The Journey starts here and very excited to meet Dr Feller!

Hi, I have just joined the forum finally and wanted to share my information here as so many have done previously. This forum has really helped me out. I have been lurking for over a year reading all the experiences with various clinics and doctors and it is exciting to finally be writing my own account as this is the start of my own journey now. I am due to meet with Dr Feller in London next week and i have been excited to meet him since he announced he was coming to London a few months ago. I have already scheduled my surgery with him in August and cant wait to discuss with him my options and the possible plan for re-turfing my head. I have read so many stories and blogs about Dr Feller patients especially UK patients who have been kind enough to share their experiences and i could not be more assured moving forward that he is certainly the doctor for me and i must thank the forum for providing such extensive archives to see so many past patients and pictures.

I consulted with a couple of clinics here in the UK but like most guys from the UK was not impressed at all and saw straight through the sales pitches, mediocre results and ridiculous tactics. I also consulted online with several reputable clinics and found them to all be very similar in quoting the number of grafts that i require, which is 2500 grafts, so this is very reassuring too. I met a couple of doctors in person in Belgium too as a friend had work done with one and the results were ok, not brilliant, but ok and they were pleasant enough but i just didn't feel 100% confident and assured by either of them and one clinic in particular was very poor at responding to emails which wasn't professional at all, that was the one my friend went to incidentally. My friend is coming to New York with me in August and is also having a second surgery done this time with Dr Feller to improve on his previous attempt. A holiday is on the cards too!

Spex has been very helpful throughout i might add as many who have dealt with him previously will know, he responds very quickly and professionally to all questions, however ridiculous. He kindly sent me his ebook for free too which i must say was incredibly helpful and insightful and a must for anyone considering hair transplants. I have been on finasteride for over 2 years now and although paid through the nose originally for the first year from Boots it has really helped my crown area and overall quality of my hair. I also take Nourikin Men tablets which i have found to be very helpful again with the quality of my hair. I am really excited and will share my pictures and also the feedback i get from Dr Feller at my consultation in London next week. I also look forward to documenting my procedure here as its definitely the best forum on the internet.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to the forum AustinUk. This is one if not the best forum in my opinion around and it is fortunate it does exist as it is an exceptional source of information for hairloss and hair restoration. Nice to hear you have an appointment booked with Dr Feller and August will soon come round for your surgery,so make sure you are ready for the long journey ahead.

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome. I feel a weight lifted just knowing there is such support out there from other patients who have trodden this road before me. I look forward to sharing my experiences too and paying it forward to help others.

I really like this forum i have to say.

Hey Spreadlocks thanks for yer post, my friend and i intend to stay a week in NYC and make the most of the trip prior to our surgeries which are on consecutive days. My friend previously had FUE and Dr Feller intends to do 1000 FUE on him the day after my 2000-2500 strip surgery.

We know we can't drink alcohol before our surgeries, so this is a shame but a small price to pay so we intend to just sightsee the city and generally kick back for the week. We are staying in the city initially and then the day before the surgery moving over to Great Neck.

Not chosen any hotels yet. Where did you stay ?

I stayed at the Ramada Bayside. By US standards it's probably not great but my room was fine by UK standards and it was SUPER CHEAP. I payed like ?40 a night or something. One good thing was that there was a fridge and Microwave in the room so I could buy plenty of food before the HT and not have to leave the room after. If you stay there I had some cool food at a local italian joint called Tratoria 35. Trattoria 35 - Bayside - Bayside, NY

They had New York italians all saying "Forget About It" to each other. Felt like the Sopranos : )

I met Dr Feller yesterday and it was incredibly informative. I saw him late after work and despite already doing 20 consultations he had a great deal of patience with me and helped answer all my questions. I met Spex too who's hair is just amazing and he allowed me to thoroughly inspect his hairline and donor area under bright light. He was also very patient with me and i could see he was in demand to speak to, yet took the time to answer several questions i had.

I certainly am very much looking forward even more so for August now when i get my surgery with Dr Feller and he estimates around 2500 grafts by strip as originally recommended off the original pictures i sent over to him.

I was a nervous wreck the night before my ht, but as im sure everyone on this thread can attest, dr feller will put you at ease the moment you walk thru the door. you will find as spex said, you're in the best of hands, so just chill:cool:

Good luck!

I was in exactly the same position as you this time last month, leaving the UK on Thursday. It all goes so much easier than you can imagine, you'll be fine I'm sure.

If you're staying in The Andrew then you're in for a treat. When I got to my room I felt like Kevin McCallister in Home Alone when he gets the hotel on his Dads' credit card. It was huge, I felt like a king :D

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

Wrote a book for newbies called Beating Hair Loss, available on Amazon
