Senior Member Injertocapilar.com Posted August 2, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 2, 2014 We thought that this case would had some more discussion. In any case, the patient wanted to eliminate definitely the different colored hair (young patient, humorous allusions to the hair lock etc...). The team approach (but obviously not the only approach you can have) was to extract partially the black follicular units from the area and insert others from his donor area to disguise or hide the existing heterochromia. Senior Member Injertocapilar.com Posted August 4, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 4, 2014 Wikipedia: In anatomy, heterochromia (Greek: heteros 'different' + chroma 'color') is a difference in coloration, usually of the iris but also of hair or skin. Heterochromia is a result of the relative excess or lack of melanin (a pigment). It may be inherited, or caused by genetic mosaicism, chimerism, disease, or injury. Heterochromia of the eye (heterochromia iridis or heterochromia iridum; the common incorrect form "heterochromia iridium" is not correct Latin) is of two kinds. In complete heterochromia, one iris is a different color from the other. In partial heterochromia or sectoral heterochromia, part of one iris is a different color from its remainder. Eye color, specifically the color of the irises, is determined primarily by the concentration and distribution of melanin. The affected eye may be hyperpigmented (hyperchromic) or hypopigmented (hypo chromic). In humans, usually, an excess of melanin indicates hyperplasia of the iris tissues, whereas a lack of melanin indicates hypoplasia. Senior Member Mickey85 Posted August 4, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted August 4, 2014 Very interesting case. Will the black grafts be discarded? Senior Member Mickey85 Posted August 4, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted August 4, 2014 Also was this a two-step process, as in the black grafts were extracted and the patient waited a few weeks/months for the site to heal and then the new grafts were implanted? Or was this all done in one day? The only 2 threads you will ever need: Revamped Advantages/Disadvantages of FUE. Myths dispelled. Educate yourself Everything FUE. Senior Member Injertocapilar.com Posted August 5, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 5, 2014 Very interesting case. Will the black grafts be discarded? I had to ask that. Unfortunately yes. The patient had special aversion to these hairs, he rejected the idea to re inserting them diffusely in the donor area Jose Antonio ICC-Injertocapilar.com-Dr. Lorenzo, Dra Vila. - I work in ICC-Spain human resources, I’m not a sales rep/patient liaison. - For information, valuations and budget: coordinadorpacientes@injertocapilar.com(Spain); Mick@farjo.com (MCR) - New Vimeo Website: https://vimeo.com/user23345553/videos - New Youtube Website:https://www.youtube.com/shubbapahte - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/injerto.capilar - Twitter: https://twitter.com/Injertocapilar Dr. Jose Lorenzo is recommended on the Hair Transplant Network
Senior Member Injertocapilar.com Posted August 5, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 5, 2014 4 months, despite the fact the heterocromy is better concealed, the grown of the native hair is higher than the transplanted grafts. Senior Member Injertocapilar.com Posted August 5, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 5, 2014 8 months: the growth of the transplanted grafts camouflage much better the area, obliterating the remarkable contrast of color that existed previously. Senior Member Injertocapilar.com Posted August 7, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 7, 2014 The most curious data that the team found, was that under the microscope both follicular units, follicles or hairs had been combined, the natives and the recipients, coming out through the same hole, as you can see in these photos.
