Irregular Heart Rate

Have been getting palpitations as of late. It seems that it is only one or two beats out of place. Had a doc check my EKG and listen for murmurs...all good. I can't remember how long I've had them but it does seem to be about as long as I've taken Minoxidil. I use 5% twice daily in generous quantities.

 

Anyone else had similar symptoms?

Happened to me a couple of times (only). Usually, after my scalp is wet and the minoxidil can easily diffuse into the tissue, I noticed it. A bit of faintness on standing too.

 

Don't worry about it, unless it's a regular thing for you.

I should have quantified this more, the heart exam was done before I started Minoxidil.

 

Been researching minoxidil's effects on the heart, animal and human studies have shown that it can lead to left-ventricular hypertrophy.

 

Anyone have any direct experience with this?

I used Rogaine when it first came out & you still had to have a prescription for it. It gave me palpitations too. I just never used it again.

When I first started using minoxidil I felt the palpitations on a regular basis. I let it continue way too long. I just did not connect the two. Turns out I was using way too much.

 

If you've been checked out by a doctor ... simply lower your dose to the recommended amount. If you still get palpitations then you might consider stopping.

I have had an irregular heart beat since I was born, and I took minox for a while and nothing bad to me. Just for clarification. Did not take it more than a year thoe since it did not deal well with my scalp.

I've been on it for about 11 months now, with great results, so I don't really want to stop, I've been off it a week now, and I think it may be slightly better, but I'm not sure how long I should be off it for. I will consult my prescribing specialist again.
