Regular Member refuse2lose Posted August 9, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted August 9, 2014 Hello everyone! First of all, what an amazing resource this site is. I went coming into the thought of a transplant as far from realistic to gaining the confidence to move forward with my procedure. It also did not hurt that the renowned Dr. Cooley was a short 30 min drive from where I live. The entire experience so far has been nothing but professional, and I can tell that he really has a passion for his work. I also want to give a shout-out to his assistant Lollie, who did my consultation and couldn't have been nicer or more informative! I had my consultation about 4 months ago and immediately started finasteride. I just had my procedure yesterday so I will use this thread to document my progress. Regular Member refuse2lose Posted August 9, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 9, 2014 I am a moron I just reread your title. Lol. Keep us posted Haha no worries. I actually paid for 2000 grafts, but once surgery was complete he told me they were able to get 2300 out of my strip! So I guess the number you pay for is the minimum yield. Senior Member Questionmark Posted August 9, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted August 9, 2014 @2youngforthis Lol, why did you ask the question once again 10 minutes after you`d realized that he has the graft count in his title? Or just another forum issue? @refuse2lose Congratulations, the design looks very good, neat work as usual from Dr. Cooley. Thanks for sharing (and for keeping us updated hopefully ) Happy growing! Senior Member 2youngforthis Posted August 9, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted August 9, 2014 @questionmark. Ya dick .. Jk yeah I skipped right over all that. I live in fl and I don't really see much activity from USA dr's near my Florida ass. I look and base my decision to get a ht off results and what you all say. Anyway anytime I see a dr that does damn good work closer to me than Canada it always gets me excited.
Senior Member Questionmark Posted August 9, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted August 9, 2014 I`m a dick, but in this case it was really just to know if the forum`s now bugged allover or what. Regular Member refuse2lose Posted August 11, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 11, 2014 Day 4 update: Today is the day that I can finally stop wearing saran wrap around the house! I must say that every time I look in the mirror it feels like Christmas with a preview of my new hairline. At first I was wondering if we went too conservative with my design, but I think that 2300 in my temples is going to give me a strong age appropriate look with good density. I'm looking forward to day 7 when the grafts become permanent to see how they look with my original hair after a normal shampoo. What do you all think? Regular Member herehair Posted August 11, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted August 11, 2014 Nice look - you had a landon donovan hairline before - actually probably a bit better (I'm far worse off than even your before pic). Anyway, the new hairline looks solid - keep us posted.
Regular Member refuse2lose Posted August 11, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 11, 2014 haha thanks, yeah my hairline was odd. My forelock was pretty strong, but my temples were slick bald. I'm guessing this is why it took so many grafts for a relatively smaller area, because there literally was no hair there. So thankful for Dr. Cooley and his expertise! I wonder why Donovan and other stars don't often opt for transplant, its not nearly has intense of an operation as one might think! Senior Member losingmyhair123 Posted August 11, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2014 looks good man, just out of curiosity, did you opt for the prp treatment?
Regular Member refuse2lose Posted August 11, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 11, 2014 looks good man, just out of curiosity, did you opt for the prp treatment? Thanks! I decided not to do the prp. From the results I saw, it looks like it helps more with diffusion thinning to thicken it. My crown and forelock were of reasonable thickness so I passed and decided to put the money towards more grafts.

Regular Member refuse2lose Posted August 12, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 12, 2014 Any new pics I'm actually about to head out for the first time since my surgery. I let my hair dry and draped it gently over the grafts, I think it hides them pretty darn well. The redness is pretty much gone. I don't go back to work until next monday so i'm pretty confidant I won't have any issues. I'm going to be sad when the grafted hairs fall out
Regular Member refuse2lose Posted August 18, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 18, 2014 Here I am at 10 days. At 7 days I went in to Dr. Cooley's office and they gave my hair a good wash and removed all the crusting and scabs. They said that the grafts are now permanent and I can shampoo normally. Still wearing a hat when I'm out in the sun though. I love the look so far, its so nice not having to constantly worry about my hair. Can't wait to get my stitches out this week!
