First Stages Post-Op - Dr. Gabel 1,554 FUT

[Continued from THIS THREAD]

Four days post-op as of this posting, and I'm done with all my antibiotics, most pain meds, etc. Only taking Ibuprofen now.

Encouragingly, I seem to be ahead of the healing curve by 2 or 3 days right now, as essentially all of my scabbing and crusting has come away with little effort after getting out of the shower (usually doesn't happen until day 7 to 10); I carefully examined each little scab and bit of skin that came off as I delicately rubbed in gentle circles with my fingertips, and made sure I wasn't dislodging any grafts. No grafts - or even newly-released shock-loss hairs - came off with the skin. Really awesome.

Now I'm just dabbing mineral oil on the recipient area. Also applying Polysporin on the incision, which I imagine will continue to look about the same until the sutures come out in 4 or 5 more days, and take awhile to heal - which is just dandy since it's really easy to conceal this time around, due to longer hair in the back.

Here are my day 4 shots; no too much redness, and nearly no scabbing left, as well as all transplanted hairs still holding firm in their new homes - no shock loss - at least not yet...

Well, that's it for now. Everything seems awesome to the four-day mark. If anything changes I'll keep the thread updated for anyone who's curious.

OK just as a quick update and to be specific, here is my final graft count:

1's - 394 - (384 hairs)

2's - 906 - (1,818 hairs)

3's - 247 - (741 hairs)

4's - 5 - - - (20 hairs)

Total: 1552 grafts

Total transplanted hairs: 2,973 individual hairs, all placed along the frontal hairline and forelock. I don't think my hair looked bad before, per se - just alittle anemic/thin in the front... But now it will look epic if all goes well... Can't wait!

And I'm not starting a new thread yet because I'm in the waiting phase where absolutely nothing is happening. All the new hairs have fallen out, and I'm waiting for my native hairs that were shaved in the front to get long enough that I can stop wearing this douchey hairdo to cover them up... I'll make an update thread in a couple months when something interesting happens, until then I will just lurk around the forums and wait :)

Woo! Another milestone... Enough of my native hair grew out to allow me to style my hair in the front, so I ditched the douchey combed-forward hair style. It's not perfect, but it's way better than the Dumb And Dumber 'do I was sporting earlier-on in order to hide the transplanted area (which is no longer red/pink anymore, either). I feel so much more like myself now!

And I shamelessly photo-chopped one of my post-op pics to reflect what I can only hope the final result looks like... Maybe not quite as voluptuously thick, but hey, I can hope :)

Now for the waiting period... Another T-minus 2-3 months until liftoff...

@Mickey - yes, he is quite the artist in those respects. He tends to be conservative in terms of coverage, but in doing so gains the advantage of very good density.

@Rothki - Yes it's a very hopeful Photoshop; I guess my first year and a half in college for graphic design wasn't a complete waste after all :)

Here is the video of your first postoperative day. There are some nice close up shots of the hairline which I think you'll enjoy. Looking forward to watching how everything progresses.

Wow I was still really weird and groggy on that Valium in this video... I remember my eyes still felt kind of weird and dry, but didn't realize I mumbled so much. I'd just woken up half an hour earlier too, though. I'm in the midst of the post-op blues right now, all healed but waiting in limbo for the new hairs to start sprouting noticeably. Can't wait!
