Proscar - Pill Splitting into equal measures

Hi. Ive purchased some 5mg (finasteride) proscar from a Dr through a link through this website.

 

Can anyone help me work a way to cut the tablets into equal fifths or even fourths if it's easier. Ive purchased a pill splitter but it does not cut into equal measures.

 

Do you think purchasing a very sensitive scales and crushing the pill into five equal weights could be a solution?

 

Any help would be appreciated, I'm really not comfortable with taking unequal measures on a daily basis.

Is the pill you are taking round? I use a pill cutter, cut it in half, the put the halves with the round side in the cutter's "cradle" and cut that in half. Cutting it into fifths is too much work and not really feasible and I do not think that crushing and using weight will work well either. My advice is to cut into 4ths as best you can and not worry about it. You are going to get a little more than 1mg if you are fairly close and I don't think with the length of time it keeps your DHT low that is going to matter than you are .2mg low one day and .2 high the other. Consult your Dr. and see what he says, but I personally think that you are over thinking it.

 

Keep a sharp pill cutter, they are cheap and I would replace it ever few months or so. I usually sit down and cut a few weeks worth at a time so I am not inconvenienced so often to cut them.

I would cut into 1/4ths and not worry about getting a little more than the 1.25mg one day, a little less than the 1.25 mg another day... I think Rassman had done a study years ago saying that the difference is negligible and it averages out in your bloodstream anyway..

Thanks for the responses all. The pills are an unusual shape and ive attached a pic. Ive cut a few into 1/4 and although there not exact there not to bad. I guess my best option is to try for a while and see.

 

Will keep you posted if any changes from 1mg finpecia tablets.

why is everyone still doing the cutting thing? generic propecia is available online.

I worry about purchasing on-line as you can't be certain of the authenticity. In addition the cost of splitting proscar is considerably less than individual 1mg pills...

You can get Fin 5mg at a cost of $9 for 20 pills at Walmart...cutting it in 1/4 means you're paying $2.25/month...can't get cheaper than that. Don't frustrate yourself trying to cut the pill in 1/5....it's cheap enough already.
