Getting ready for hair transplant in India - seeking help

Recommended Posts

I am 35 and losing my hair since last 6-7 years. I think I am in Norwood 5 right now.. I have been thinking and making up my mind to get FUE done but the thought of getting hair transplant done itself is giving me goose bumps. I have done my part of research and have been reading all the posts, tracking the progress of doctors and finally made my mind to get it done in the month of Jan when I get my fat bonus (probably) :-)

Before I choose a day and go for it, I want to talk to respected members and get their feedback on doc and their price in India. So far i have shortlisted three doctors -

Dr Bhatti - Who after seeing my pictures suggested me to go for 3000 graft in one session and that will cost me around INR 3,00000 which is really a lot as compared to other docs in Pune. Dr Bhatti is also recommended in this forum and his work looks awesome in most cases but he is way off my place which is Pune so I am still thinking about him.

Dr Poshwal - He is asking me the almost same price but he is not listed here in the network so i am kind of confused.

DR. PRASHANT YADAV (Dezire Hair transplant center Pune ) : I read about his work on other website and looks good but the concern is that he was never mentioned in this network and no one talks about his work. But he is offering me a very good discount and 3000 grafts will cost me around 1 lakh which is very less as compared to other doctor. I really need some input for this doc as the cost is very lucrative.

Please help me take a decision and if anyone knows about the work of Dr Prashant please share the thread !! reference to other doctors near pune/Mumbai are also welcome.

Also, I am attaching my pictures in order to ask feedback about my baldness and the the graft required. What kind of hairline should I choose.

Guys, I have been reading the threads for quiet some time and amazed to see how people share their thought here.. I am hoping to get some good feedback and will power to get it done in next two months.

thanks and good day you all !!

All the 3 doctors you have mentioned have had good results. Perhaps one of them is more pricier than other for a good reason.

Dr. Bhatti is the only HT surgeon recommended on this forum amongst your choices. If you think Chadigarh is far away then consider doing more research about available options in your area.

I think in my opinion you will need more than 3000 grafts for optimal results covering frontal and crown areas. For now your donor area also looks good. (I am a physician but not a HT specialist, so my opinions be considered as such coming from a non-HT specialist personnel)

But nothing can beat face to face professional assessment with a reputed HT specialist. But I suggest doing some more research, talking to the patients of a HT surgeon, critical examination of their results so far etc..,,before you jump in.

Getting HT done is a very difficult decision to make for most people, lots involved in the process given that a bad result can be devastating...there is no dearth of qualified professionals who would give you optimal results, but also the field is ridden by some crooks who can easily ruin your life, so take ur time before you jump in......

All the best.

I have done my 3500 FUT from Dr Prashant Yadav on 2nd of Feb. I will write an overall review of dr Prashant and his clinic very soon but this is my day six and I would like to mention that I am doing good so far.. My donor area is recovering and there are lots of black scabs on the grafted area. My five days medications are over and I am just using Johnson's Baby shampoo for head wash and one medicine for existing hair loss.

I traveled to US right on the 3rd day of transplantation. My journey was okay and did not get any trouble. I was wearing a bandanna over my head all the time. Beside this I have few concerns which I want to post here so that someone can tell me if this is normal or not.

I am losing black scabs with little hair in it. Every time I take off my Hat. I see few of them coming out, I believe these are grafted hair which is falling after wounds are healing and scabs are making them fall.. Is that normal on the first week of FUT ?

My scalp is very itchy and dry. Should I use something to feel better ?

Its very cold here in US and hard to survive with a Hat. Is it okay if I wear a warm woolen monkey cap to hide my FUT as well as it will prevent me from extreme cold. Someone told me not to put warm/woolen cap on the grafted area. Is this true ?

Can I put hair fibers like topikk or something on the grafted area to make it look better so that I can go to office without putting a cap.

Veterans, Please share your thoughts on this.. I have crossed my fingers for next six months..

May you share any photos. So far, everything sounds normal. When you use concealers, promptly keep your recipient area well-maintained on a daily basis. Aloe vera is a soothing remedy.

My opinions are my own. I am one representative of MyWHTC Clinic's European branch.

Sounds fine, some pictures for sure will help. Don't fiddle with grafts for the first 10 days. After that in my opinion it does not matter. gentle wash of the donor and reciepient area helps. It could get itchy as hell when scabs are drying out, just don't scratch, apply something soothing as aloe vera. Hope this helps.

Hello friends...I was travelling extensively while trying hard to hide from the world..:P I am attaching my 35 days post op photos..not sure if this is exact what I should expect but I am little concerned about the density as it looks so less even after getting 3500 grafts.. I have seen people got very good results even with lesser number of grafting..

I got almost 3500 grafts for my frontal area but its not visible at all... I m kind of concern about it.. Please review the pictures and post your opinion..

I still have scabs at many place and whenever I am trying to take them out... it comes with 2-3 hair in it and that is why i am now leaving them as it is and waiting for natural decay...

I am applying Kera XL Growth Serum twice a day and having two kind of pills as prescribed by my doctor.

Hairbless - once a day

Dutamax 0.5 mg - every alternate days

Johnsan baby shampp - every day regular shower with filter water.

Please suggest what could i do to get better results.

Thanks

The grafts are already healed into your head. Jump in the shower, and soak the top of your head for 20 minutes. Lather with shampoo, and rub off the scabs.

it will at least be another 3-4 months before u even see some growth, it takes timefortransplanted hairs to grow, so relax, as E39 said soak ur head in water for few minutes and rub off those scabs.

At 35 days you are probably at your worst look. Most of your grafts have now shed and now you have the pre surgery look - and potential shock loss (temporary) in some areas (for me its all along the donor scar). If you do FUT instead of FUE and you shaved your recipient area, your hairs are also all different lengths so you look even sillier etc. (longer on sides, very short on top)

In a month you will start to see some hairs pop thru (not many) and then 60 days some more will grow and then some better stuff happens 90 days from here. But yeah days 35 to 60 is probably the depths of HT. You cant judge a thing yet.

p.s. like others have said by day 10 you can go soak that head and get all that scabbing off. No need to carry it around. Grafts are usually locked in day 3-4-5. When you say "hair is coming out" yes that is what happens. The hair doesnt matter after first 5+ days, the graft in your head is all that matters...

Jan 2016 - 3800 graft FUT with Dr. Konior

NW 5A to 6.

Docs whose results I am most consistently impressed with: Konior, Cooley (FUT), Hasson (FUT), Diep (FUE) (yeah I like the zig zag).

Wanted to say something about Dr Prashant, I was freaked out when I observed 90% of my transplantation work was performed by technicians and dr Prashant visited only 2-3 times during the entire procedure, that too for giving them instructions. I was told that harvesting 90% and grafting 40% will be done by Dr but that was a trap. Once you sign the paper and dressed up for the procedure, all agreements are gone. Fingers crossed..:(

One and half month post op… I look so bald from the frontal area. I have lost almost all the grafted hair and now waiting for them to come. My biggest concern is that I don’t see tiny dots which I am expecting to see as those were grafted. I see only couple of them and all of them doesn’t look like 3500 grafts at all. I am also noticing that the grafts are not closely grafted and it seems to be very low density at this point of time… I know its too early to say but my head is full of doubt.. is this normal not seeing any density at this point of time?

Give it time, dont even expect anything over next 2 months or so.

Countinghair-

As Harin says, waaaay too early to see anything except the way your scalp looked prior to the transplant. All the hair fibers have been ejected, the follicles are resting, and only a few will begin growing at about month 3 post procedure, then a few more at month 4, etc etc, until roughly only about 50-60% have started to grow at the end of month six. We tell our patients to wait until about 14 months to assess the overall results, as the last group of transplanted follicles that just begin to grow at post op month 12 need a couple of months to gain length and mature. Hope this is helpful.
