saira
I do not agree with th eidea that while choosing a doctor you should be looking at the number of degrees and the names of doctors degrees as i think hair transplant is a totally different field and such degrees has nothing to do with hair transplant it has its own course books and study and i have seen much superior results of doctors who are not frcs but giving much natural results than the branded doctors. Senior Member HairDew Posted March 18, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2009 Simply put NO. We've seen some doctors who don't even have MD but that doesn't stop them from producing first rate results.
Senior Member kaounis Posted March 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 19, 2009 Maybe the number of degrees is not important, but it is surgery, and there could be complications, I think you should at least make sure you are dealing with a "Dr." and not only an artist..... Just a thought from the peanut gallery...
Senior Member Dr. Mohammad Humayun Mohma Posted March 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 19, 2009 Dear Saira I totally agree that digree like FRCS or American Board are not important to produce good results but what are they imporatnt for is that the surgeon is trained or experienced enough to handle the problems. I am sure the doctors with or without degree will give you good and natural results but every now and then when a problem occurs, it will only be The degree and required training that will come to rescue. So in nut shell you can go to anyone who has natural results but if you have one with a degree and also natural results then he should be preferred on others. After all Degree is Important. --- I am a medical advisor to Lexington International and Hairmax. What ever I say is my personal opinion. Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted March 19, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted March 19, 2009 No, Hairdew is right. The man that taught me in my fellowship to do facelifts, noses, eyelids and cleft lip reconstruction never even took his boards back in the early '70s. Although Dr. Davis died a few years ago, he had "the knack" and got great results in tough situations. I recall one case where we (he with me assisting) reconstructed a Judge's eye socket after trauma. It took about an hour and he made it look easy. When I asked him how many he'd done, he said that he had never done one but "read up on it" the night before. While that is a bit cavalier for my skill set, he had a natural talent and ability to do great surgery that all of the degrees and board certifications in the world can't replicate. I am not suggesting that all of those initials are worthless, as I have FACS behind my name too. I am just saying that extra training and certification are just PART of the overall equation of picking a doctor. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member AMR1 Posted March 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 19, 2009 I agree with u there, I would not want someone with no medical background touching my head and operating, but that is my personal choice, I would want someone skilled in the medical field and in HT field to do my operation. 1600 grafts FUT Mr May (UK) Sept 1996 https://www.wimpoleclinic.com'>https://www.wimpoleclinic.com 1600 grafts FUT Mr May (UK) February 1998 https://www.wimpoleclinic.com 2475 grafts FUT Dr Mohammed Humayun Mohmand (Pakistan) 27th January 2009 http://www.hti.com.pk 3550 Total Grafts (3000 rear donor area & 400 from beard and 150 breast area) FUE & PRP Treatment with Dr Emrah Cinik (ISHRS), Istanbul, Turkey. 10th October 2017 http://www.emrahcinik.com/ My Blog & Hair loss website story: https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1123
Senior Member AMR1 Posted March 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 19, 2009 Saira why do you state this? would u undergo surgery with a cosmetic artist rather then a surgeon?
