2+ Years Post Op: Transplanted hair black on blonde hair

Recommended Posts

So I had a transplant 2 1/2 years ago: FUT 1750ish. I am not devestated by the results, but am relatively unhappy with several aspects:

1) Density. Well, as you can see from the pictures, the coverage isn't optimal but I understand the limitations of this procedure and I am looking into getting another transplant soon, just to fill in the existing area.

2) Hair color of transplanted hair: it might not be readily apparent, but a lot of the transplanted hair is black, or much darker than my other hair. My initial though was the transplanted area must be a darker hue, but then I did a little experiment: I plucked a hair from the back of my head, near the donor area, then plucked one of the transplanted hair. I did this several times, and the results were pretty conclusive: the transplanted hair was significantly darker (black) than the hair from my donor area.

3) There are several 2 folicular unit hairs on my my hairline. This is have dealt with in the past by plucking, but it's somewhat aggrevating that my surgeon though this was acceptable.

4) dimpling/cratering near the center of my hairline: the transplanted hairs in this area seem to be plugged into holes that were too big, creating black dots at the root of the transplanted hair in certain areas, particularly the forelock.

The surgeon I am looking into for the my second procedure is Doctor Konior. The first, I will not give out his name here but will divulge it if requested by pm. I will say he is stationed in the east coast area, between phili and dc.

So my questions:

1) Is it common for such a drastic disparity in color between transplanted hair and the natural hair?

2) Any opinions on Doctor's Konior ability to repair and improve my existing results? I have read about and seen alot of results of his work on this website, and I am cautiously optomistic about what he can do for me?

3) Is it common for 'techinicians' to do the actual tranplants? My doctor just punched all the wholes, and 2 technicians, one I think was in training, put in the hairs.

Who did your first surgery?

Most surgeouns have techs that work for them. Dr. K however does do most of the work, including placement. But he has techs as well. That is really not that good of a result. I feel pretty confident as well that Dr. K could soften the hairline and give you a lot better density.

I am an online representative for Dr. Raymond Konior who is an elite member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians.

All of your problems you listed sound exactly the same as mine with my first subpar HT. The pics are unclear but it doesn't look bad to me. Dr. Konior would set you straight. Who was your surgeon?

Dr. G: 1,000 grafts (FUT) 2008

Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013

Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020

It doesn't look that bad because, in my opinion, the work wasn't very extensive. I have a naturally large forehead and my hairline in highschool was pretty far back. however, I only had minimal hair loss in my early twenties and it had sense then stopped. This is potentially due to my usage of procecia. There isn't extensive hair loss in my family, and I think I was diagnosed as a Norwoord 2 A or 3.

However, the dark coloring of the transplanted hair is what concerns me. I feel it might be due to a poor HT transplantion procedure, but another part of me feels that it might be more due to my physiology.

I am pm'ed you 2 the doctor's name.

Where are the photos everyone referred to? I don't see them and am experiencing this same problem.
