Regular Member joeshmo209 Posted May 21, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted May 21, 2014 I have pretty think, coarse hair. Not the density, but the actual diameter of the hairs. Would this mean that I could get more coverage with a smaller number of graphs?
Senior Member Spanker Posted May 21, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted May 21, 2014 Yes, because you have more hair weight, or volume. Thickness of the hair shaft is a good thing when it comes to coverage. Senior Member Paulygon Posted May 22, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted May 22, 2014 Absolutely.. Hair thickness (along, with factors such as waviness, color) are used by a physician to determine how to economically graft the hairs to cover the thinning/bald region. Check out my blog about that: Hair Restoration Social Network - Hair Loss Patient Blogs Paulygon is a former patient of Dr. Parsa Mohebi My regimen includes: HT #1 2710 grafts at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration in Los Angeles in 2012 Rogaine foam 2x daily, since 2012 (stopped ~10/2015) Finasteride 1.25mg daily, since 2012 (stopped ~12/2015) HT #2 3238 grafts at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration in Los Angeles in Jun. 2016 Started Rogaine and Propecia in July. 2016 after being off of them for about a year. Senior Member gillenator Posted May 22, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted May 22, 2014 It's something called hair shaft diameter (caliber) and IMHO the single most critical factor to be considered when determining graft counts and attaining the illusion of coverage...
