  1. You’re avoiding the possibility of accelerated loss due to the HT
  2. I had bad side affects to both Minoxidil & Propecia
  3. My hair loss in the crown & back of my head really accelerated after my two HT. I mean it was aggressive. I wonder if this was due to the disruption of blood loss to the scalp after severing blood vessels in the scalp. I have no way of knowing if the acceleration of hair loss was natural or from affects of the surgeries. Did this happen to anyone else after HT surgery?
  4. Where are your before & after pics Bobman?
  5. Well here is my story. I started losing my hair in my late 20's. It really accelerated in my 30's to a NW 4-5. My hairline was gone by the time I was 40 but my crown only had a silver dollar size hole. I had my first transplant at 50 years old in 2007. Nearly 3,000 grafts to the front/hairline. It was still too thin for sunlight exposure. So I went for my second HT in 2011. Most of the nearly 2,000 grafts went to the crown that had now opened up to about 3" in circumference. It didn't do a whole lot for my crown but it was nice to have something growing there. But after that my crown loss rapidly crept to the sides & back. I think the trauma from transplants exasperated my hair loss in back. As for drugs I wasn't a good candidate considering my age & degree of hair loss. Although I tried Propecia briefly & experienced bad side effects so I gave it back to the Dr. Now my hair loss is out of control as I watch it desert my head in back at a rapid pace. I have lost all hope at this point of being able to stop it. I live under hats most of the time. It wasn't until I started loosing the back that I became despondent over my hair loss. The front I could handle but the back is embarrassing & demoralizing. At this point Ill wear a hat & if I have a show (Musician) Ill wear a wig. I wouldn't be comfortable wearing a wig in everyday life. My Dr. did a fine job but as I have learned there is no way a Dr. can give you back your hair if you are a NW5+. It is a losing proposition. Im not the type that gets depressed & I will soldier on. I just think that I'm lucky to have all of my limbs etc because there are certainly a lot worse things in life than losing one's hair although it does suck. No happy ending, just end of story.

    Good luck on your journey.

  6. Joey IMHO Good yield, Distribution of the grafts should have been concentrated on the frontal 1/3 with a second procedure to finish the top/crown. So now you just go from where you are now with diffused thinning. Good luck Joey.
  7. Kumar, Congrats on your HT with Dr. Alexander! I want to assure you that the swelling & mild pain you are experiencing is quite normal for 2 weeks & even a month post op. It will begin to subside before you know it. Dr, Alexander is an excellent surgeon, so you have no need to worry. The one thing that you can do to speed healing & avoind complications is to keep the donor area very claen. Don't be afraid to gently use your fingers with shampoo along the suture line to scrub it clean. I did mine twice daily. So hang in there, be patient, keep it clean, avoid heavy lifting & you will be on your way! Good luck & keep us posted. Atomic
  8. Futureguy, If you are a candidate for a HT my personal recommendation is Dr. Scott Alexander in Phoenix. He produces the most natural appearing Hairlines with minimal scar time after time. Good luck! Atomic
  9. David, Nice style, Looking good! I am also a happy patient of Dr. Alexander.
  10. Sorry to hear that about your little girl Dr Lindsay. I am praying for her complete recovery. Best of wishes to your family. Tom (Atomic)
  11. georhenr, Dr. Aleander was my choice & I would certainly choose him again. He is a brilliant surgeon. Good luck!
  12. Congrats Imported! Thats alot of hair that got imported from the back of your head! Nice work, great result. Atomic
  13. Personally, I would go with Dr. Feller. He knows what will work best for you. Listen to him. He won't steer you wrong.
  14. Go ahead & get it cut. Just make sure the sylist is aware of your HT & ask them to be gentle around the grafts & scar.
  15. I don't think future hairloss is completely predictable. My own for instance has become a suprise. I continue to loose hair at 53 & there is no way anyone could have predicted this when I was 30! I predict a lot of young guys will be in for a suprise one day.
  16. Again great results but it would be nice if we could see the immediate post op pics so we can see how the hair was distributed.
  17. Stellar results, even the crown looks much better! Do u have any immediate post op pics?
  18. David, First of all welcome to the forum. Second...don't panic! Although shockloss is common, I'm not sure I have heard of a case where shock loss set in just a few days after surgery. However, generally speaking, If the hair that was shocked was already in the miniaturizing stages, it may not reurn. If the shocked hair was not miniaturizing it will likely grow back. Also, HT can make your existing hair look pretty bad for while. So maybe you really haven't lost any, it just appears that way. As for why you didn't recieve more grafts, this is something that should have been discussed with your surgeon prior to the HT. It could be that he determined that 2k grafts were all that you needed. Hang in there, I seriously doubt you lost much hair just a few dfays after surgery. Keep us posted, Atomic
  19. Samonly, May the stars line up perfectly for your procedure. All the best! Atomic
  20. Mrsundeep, I agree with Alvarez & Dutch about the meds. You currently have miniaturizing outside the area that is going to be transplanted. You can predict that you will eventually loose more hair in the crown. At only 28 you will be chasing your hairloss with future transplants. You should give the meds a try, since finesteride & minnoxidil work specifically in the crown you should respond well. As for sides...we are alldifferent & respond different. There are guys on the meds regimen for 10+ years with no problems. Then there are guys who can't get an erection after just looking at the pill bottle! Another option woul be to go to good mega session surgeon who will transplant the entire crown including between the existing hair in the areas that are miniaturizing. You would probably need 4,000 plus grafts for that procedure. As you see there are other options, do some more research before you have any surgery. Good luck & keep us posted! This is only my opinion. I am not a medical Dr. & I do not represent any Dr.
  21. You are going against everyone's advice!! LOL! Good luck to ya!
  22. Darsha, I wouldn't worry about the alcohol dislodging or hurting the grafts in any way, unless you get to drunk & fall on yoiur head! You shoould be fine. Happy growing! Atomic
