Regular Member mansons Posted July 9, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted July 9, 2016 A fair bit of the grafts haven't shed yet, is this normal? Thoughts on the donor area? There seems to be heavy shock loss there. Any thoughts or comments on the pictures would be appreciated. 2 weeks post op reference - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/183811-post-fue-redness.html
Senior Member rev333 Posted July 9, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted July 9, 2016 Recipient looking great Donor looks like shock loss like you said But looks like an even distribution which is good news rogaine can thicken over time but this is a "forever" treatment of you want the benefits Will grow back regardless in 8 plus months maybe sooner

That hurts.
Regular Member mansons Posted July 9, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 9, 2016 Also, is it common that grafts have yet to fall after the 5 week mark?
Senior Member ontop Posted July 9, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted July 9, 2016 Bad news it looks like shock loss, good news is that the donor area seem to regrow faster than anywhere else. you could use rogain on the donor, that could speed things up, but run it by your Doctor first though. What type of surgery did you have FUSS or FUE? Can you name your HT Dr?
Senior Member JohnCasper Posted July 9, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted July 9, 2016 Your donor area may recover much quicker, maybe 3-4 months. Also the surrounding hairs will continue to grow about a half inch per month and will hide most of the area. Hang in there. Senior Member rev333 Posted July 10, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted July 10, 2016 Really standard time is 8 months? That hurts. No standard time it is not like you will have to wait 8 full months looking as it is now and then POW! They're back! Growth is gradual, just like the recipient area As the hair around the shock loss area grows, in 3-4 months like John Casper wrote, the shock should be less noticeable of not totally unnoticeable But some if not all of the Hair lost to shock MAY go into resting a few months then start to grow...by 8 months those should all be back Looks good though overall Also most people have shed most of their grafts by now, you haven't If you don't shed by 3 months, consider yourself not standard (aka lucky) re: recipient area Are you washing regularly and as aggressive as you did pre-HT? Not saying you should aggressively shampoo you head, but this might be contribute to the grafts staying put. Have you noticed growth? In any case, nothing can be done now but rogaine and fin and waiting it out a year Looks good though Congrats!

Regular Member mansons Posted August 23, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) Do you have photos of immediate post-op extraction in the donor region? Hey sorry for the late response, I had post-op pictures but I must have accidentally deleted them. 2 weeks post-op was posted in the original post. Anyway, Just going to update myself here, as I am almost 3 months post-op I can't tell if the shock loss hair have grown back, or if the hairs are overlapping to conceal it. For the guy that asked me about my age, I'm 42. I'd say 25% of the recipient area has not shed, while probably 30% of the hairs started growing. 2 months 3 weeks post op- Edited August 24, 2016 by mansons
