Are you using any preventative medication? I would first suggest using those for one year and then consider transplants as you still have a good amount of native hair that is miniaturizing that can regrow healthier and fuller and could mean you wouldn't need any many grafts. In general I believe it's extremely beneficial especially for patients with your pattern to use the medications first before any treatment.

I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own.

You will require a lot of grafts to get good coverage probably more than one procedure to achieve it, but again medication is extremely important to your long term goals. You still have quite a bit of hair in the middle and crown of your head which you will eventually lose and you'll need even more grafts to cover that, and you may run out of donor, so definitely consult with a doctor about it. I think it would be a mistake to not use it.

Just curious....will he really eventually lose that hair if he

is dedicated to a daily regimen of propecia and minoxidil?

but it doesn't stop the clock.

Hi Kardo75,

I'm currently in Chennai, India at the moment and I'm travelling to Vishakaptnam for a HT with Doctor Radha Rani. She isn't a recommended surgeon on this website at the moment but is in the process of applying. Doctor Madhu is recommended by the forum and is in Hyderabad. I'm sure there are other surgeons who would perform a good job but they are unknown to me.

I live in Australia also and I'm from Perth and if you want to track my progress or telephone me just send me a pm.

Regards

Rod

What I said was that he will most likely eventually lose all of his native hair on top without using the medication, not while using the medication. There is always still a possibility that he will continue to lose that native hair with the medication but it's unlikely and he could very well see an improvement with using the medications.

i have similar hair loss to you and was told id need 7000 grafts over 2 procedures, 4000 to cover the hairline, frontal third and temples and 3000 for the midscalp and crown. Im thinking i'll need even more than that though to get the result that i want. Really depends on donor availability but id say you will need a minimum of 7000-8000 and 2 procedures to get decent coverage along with using the big three of propecia, rogaine and nizoral shampoo.

I highly recommend my doctor Y.V.Rao in Hyderabad. However I am only 3.5 months into my HT. After few more months the true story is going to comeout. Regarding scar, I dont have any bumps, lumps or numbness now. He charges 30-40% less than Dr.Madhu I guess.

kardo: 1 graft from a bad doctor is not the same as a graft from a good doctor. Please be careful not to base your decision purely on cost alone.

As a general rule of thumb, a NW 6 would require approximately 7000 grafts. Hair density, colour and level of NW6 also have an impact.

You should not aim to have it all done in one session. Aim for the front 2/3rds initially and then tackle the crown at a later date.

htrocks: thanks for sharing your site. I am at 7 weeks now and quite depressed (even though I know things will improve a lot!). Seeing your results has made me feel much more positive.

Hi Kardo75,

I do not understand what you are saying because an FUE procedure is surgery but less invasive than FUT. FUE does also have lower rates of GRAFT survival than FUT and is only used for smaller sessions.

I have never heard of any of the doctors that you have mentioned. Please do your homework.

hi kardo,

i think the prices u have mentioned is too high. rs 50 per graft would be ideal . dr madhu and dr ****** have the same rates. some have even lower.

htrocks ;

in your case i see from the pics on your website that you have a gud quality and quantity of donor hair sd its likely that you may have gud results. However , in my case i have stage VI / VII baldness and as per the HT specialists i have limited donor hair due to which the result may not be satisfactory.I understand that i need an extracalibre HT specialist who can put in some extra efforts to restore a reasonable hairline.Wonder if Y V Rao would be the right recommendation for my case ?

In my case Dr Madhu had innitially seen my digital snaps and recommened 3000 grafts for HT but when i met him in person he honestly said that the results would not be satisfactory due to lesser donor hair , wider bald area and to my surprise he very honestly though refund the deposit money for hair transplant.Dr Ashok offered to get it done with the remark that Dr Madhu was a man of limited capability. Now i see from forums that there are some negative feedbacks about Dr Ashok.Wonder what Dr Rao would response to my case.

Look forward to advice from senior members.Do i need to go for non surgical means ? Any advise on that front too though i still believe strongly that i can be restored a reasoble hairline by hair transplant esp as my expectations are realistic and moderate.
