Hi Guys

Well im back in the uk now after my fue procedure with dr bisanga in brussels.

The whole process was pretty much a breeze, and looking back im not sure Why i was so nervous and anxious about the op.

The only thing that wasnt nice was the numbing jabs, i had underestimated just how many injections were needed to numb the area but the jabs to the recipient area were the worst ...ouch:eek:

Im taking every possible step to ensure this ht has a great chance of yeilding a good result.

I travelled from the uk via the euro le shuttle and then drove through france into Belgium, mainly because i didnt want to wear a hat or even the bandana the clinic supplied post op, and because there was no airport lounges or planes to worry about it was ok ,i stayed in my car from belgium all the to my front door.

At the clinic i was impressed with the place as a whole i was welcomed on arrival and given a pre op document to fill in.

dr Bisanga then greeted me and led me to his office for my consultation i was

Originally planned for 1500 grafts but when the doctor saw me in the flesh he

changed his estimate to 1200-1300 as my forelock is still strong.

before long i was in the chair recieving the injections then in came the doc and started making the punches there was no pain at all. after around 950 punches we stoped for lunch with the grafts still in my head i had a 30 minute lunch and was given a choice of what i wanted to eat.

Back in the chair the nurse numbed the recipient area and the doc started making the slits again the only pain was the numbing injections.

once the initial grafts had been extracted and implanted they turned me on my side and began punching out the remaining grafts, these were then implanted .

my head was then cleaned and dressed and after a chat with the doc and phil i was escorted to my hotel by phil and instructed to apply my saline solution every 2 hours and return the next day for a clean up and for my hair to shaved.

At night ive ben tying my hands to my legs with bath robe belts and sleeping sitting up ,ill continue this until one week post op.

ive had a fair bit of swelling but its going down now at day 5.

the most worrying thing was washing the grafts as per the post op instruction

sheet as i was so nervous about these grafts to the point where i was scared to fart:)

im taking a month off work to fully heal, and was considering msm tablets

As youll se from the pics i havent gone too agressive with the hairline as i want to be sure that this op works out and if the density isnt great i didnt want a bigger area to rework also the doc advised me that it was best to be a little conservative which i think shows he is a good ethical doctor as i was willing to pay for more grafts.im sure there are doctors that would have taken the extra money.

let me know your thoughts

hi

i used the euro shuttle, and i got shaved in the clinic before i left, i did get some funny looks though when i stopped at the services for lunch.

Your HT looks awesome! Have you had any outrageous swelling yet? I can't imagine going into ANY public venue when that nastiness is going on:eek:

UPDATE....................

hi guys

im 5 weeks post op on monday and im think im at the lowest possible point right now.

it all started off great i actually went out at 3 weeks post op and no one could believe that id had a ht it was undetectable, every thing was going great until week when not only did i start shedding my grafts (i was hoping to avoid this, but deep down knew it was coming) but i had developed some nasty donor shock loss, it was a little thinner in the area above my right ear but within 3 days a large bald spot had developed.I knew this happened from time to time but you never expect it to happen to you.

the clinic have been great with stephen giving me awnsers to any questions i have and also reassuring me that this shockloss will return to normal eventually.

the hardest part is the shedding and having to face the public looking balder than ever people seem really shocked when they see me in comparison to my preop hair stlye as i used to hide it really well and a lot of friends and family never realised i had even receeded.

Im just looking forward to getting the next three months over with so i can regain some quality of life back i never thought for a second i would be so deeply affected by the recovery process it really has been a tough few weeks

Similar to me aj29, most people didn't realise I was receding as I would style my hair appropiately to cover it and I have good hair characteristics that helped.

It is only 5 weeks and it is still very early with nothing happening until 3-4 months.

Just remain positive, it should come back and sometimes it does get worse before it improves, mine did.

Thanks Chris

I know theres no benefit in stressing ,im ok one minute then i catch a glance of it and it really knocks your confidence, ive attached a pic of my hair 4 weeks pre op to show how well disguised it was ,the op at the minute has put 10 years on me ,im just preying i get a good result so its all been worth it

the actual shock loss isnt that big a deal as i can conceal it with my wifes brown eye shadow.

Aj, I had some thinning at 3 weeks also on my left side, but not quite to bare skin. I was thinking that its from the epinephrin injections. Anyway, you are definitely at the low point right now which means things will get better soon.

The hairline design looks good and Bisanga is one of the top surgeons in Europe especially for FUE.I might consider him myself if I decide to do a FUE+Strip Combo.

you had minimal loss and I think you will get great result.

so did you travel back to England the next day after surgery? it's great that you choosed train instead of plane, even thinking about going through airport security, etc with a head like that makes me anxious.

for me travelling after HT is definitelly the worst part.

I've heard hotel accomodations can be very expensive in Belgium if you choose to stay for a week?

how long it takes from Belgium to England via train?

Thanks levarais

Yeah that's what's keeping me going at the moment ,knowing that it can only improve from here onwards.a mate is 6weeks ahead of me from his rahal fue and I get really jeleous that his hair is over an inch long and he's able to cover the op.o well I'll get there in the end and I'm sure I choose the right doc.I've got faith in Bisanga and his manual tool

Hi alix

My op was on a Monday so I travelled from the uk on the Sunday and stayed till Wednesday morning 3 nights in total and it cost me 200euro for me and my wife we stayed in the Catalonia which was 2mins away from the clinic.it took 3 hours from my house to folkstone then 30 mins on the tunnel with a 2 hour drive from Calais to Belgium. Total cost with shuttle petrol and hotel was less than ?500 and I never had to get out of the car ,I wouldn't have enjoyed a flight looking the way I did

ah so you travelled by your own car, thats the best way.and 200 Euroes for 3 nights is a good price.I've heard of prices like 100-120 Euroes a night.did you consider other Belgium clinics (Feriduni) as well?

No I didn't ,I had a consult on England with farjo and realised they weren't for me so after deciding I wanted fue all my research led me to Bisanga I was adamant that I only wanted manual fue as I'd seen some terrible results using auto tools and the worst of all is neograft , I wouldn't let them use that on me for free
