FHT with Dr Radha

Hi everyone,

First i want to thank you all for your posts that has been very helpul.

Well, i'm 28 years old and i've started to loose my hairs 4 years ago (or more...??). I'm on minoxidil 5% for about 2 years and it is not working very well so far and i've started finasteride a week ago. And I'm French (so sorry for my mistakes !).

I'm planning to have a FHT in india with Dr Radha.

I know i will be bald because everybody (mother or father side) in my family is...ans that's THE problem !

I wanted to do a FUE because of the scar that i will have for the rest of my life. After a few discussions with Dr Radha, i 've decided to plan a FHT.

For her, i'm Norwood 5 (for the moment) and she said that i would need about 6000 grafts to cover all the area. i've attached a few pics so maybe you can tell me what you think...

Obviously if i want to go to india, it's because of the price. But i don't want to loose my money or have a bad surgery ... i would prefer loosing all my hairs than regretting it.

So the best choice appeared to be Dr Radha. Some of you have confirmed on this forum that she is good and here costs are very very reasonnable....

So i'm planning to have a FHT in April. I think i will go for 4000 grafts to start if my donor area permits it (i hope so :P ).

I will definetly tell you more about it and keep you informed step by step.

But first i have a few questions for you guys. So thank you in advance for your help !

1) I want to quite finasteride ASAP because of the side effects. I don't know what to think about this med (so many different opinions) . Is it really dangerous ? Can it help for the surgery ?

2) Do you think Dr Radha is a good choice ?

3) What about my decision for a transplant of 4000 grafts ? Do you think it will be enough to have my hairs back ?

4) Are Scalp exercises useful ?

5) Is the scar visible ? Can you feel it ?

I uploaded a few pics here => Hair Restoration Social Network - Hair Loss and Transplant Photos

Thank you

I would stick with the propecia.

But honestly- FUE is not for you. You have extensive loss. FUT is your best option. 6k grafts may not be enough but will improve your look significantly. I'm a Norwood 5A and still require another operation at the very least after having 4700 grafts. But yes 4k will work for you nicely but it's a lot of money & the success of FUE is much lower than FUT.

You know the scar you speak of? It's not how you imagine it to be! It's hardly noticeable after a few months. I'm only 5 months out & you can't see mine even though I don't have thick hair.

Just my opinion.

Furthermore, from your pics, you look like a Norwood 6 and not 5. That's a lot of scalp area to cover with FUT let alone FUE as not everyone is a candidate for that.

You can't feel the scar. Don't worry about that. Mine is like a thick pencil line so far & will only thin out in time.

Scalp exercises can help, maybe by about 1mm

UPDATED *

Thanks for your answer Dutch !

Yes i understand FUE is not for me. I was thinking that before...

I'm not sure i'm Norwood 6 (not yet ?). I will upload different pics tomorrow so that you can have a better look...

I know that it's a lot of money, that's why i want to do it in india. Apparently, Dr Radha has shown good results so far. Maybe someone can confirm it ?

I've decided 4000 grafts but i'm not sure what i really need. It's pretty difficult because my hair loss has not finished yet.

As i cannot see the doc, i don't know exactly what i need.

Are you currently experiencing any adverse side effects? If not, I would highly recommend continuing the minoxidil usage.

2) Do you think Dr Radha is a good choice ?

I'm not too familiar with this surgeon's work. Are you intent on staying in India? If so, you may want to investigate Dr. Madhu. If you wouldn't mind traveling (which most hair transplant patients recommend), I would definitely take a look at the rest of our recommended hair transplant surgeons. Some specialize in FUT "mega sessions," and frequently utilize a large number of grafts on high Norwood patients. Let me know if you'd like more help researching.

What about my decision for a transplant of 4000 grafts ? Do you think it will be enough to have my hairs back ?

4,000 grafts would not likely restore your natural hair density (the density before you lost any hair). However, restoring 100% density is never truly the goal of hair transplantation. Having said that, 4,000 grafts (especially if they were strategically placed) would likely make a significant impact and create an aesthetically pleasing result. However, a second procedure may be necessary down the road. It all really depends on your transplant plan and personal physiology.

4) Are Scalp exercises useful ?

Pre-operative scalp exercises can definitely be useful.

5) Is the scar visible ? Can you feel it ?

While refined hair transplant scars usually blend quite well, they will always be "visible" if your hair is short enough. Whether or not you can actually palpate the scar will, again, depend on your physiology and how your body scars (though hopefully this will be minimal).

I hope this helps!

Thanks for your answer.

I have no side effects using minoxidil ( i've been using it for the last 3 years). But my concern was about finasteride and its erectil dysfunction, fertility ... No side effect till then but i've been taking it for only a week.

I did my homework and i know Dr Madhu and a lot of Doc of the coalition. Dr Radha is a lot cheaper and has worked with Dr Path for 18 months. She looks serious but obviously more feedbacks are more than welcome !!!

I will go to india especially for the surgery (and a few days of vacations...)

I know it can sound stupid but i just want my hairs back. But i also know that 's impossible. So i want to restore as many hairs as possible . I don't want to look bald again.

But i 'm aware that i will loose more hairs in the future so i know i will need a second hair tranplant.

My plan is to have a mega session of FHT si I can forget for a few years this problem . And then we'll see...

I suppose 4000 grafts would be a great number but i'm not sure ...
