I had hair transplant approximately 18 months earlier.

The hair in the recipient area is good but the problem is half the hair in the recipient area(the tansplanted hair) is still curly and frizzy.

Is this the permanent nature of the transplanted hair or will they become normal?

It most likely will soften over the next few months and return to a more normal state. It depends however if you had a quality doctor because sometimes this can be a permanent issue due to damaging the grafts during preparation and/or insertion. If you had a quality doctor though it should be temporary.

18 months is a long time for hairs not to have softened and become more similar to your native hair in that area.

Perhaps your donor hair is particularly frizzy and you may always notice a difference between your transplanted and native hairs.

Well for me, I did it with Dr. Rahal and Im almost 9 months post Op, still some of my transplanted hair is curly. For example when I comb my hair forward, some of the transplanted hair will jump out to a different direction even they are same length. I guess its because transplanted hair lacks sebaceous gland that's why it tends to be dry. However I was told it will be fine soon. 18 months is quite long in my point of view and frizzy hair is not natural, I was told its a sign of bad transplanted and poor handling of the graft before transplanting it. I hope any recommended doctor corrects my information.

Did you have any issues with regrowth or total yield from your procedure? Or is it just the kinky curl that you notice?
