No expert here, but it has always been my assumption that it is the grafts falling out, not the hairs, that is the issue. If you've knocked your head and there was a lot of blood, you may have knocked out a graft. Too bad, but not devastating. Otherwise, i wouldn't worry about hairs falling out. They are shocked and just either work their way out naturally or friction will rub them out

The graft is the entire follicle (or natural clusters of 2 or 3 follicles). So, the hair growing from the follicle will fall out following a hair transplant (usually in a couple weeks), but the follicle is still there. After 2-4 months, new hairs start growing. So, if the entire graft came out you would in all likelihood have bleeding.
