The best thing you could do is find a recommended surgeon, have a consultation with him/her in person so they can assess your donor area and hair miniaturisation on the scalp. Then see if your goals you have can be obtained and if not what are the alternatives.

 

There have been some good surgeons in this thread mentioned.

 

As you are in Ireland, you should perhaps have a look at the thread made by the guy who travelled to Belgium and had a consultation with 4 different surgeons then ended up having surgery with one of them. Doctors do have differing opinions as you have probably noticed with the graft estimations you mentioned at the start. His name is Johnny something (I can't remember but a forum member may comment and tell you).

Thank you but an in person consultation is not an option unfortunately. Have you had any side effects on fin? Are they as common as people make out?

FYI, Ive been on fin for 10+ years with no side effects at all. If you want to keep (and even grow back some of) your hair it's worth a shot.

I too am on fin and have no sides, I feel it has held what ive got remaining but ive also noticed a marked improvement in my donor hair thickness, give it a try mate, start off on low doses and gradually build up to see if your body can tolerate it

Wow. That was insightful. So what ur basically saying is I'm pretty much f**ked if I don't go on to fin??

You need to get educated about hair loss. MPB is a game with moving goalposts, you're facing aggressive loss at a young age and you've put yourself at a disadvantage by not taking fin. You can put 4000 grafts now, but when you lose more, then what? There will be visible scaring if you extract that many grafts.

Myself & other members gave you good solid advice here.

 

Take time & have a good read through the forum as it seems like your locked in to see them wow transplants which is more likely the exception to the rule than the rule itself.

 

A above average donor Pt may get 10K grafts that proberly won't cover a NW6 your talking. Pulling 4K & you look like your way below the average even though its hard to gage with them Pics you posted.

 

Do yourself a fav have a good read up & go & see several good HT docs & if you have to jump on a Ryan air to have a one on one with a top Dr/s so be it.

 

Nobody is pushing all selling drugs here but at least try in small dose at the start with Fin may go a long way short & long term & edge your bets to protect what you have left & also your investment if you decide to go the HT route..

 

Again....young age, No Fin, doing HT = RISKY.

A surgeon has just got back to me also saying he won't do anything for me unless I start fin for 6 months. Might give the fin a go so. There's always viagra:)

I really appreciate ur advice it is very insightful. I am thinking of give the fin a chance maybe it will work without a hitch. I suppose parting with 10k to inevititably stay shaving my head would be depressing
