Senior Member Billena Posted September 27, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted September 27, 2016 Patients often ask about effective ways to conceal any donor scar after follicular unit transplantation (FUT). Two popular options are follicular unit extraction (FUE) from either donor scalp, beard, or chest or skin micropigmentation (SMP). Here are a couple examples of both for you to decide for yourself. --------- Carlos K. Wesley, M.D. is a member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Regular Member JeffC45 Posted October 4, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted October 4, 2016 Out of curiosity, were these scars the result of FUT procedures from other doctors or Dr. Wesley?
Regular Member JeffC45 Posted October 4, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted October 4, 2016 Also, a few of these subjects (#'s 1, 3, 5) look like they have two parallel strip scars. Is that unusual? I always thought subsequent procedures followed the exact scar of an initial procedure.
Senior Member MarieEvo Posted October 12, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted October 12, 2016 Hi, JeffC45. This patient had previous surgeries done elsewhere. He wanted Dr. Wesley to make those scars (on the "before" pic) from his previous procedures, done by another doctor, unnoticeable. Dr Wesley did an awesome job as seen on the "after" pictures! I have worked with 26 different hair restoration doctors throughout my career. I have now been a nurse with Dr. Wesley for more than a decade. Senior Member MrGio-WHTCClinic Posted October 13, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted October 13, 2016 What a significant improvement with FUE and SMP. Congratulations to Dr. Wesley and staff. JeffC45, Some strip surgeons perform the surgery with multi-blade scalpels so many patients find more than one linear scar. Some patients heal poorly, but some closures and sutures can also leave distinctive scarring. It's a possibility that 'stretch-back' occurred over a period of years, however, there is also a chance that the scar widened from subsequent excisions from the initial excision site. My opinions are my own. I am one representative of MyWHTC Clinic's European branch. Consultation Dates & Cities for Dr. Patrick Mwamba London, United Kingdom - Available (Sat.) Senior Member hsrp10 Posted October 15, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted October 15, 2016 Very good results in indeed! FUE with multiple-hair grafts into the scar combined with SMP is the best approach when donor supply allows. This is how I addressed a bad Bosley scar I had. Sometimes FUE doesn't grow well into scar tissue and SMP can also fade very quickly in scars as well, so individual differences may be seen. go dense or go home Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto (*indicates actual experience with doctor)
