welcoming, he consulted with me until we were both happy with the new hairline.

I was then taken to the operating room and my head was shaven the surgery began. The anesthetic was injected, quite painful but after 10 minutes I felt nothing. So that was fine. The nurse and technician extracted the grafts which took about 2 hours, they were friendly and spoke some english too.

Then we had a small break & Dr Cinik then came and began opening the canals. This took an hour or so then the nurse & technician inserted the grafts. This took about 2 hours aswell. After the surgery I felt very faint and the nurses gave me some orange juice which helped a lot.

After surgery I was given some medication and taken back to my hotel, was quite painful for first few hours though was fine after. The next day I was picked up & had my bandages removed & Dr Cinik reviewed my final result, he was pleased with the surgery & thinks my result will be very natural

Overall I'm very pleased with the whole experience and would recommend Dr Cinik's clinik for anyone looking at having a hair transplant.

Thanks for posting. I am considering this doctor for a future FUE. The price is great but I don't want to let hat be the most important factor since I've been stung twice before going with the cheapest. But this doctor seems to have great results online.

I look forward to following your growth journey.

BTW, how was Turkey? Is there any palpable hostility towards westerners at all?

Yeah my decision in choosing Dr Cinik was the great online feedback, as well as his easy going demeanour & genuine interest he shows in his patient's well being. Good price also, ticked all boxes for me.

I will upload more photos in the near future.

Turkey the country itself I really enjoyed, so so busy but not once did I feel any animosity or ill will towards me because of where I was from, I got on well with everyone. You will be fine pal.

Hello, Thank you for sharing your photos and story. Can you please explain me little bit about your this sentence " The nurse and technician extracted the grafts which took about 2 hours"

It means surgeon or doctor did not extract it?

Regards

Hi, no problem.

Yes that's correct, Dr Cinik was monitoring & checking in while they were doing it.

The technician working on me has been at the clinic four years so very experienced.

It's actually very common thing of HT surgeries in Turkey. Doctor himself/herself does not do the all work. And in my opinion, it is really wrong. Those technicians and nurses are not whom you think of. They are mostly graduate of health high schools. (There are various types of high school in Turkey. Regular, sciences, theology, craft, health...) Even sometimes, some people seeking HT doctor thoroughly encounter job adverts online and go nuts. Because these job adverts simply look for young employee with minimum/zero skill for HT "technician". Of course, people post the organizaton online to every forum in order to prevent people making wrong choices.

Then why doctor makes the work over to technicians? Because for most of them, HT procedure is just a boring, repeative, long procedure. Nothing exciting compared to other esthetic surgeries like nose-job, breast implant, etc. So they check-in and monitor occasionally whilst the technicians do all the work.

In an ideal world, the Doctor would perform the whole surgery alone but that's just not feasible, I don't know of any hair transplant doctors that don't use assistants, and if there are ones that don't they would be extremely expensive I would imagine. So long as the technicians are trained to a high standard I don't see any problems.

I felt I was in capable hands, have a browse of Dr Cinik's results around the place, he obviously has done well with his staff.

Hi,

Did you use some grafts on the sides also, looking at your pictures? I am interested because I have some thinning in the sides as well, especially in the area above my ears.

Hey mate,

Yeah recently my sides above my ears started to thin, so I asked if I could use some grafts there which was fine with Dr Cinik.

1 week post op, I love the feeling of slight tension on my hairline, feels of the follicles binding to my scalp. Had little to no pain 2-3 days after surgery, Some pics; Did take at night, lighting could be better. Cheers.

Hey man, Canadian here who is really looking into getting this procedure done. I've got some estimates done from doctors recommended on this website and have been getting prices around ~$10,000 USD for ~3,000 grafts which seems absolutely insane to me.

- Did you only have grafts put in by your hairline and side? Nothing on top or the crown area?

- How many days total did you have to stay in Turkey?

- Would you mind sharing how much the final price was at the clinic? (I'm not worried about the plane ticket and hotels fees)

Thanks man!

Hey pal,

Yeah that is quite expensive, which is why I went abroad. I had nearly all the grafts on my hairline and sides yes that's right, I think 50-100 grafts was put on my crown.

I arrived in Turkey on Monday afternoon, operation Tuesday morning, flew back to New Zealand on Wednesday evening.

Dr Cinik charges 1990 euros, which is about $2100 USD? For up to 5000 grafts. Price also includes 2 nights at the hotel which is 5 minutes from his clinic. It's a real bargain and I haven't seen any negative feedback about Dr Cinik upon researching before choosing him to do my transplant.

Holy shi... that's much cheaper and more along the lines of what I was hoping to pay. Thanks for sharing that info. I'm gonna check him out a bit more now and highly consider it. A round trip to Istanbul will only cost me 125 euros, another 2,000 for up to 5,000 grafts? Yes please!

Cheers! And good luck with the rest of your journey, hope to join you soon!

I just finished speaking with them, they gave me the same price of 1,990 euros. and estimate about 3,500-4,000 grafts. I feel like the price is too good to be true when other people are paying over 10,000 euros for theirs. How do you feel about it all, you must have had similar doubts that I'm having :P

Yeah it is a very good price. Obviously I did a lot of research on other websites with patient results, testimonies etc to reassure myself. I couldn't find anything negative relating to Dr Cinik & upon contacting them found the staff very helpful.

I'll second Spring15, I just got back from visiting Dr Cinik - it's the real deal. I'm writing up my experience about it now. Saved myself about $10k by flying to Istanbul and have a feeling my results are going to be just as good as if I did the procedure in the US.

Hi Rickyrixon,

Yes in the contract I received it stated if transplanted hairs don't grow the repair surgery will be free of charge, it doesn't state what density or percentage of grafts. I already have a lot of small hairs growing which will probably shed soon, I'm confident I will be happy with the end result so hopefully I won't have to use the guarantee! haha
